medicmurray reacted to CammyC in Super hungry!I almost don’t want to comment on this for fear I’ll eff it up or unleash the beast. I’m no longer feeling hunger. I’m 4 weeks post op today. I have to force myself to eat. When I do feel that tiny bit of hunger creeping on I drink with of my protein shakes and stave it off for another few hours.
@Krimsonbutterflies what are you doing up at 3 am sister?? Insomnia is a real thing tho. So I get it! I take Trazodone which is something my psychiatrist prescribed me when I told her I wasn’t sleeping well. I haven’t had an issue since and it’s not interfering with any of my other medications and helps me sleep.

medicmurray got a reaction from Krimsonbutterflies in Super hungry!Hello I'm 4 weeks post op and starving today! I havent felt hunger since the surgery and just wanted to make sure this is normal. Super silly maybe but it scares me because I dont want to pick back up bad habits.

medicmurray reacted to Mary67 in So many questionsAs far as mobility after surgery, as soon as you are allowed to, get out of bed get up and start walking that way you can get the air out of your body from your laparoscopic surgery.

medicmurray reacted to catwoman7 in So many questionsI started taking vitamins during my six-month supervised diet since my dietitian wanted me to get used to taking them (but I think it was just the multi she had me taking, now that I think of it...), but most surgeons, regardless of the surgery, will have you stop taking vitamins and any non-prescription meds a week or two before surgery. I had to stop taking them before both of my plastic surgery procedures, too - evidently some can thin the blood too much, which can interfere with the surgery.
as for your anxiety meds (or any other prescription med), ask your doctor.

medicmurray reacted to lisafrommassachusetts in So many questionsI would ask your doctor's office about the vitamins and the medications.
Re; what I brought; A robe, earplugs and ear phones, phone and charger, e-reader, couple of magazines, eye mask, change of clothes with comfy yoga pants and an oversized sweater. Also I brought my own face cream, body cream and dry shampoo, of course toothbrush, hairbrush, etc. You can't take a shower for a few days, and the dry shampoo was nice to have. If you are staying in a hotel for a couple of days make sure you bring really comfortable stretchy pants, as the incision sites may be uncomfortable if anything is rubbing against them. Also, if you don't like certain kinds of protein drinks you may want to bring your own, but for the first few days you really need to hydrate more than worry about protein (as I learned the hard way when I got dehydrated!)
I had surgery at 4:30 pm, got to my room around 7:30 pm and was up and walking the halls at 9:00 pm. The nurses really encourage you to get up and move to get the gas moving. I had blessedly little pain, so I did not take anything other than Tylenol and motrin after the recovery room. I'm sure if you are on heavier meds that may effect your mobility.
Best of luck! Let us know how you are doing!

medicmurray reacted to TheAngryMeow in So many questionsHi! Congrats on the date!
Re: Vitamins - I would say hold off. My surgeon made me quit taking them. I guess depending on some of the vitamins contained in it, it can interfere with surgery. *shrugs*
I would ask the doctor who prescribes the anxiety meds to see if there are alternatives or if it is going to affect you. Are you bypass or sleeve? That makes a difference, too.
I'm still pre-op (Feb 25th), but I packed a bag with my daily meds, a couple changes of underwear, a dress to leave the hospital in, a robe, some slippers, a couple of my protein drinks because I don't know what options they will have, charger for phone and a laptop, and a small travel pillow. I may be overprepared, but I'd rather have too much than too little.
Can't answer the mobility question - yet - but I will get back with you Tuesday! They WILL get you up and walking shortly after your surgery (or so I have been told and have seen posted on here). So I imagine mobility is not terrible. But again, I will update as I go!
Good luck! ?
