  1. Just to clarify my last post, I drank the carnation breakfast for breakfast and then drank the Unjury protein Chicken soup at 9:00 p.m. Linda
  2. Hi everyone! I'm doing great, actually went back to work last night. I work at a call center and only had to work a few hours, and it went well. I only had really bad pain one day and that was Thursday -- other than that the only other problem I had was diahrrea -- started Thurs. and finally ended today. I called my surgeon's office as I never saw that listed anywhere as "normal" but they assured me it was a normal consequence. The nurse said, "first we make you drink the Magnesium citrate and then you had to drink the stuff (not her term lol) for the swallow test, so it's not unusual. She assured me it should quit by today and sure enough, it did. I took only a few gas strips, but they did seem to help. My port area is only sore if I lay on it, other than that, it's been fine. This was not nearly as bad as I expected it to me (thank goodness). Yesterday all I could hold down was a glass of Carnation instant breakfast and some chicken broth about 9:00 p.m., which then made me feel full again. I'm able to drink water with no problems -- it could be because I've been a water sipper for years and years -- just take it slow and easy Pen and you'll get it done. I go in Wednes. for my one week checkup. I've been keeping everyone in my prayers and hope you are all doing well. I feel very lucky too.
  3. Great! I'm very happy with mine too. i had nausea after surgery after they gave me some apple juice. I was lucky to stay in hospital overnight as I live 2 hours away, they make you stay first night. I was glad to be there. Just got home last night. All in all my experience was also great -- surgery was quick and I woke up quickly in recovery room. Hopefully aches will be gone soon. Linda
  4. Hi everyone, the surgery went very smoothly -- yes, I 'll admit it now, I was quite nervous a couple days befoe -- but I'm glad I went through with it. My surgery got pushed back to 10:30 a.m. I woke up in recover around 11:30 and in my room by noon. I felt great -- walke a lot in the hopsital, but after my 2 hour car ride home, have some muscle aches, but not too bad. Have no feelings of hunger and broth and Jello are actually tasting fabulous and are satisfying me. Hope everyone is doing well too. Linda
  5. try www.thedailyplate.com
  6. Well, I'm home from hospital -- the procedure went so smoothly and everyone was so nice. I'm so glad I found lapband!
  7. Yes, I'll keep in touch. I'm a bit nervous tonight, but am looking forward to beginning my new life tomorrow. Good Luck to all, hope to hear from you all very soon. Linda
  8. I'll be leaving tomorrow afternoon to go to Des Moines to spend the night before surgery since I have to be at the hospital at 5:00 and we have a little over an hour drive and it's supposed to snow. Good luck to you all! Looking forward to sharing experience stories with all of you. Linda

Hi and good luck on your surgery! My surgery is Tues., 1/27 and I'm looking forward to it. Like you, I can't say I've enjoyed the liquid pre-op diet, but I've actually kind of enjoyed not worrying about food these past 2 weeks. My fabulous hubby is fending for himself (kids are all adults). I made sure I was well stocked with everything I needed in advance. I use dailyplate.com to keep track of my diet as well. It's very easy to use. Good luck!
  10. Congratulations on your weight loss. Thanks for sharing. I have surgery Tuesday, 1/27 and am looking forward to my new life. Linda
  11. Julie, congratulations on your weight loss. You were beautiful before, but even more beautiful now. Thank you for sharing your photos and your story. I am having my surgery 1/27/09 and it's nice to see photos showing such great results. You're definitely an inspiration.
  12. Hi Ms Kelly -- I agree, this site is a god-send. I've learned so much from reading posts here. How are you doing with your pre-surgery diet? I'm doing great -- I'm so ready for this, nothing is bothering me. I went to the dr. today for my final check up before surgery and learned I lost eight pounds since starting it on the 20th. So that is great. I'm logging all my food onto myplate.com which I really like because all the word is done for you there. Good luck on Tuesday - be sure to let us know how you're doing after surgery.

  14. Hi Danielle -- do you go to the support meetings at the clinic? Have you done well with your lap band. I'm looking forward to my surgery. Three more days! Linda
  15. Yes, I'm probably too well stocked with Protein supplement. I bought
  16. Gas x strips are for after surgery, to help with the gas pains. I can't wait to get this done. Only 5 more days until Band-day! Yippee!
  17. I'm doing the same with my shakes - the non-fat vanilla ice cream just makes them so much creamier! I'm putting fresh strawberries in mine. Also have added sugar-free peaches, which is also yummy.
  18. I went shopping today for my stuff to take to hospital -- liquid tyleno, Claritin and Gas X strips. Also had to buy magnisium caltrate to take on Monday. Stocked up on some more jello, etc. for after surgery. I'm ready, I just hope the rest of this week goes fast!
  19. Lovebugs, I'm sooo excited! I was supposed to have the surgery last year but got very ill in July (kidney failure) and had to recover from that enough, so I'm just more than ready. Do you go to the support group meetings? I haven't been yet, but hopefully will go after the surgery. I really love everyone at the center -- they are all so nice. Smolak is Calahan's partner. I'm not really too nervous, just wanna get it done and over with! Thanks for replying.
  20. Hi all, I'm being banded on 27th also. Looking forward to starting my new life also. Good luck to you all! Linda
  21. It is weird how different the pre-op and post-op diets are. I'm on a 2-week liquid pre-op then I do 2 days of clear liquids, then 2 weeks of full liquids, and then 2 weeks of pureed food or liquids (it's up to me, I guess I'll be able to puree some and/or just do protein shakes). So, 6 weeks of pretty much liquids -- so far it's not as bad as I thought it would be. As you said, I'm so ready for it and once I make up my mind, I'm usually okay. It's the long-term that gets me. That's why this is such a miracle tool -- to never have to lose the same 100 pounds again is great! I can't wait until 1-27!
  22. Hi everyone. I'm scheduled first on the 27th -- 7:30 a.m. I'm glad I'm first so I don't have to sit around waiting. I had my pre-op appts. last week, started pre-op diet on 20th. Are any of you restricted from caffeine? And if so, do you know why? I read somewhere that they believe caffeine can cause you to binge eat. I just really love my one cup of coffee in the morning. But I've done okay on the pre-op -- it's amazing that after all these years I never understood that protein makes you feel full. I'm using Unjury and Isopure protein powders. I am excited and can't wait to get this done and start my new life. I'm so exccited to know that Ill never have to lose this hundred pounds again -- I've done it before, and here I am -- but it's great to know we don't have to do it ever again. What a dream come true! Good luck to you all.
  23. Hi everyone. My surgery is scheduled on 1-27 at Mercy Center for Weight Reduction. My surgeon is Dr. Smolec. Would love to hear from anyone who had surgery with him. Thanks.
  24. Good luck to all of you having surgery tomorrow. When you get up and around, I'd love to hear how you're doing. My surgery is 1/27.
  25. Thanks for your response Janet and your warm welcome. Day 2 of my pre-surgery diet went well. The V-8 soups are fabulous -- I've tried both the tomato and red pepper ones and I was so surprised they were good!
