  1. I had Gastric Bypass at the weight of 500 pounds on my 5'2" frame. It simply saved my life and there is never a day when I am not thankful for doing it. I have lost 342 pounds and completely changed my way of thinking - about food and life in general. These days I follow Weight Watchers which I love. It gives me that little bit of structure while also giving me lots of freedom. However you do it, just know that you can! You can take control of this thing that has made you feel out of control for so long. If there is anything I can do to answer questions or help and encourage anyone, just let me know.
  2. I am about 12 years out of my surgery but I remember this part well. I was really alarmed, but I was fore-warned. The vitamin Biotin has become my friend. Its great for hair and nails. It will help (I take 5000 mg/day), but it won't completely fix the problem. It is unfortunately something your body has to go through. It's something to do with it thinking you are starving yourself so it doesn't send nutrients to things like hair and nails. That's what I read anyway. It won't last, so don't despair! My hair came back thick and wavy! Hang in there.

    Linzess

I so understand your issue. Suffered with it myself. I tried fiber pills, softeners, and all kinds of other things. My Dr. gave me Linzess and it worked very well. I suffered no side effects, except it pushed me a bit too far the other way. I was so happy to not be constipated anymore that I just put up with it for quite a while. I am now on Amitiza. same type thing, but it doesn't seem to push me the other way. I would guess it is just something you have to try. But I am much happier to be rid of that particular problem.
