  1. Ah bless Big sis, it is great news about my Mum, I just hope it continues. Just spoken to preggy daughter (only 6 weeks to go) and she told me that she used to take ZANTAC for the acid reflux, I had it again last night. She said the 75 strength is all we can buy in the UK, but the 150's from abroad are better cos the effects of those last longer. Hubby has just popped over to Asda to get me some. I'll let you know how they go.
  2. Big Sis, many thanx for the update on Flirty. Bless, she is a fighter, and so glad she's not in too much pain. Let us know how she seems when you go see her babe xx. oh
  3. Hi girlies...Sammy Mum is making a liar out of Whiston hospital, who said she'd never walk again, cos she is walking great with a zimmer frame, bless. She is eating well, and seems good. In fact they have told me in the hospital that she can come home in a couple of weeks!!! Bless her she wants to come home, she hasnt been home for 5 months, poor thing. I just dont know how you could eat a sos roll Sammy, these bands have minds of their own dont they lol. Maggs, I am the same hun, food goes down easier than any liquids, and for the life of me i cant drink a smoothie! I cant eat much though, but am losing so slowly, only a pound a week. my fella put himself on a diet and has lost the same as me, and he's eating salads and loads of meat and cottage cheese, and he has a few vodkas and diet coke most nights, doesnt seem fair does it. Thanx Shoes the weight is slowly coming off now. i told you not to get a fill before going to new York didnt I??? naughty girlie, not listening to Aunty Freckles lol. Such crap they told me in the Spire, that flying doesnt make any difference to the band, I know it does from how I felt when I did those long haul flights. Nite peeps, have a good nights kip xxxx
  4. and to all the newbies. Maggs, I know just how you feel, remember I was like that a couple of weeks back, it has now loosened a little, but not much, I can eat a lot of different things, but only the tiniest of portions, I'm talking 3 mouthfuls at the most here. And also if I eat after 8pm, I have the reflux during the night, which sometimes turns into a vomit (sorry). I think I have my sweet spot right now. I cant hardly drink alcohol either which is a good thing for me, you know how I like a few tipples every night. Well I can only manage a tiny amount of any alcohol. I am now snugly fitting into my jeans that I used to wear before my first band broke, a couple of weeks and they will fit perfectly. It's all worth it. This also proves to me that my first band never worked properly. Oh Flirtybum I hope you're ok, we are all thinking of you, how brave you are. xxx
  5. Oh Flirty you poor thing, but i must say you are brave, and it will all be worth it in the end. You are not gonna be in really bad pain I hope, and if you are make sure you ask for the ole morphine. I'm sure as a private patient they will be catering to your every need especially well. I cant wait for you to be able to come back and tell us how you feel, and when you're ready to be able to post some before and after pics. Bless you darling, you little fighter xxxx Welcome to all the newbies here and well done to all the losers, also a big kiss to all the newly banded X. Mmm, poor you, I can really sympathise with you, but it will pass as you know, do what I did in the end and dont eat or drink after 7/8pm, then there shouldnt be anything to come back up. My band is loosening off a bit now, I noticed it yesterday, which was 10 days since the fill from hell lol. Today I have eaten so far, 2 egg yolks with 2 crackerbread with Clover on for brekky, and lunch ate a piece of cheese and cucumber all chopped into small pieces, and I feel so much better.
  6. Neither of you are eating much, thats really great that your bands are working how they should be. I ate some cheese and cucumber this morning, cos I dont like sweet stuff for brekky. maybe I'll go try some weetabix now for lunch, I rather fancy that, thanx girls xx
  7. Hya chicks, Sammy I cant get hardly anything down, still, I dont feel so good atm, dont know if its the lack of food and water, cos I cant get much of either down. Damn headache, which is a sure sign of being dehydrated, I keep thinking that tomorrow it will loosen a bit, but if anything its getting tighter. Sammy how's your loss going hun? Bless the baby walking, how lovely, you will be running everywhere after him now, once they find their feet there's no stopping them. Gillian I know I'm over-filled, but it was fine after he did it, I swallowed yogurt and the water. It was the 5 hours or more drive home of sat in one position, being scared $hitless that made it so tight. Anyway thats enough about moi, glad you are at your sweetspot, well done!!! Christmas will be a buzz, with all you people so slim!!! Homecare!!! You have done so well, especially with your thyroid problem, well done. Flirtydrawers, are you bricking it or mostly excited? God I do so admire you, you will be a movie queen when you're done.
  8. Garry I had my last fill on Thursday 2nd july, by the Monday I had dropped 4lbs, or 2kilos. yesterday when I weighed, I had dropped another 2.2 (1kilo) Considering I'm hardly eating its not moving very fast, but i spose 6.6lbs in a week is good. What do you think hun? Today I'm going to try eating earlier, cos i dont start until 1pm ish, cant get anything down. And then I dont have time to fit much else in before bed. I was thinking of buying some baby food to see if that would go down, anyone else tried that?
  9. Thanx Shoes, about my Mum. I think maybe I have this bad breath thing cos when I wake up in the morning my mouth tastes like old cabbages. I think its the change in diet and our tums being almost empty. Can you chew chewing gum? Thats what I do or maybe suck some mints or something, cos i dont think cleaning your teeth or a gargle of mouthwash lasts. So we're gonna be nice and slim but stink of Halitosis lol. Never mind hunny, my daughter was the same, it passes. Chew on a clove of garlic and really give them something to moan about !! Ah Lisa that was a nice story, I enjoyed reading about your experience. So glad its over for you, you wont regret it. It is hard to make changes to your lifestyle, but you will adapt quite easily to it and then one day you'll think to yourself, when you look back 'How the hell did i ever eat that much' I am constantly complaining, so join the club, we have to share our experiences and if it appears we're moaning, tough!! Everyone in this thread must feel the same way and they all understand, without it we would go mad, its good to talk, as they say lol.
  10. Oh sorry Sammy my bad ....I'm losing the plot here kid (The south and North wales thing) My Mum is finally walking with a zimmer frame, slowly but she;s getting there, thanx for asking babe, and everyone else that wished her well, many thanx to you all xxx
  11. Thanx Big sis, I thought I was over-filled too, so does my daughter. I cant really afford to pay to get that done, so will have to just wait until it loosens on its own. Today I have eaten peeled sliced cucumber and cheddar cheese cut into small strips. I tried some home made liquidised soup, just veggie, but couldnt manage more than a spoonfull. And being as its now 8:40 thats it for me tonight. I have just got to take my liquid vits and I'm all set. I'm going to a wedding on 7th August so hope to have lost some more by then.
  12. So nice to hear from you Big sis, even though I dont get here much, I have missed you. Flirtdrawers is the best, we love you girlie xxx I am finding it hard to understand my new band, its so different from the old faulty one. I had a 1 ml fill last thursday and still am unabel to eat anything substantial, which is a good thing. I did something so silly last night, I ate a handful of dry roasted peanuts, and crunched them up to nothing. About half an hour later I drank a small glass of milk. All of this being about an hour and a half before sleep. never again!!!! I woke up vomiting I didnt even have time to reach the bathroom, I was covered and so was my lovely beige rug in my bedroom. That done with and cleaned up, tried sleeping again, and woke up again, same thing, then once again. I finally got to sleep about 4am, in my 3rd pair of clean pjs. I am learning every day just what a functioning band is all about. You do have to learn how to live with a band when you're at your sweet spot. Actually I think I am a little over-filled, but am loathe to get any taken out in case my weight loss stops. The most I can eat each day is maybe 5 crackerbreads and a cup a soup, is this normal?
  13. hey Sammy your geography is poo aint it Cardiff is in South Wales, Wishfull lives in North Wales bless.... And thanx Wishfull, it is working well.
  14. Sorry Wishfull, I dont know...mail that doc who books it.
  15. Well done Flirty, I just dont know how you have done it on your own, you are bloody great!!!! I would be worried though, cos I didnt have any restriction and then had the contrast study which proved the band was leaking. Wouldnt you consider that? You paid a lot of money out for your band and so many fills! How many mls have you supposedly got in now girl? Poor Mmm, well at least you didnt put any on sweetie. I am down another kilo today, but only just so not gonna change my ticker in case i'm back up tomorrow. I just cant eat, today i have eaten 1 crackerbread with Clover on for brek, 2 cbreads with a thin slice of cheddar on them and for tea I ate 3 c breads, 2 with Philly and 1 with marmite. i dont feel starving but if I could manage something I would eat it, but at this time of night I wouldnt risk it, as it will be coming up when I am trying to sleep. I love this band!!!!!!!!
  16. Good luck to Anita and girlies going for their bands in the next couple of days, we'll be thinking of you all. Sammy, I feel so rude for not texting you back, but I am exhausted, I will do it today. had a phone call this morning from the hospital again to say Mum was taken back to Warrington Hospital because she was shaking and was unresponsive. Persoanlly i think she's had a TIA, 5 hours on and she still hasnt been seen by a doctor as they are very busy, but she is now responsive thank God. I've been phoning every hour, I think they're sick of me, but I couldnt face sitting in the hospital for God knows how many hours again. Its like 1 step forward and 2 steps back. I have been hospital visiting almost every day since i had my band implanted. Its been a nightmare, I dont know how much longer i can go on. Sorry if i seem to be wallowing in self-pity, I just feel so low atm.
  17. Thanx Flirtydrawers for that info, OMG £13000, you must be a rich kid!!! You will be like a model when you're done. Mmm, have missed you very much, my Mum is ok, they are controlling the internal bleed, thanx for your kindness. They wanted her to have a hysterectomy and i refused, no way would I let her go through so much pain at 94. They are monitoring her blood count and she will have to have transfusions every few weeks, and she is on hormone tabs, but I wouldnt tell her for the world what is wrong with her. Poor old sausage, she's working hard with her physio so she can come home to me.
  18. Girlies, from past experience the band is strange, it varies from day to day just what you can eat. Shoes, if you have restriction now, dont bother going for another fill before you fly to NYC, because believe me your band will tighten up on the flight. I'm so excited for you, I went there 2 months after I had my first band implanted and i'd only had 2 fills, I couldnt eat a damn thing whilst in new York. The fabulous Chinese takeaways in the shops were so yummy and i couldnt eat any of it. We went to a great Chinese restaurant in Chinatown and i was outside sort of pbing cos I couldnt face going into the loo, was dreadful. I wasnt very good with my band, I didnt know what to do, just had this rice that I needed to be rid of, and I didnt know how. And i was like that for the whole week. My friend ate for England lol. When i got home I had lost almost a stone. Where are you staying? We stayed in the Pennsylvania Hotel opposite Madison Square Garden.
  19. Dont think like that sweetheart, or you'll never get anything done. You'll be fine and be beautiful, cant wait to see you in all your glory. xxxx I must have missed where you're getting this done and how much it cost you, I'm soooo jealous.
  20. Hi Shoes, yes I had my fill on Thursday, but I went to Michael VDB, my surgeon cos it was in with the package (I got 2 free ones). I have an Allergan small band holds between 9 and 11 mls. This was my 4th fill, I have 6 and a half mls in now. I know what you mean that you should notice with drinking that you have had a fill. Maybe you could mail Freddy boy and tell him you still dont have good restriction, and remind him about some coming back out. I have never heard of that happening. But I suppose it can happen, yet that doesnt seem fair that you have paid for a fill and didnt get it. You have lost a good bit of weight so far though, you were banded after me and have lost a lot more. Somethings working for you chick. xx
  21. I was pretty scared last night girl I can tell you, I really thought I'd have to go for a de-fill. Thanx so much Sammy and Wishfull, I will look out for them. I'll also ask if I'm in Asda first, cos me and Steve looked for them with the crackers and just couldnt see them. Atm I am eating marmite rice cakes, they seem to be going down ok. What I can normally eat (did today too) is crackerbreads, much easier than Ryvita to go down hun.
  22. Thank you Sammy and Wishfull. I have managed a few mouthfuls of coffee this morning. Lunchtime I wasnt starving but getting a headache so managed a cup a soup, took a while but it did go down. I have just eaten 3 crackerbreads with Marmite on, and am now full...brilliant!!!! BTW where do I buy those Dutch crispbreads, I cant find them in Asda or Tesco???? Please!!!
  23. Oh I feel so much better today, and have had a few sips of coffee too. Eventually last night I thought I would try to lay on my tummy and after about 5 minutes I had to run to the bathroom where I vomited for England, sorry to be so graphic. But what a relief it was, I slept like a baby afterwards. Homecare, I couldnt have sucked on an ice lolly, I couldnt even swallow my own saliva, but thank you for trying to help me sweetheart. I just wanted to share this episode with you all, this is one of the reasons the docs dont like to put too much in at any one time.
  24. Welcome Clara, yes there is someone going to Belgium on 7th July, actually I think there are 2 girls going. If you have a read back a few pages you will see who it is. Hope all goes smoothly for you hun.
