    My story

Hey everybody, I have to get something off my chest, my story towards WLS is this, 5 years ago i was not at all obese, i weighed 65-70 kgs, I actually started college at around 2011 and then moved to Australia to continue my education, but ever since I moved to Australia, I was starving myself, as I did not have enough money to buy myself food etc, then at 2014 I finished my college and moved to Canada for about 4-5 years, there it got even worse, since my field was really hard to get a job (audio engineering), I was starving myself there as well, ever since 2012 i was moving to different countries, in total 4 countries Dubai, India, Canada and Australia, but was eating well here and there, parents were sending some money, at the brink of 2016, I became homeless in Canada, for almost 8months, at that period I was eating like 1 meal a day, surprisingly I was still about 65kgs by the end of that phase, but then I committed a crime while I was in the streets and they sent me a psychiatric hospital, that's when things took a turn for the worst, after about 3 months of staying in the hospital, they started me on psychiatric meds (aripiperzole abilify) but in about 20 days I saw my weight rise from 65 to 75, then about 10 days later it rose to 85, then slowly 95, then about 6 months later I was at 110, I thought I maxed out but I gained another 7kgs in the next 6 months, also the food was rich in the hospital but very tiny portions, then they switched me to clopixol, did not help, infact caused infertility and sexual problems, I have one question for all of you, does bariatric surgery work for person like me? Does weight gain from psychiatric meds happen in like 15 days? If so that is big problem. Since I have a bad history with nutrition and my metabolism is in really bad shape, but I got out a year and 6 months ago, and i started eating a lot once I got out due to all the deprivation, I was never even planning on doing bariatric surgery, did not even know what it was, so guys please share your experience with starvation, metabolism, weight gain, psychiatric meds. Oh I did mention this to the doctor and he said that's nothing to worry about. But what do you guys think? I really want answers guys, this has been in my chest for a long time now. Thank you all for listening. Oh and I have finished my surgery , it's been 19 days, I have lost about 12kgs. Things are going well, but I don't want it stall all of a sudden and then one fine day it never moves again. That would be a nightmare, I just want some clarity on this topic. Thanks again.

    My story

Thanks a lot bro, I'll pm you any questions o have, thanks for being my mentor, life's a rollercoaster ride. There's always the ups and downs. But now I am actually doing fine financially. Started up a recording studio in India. Your absolutely right about the tool thing, there's just so much potential here and I'd hate to see it go down the drain myself. Thanks for the support.

Can you visually see your weight loss?

I myself see it, and the numbers prove it, but I don't seem to understand why other people don't see it, must be some kind of psychological tick. And humans are very jealous creatures lol.

    whey intolerance

True, but I just like being safe, and I don't think it has any effect if there is no underlying hormonal imbalance.

    whey intolerance

I really can't believe it, I take like the smallest sip of whey protein isolate and I'm FULL, seriously I cannot drink more than a sip of whey protein, I get too much bloating, but soy protein isolate sits well for me. Hate the estrogen effect soy products have but I digest.
  7. Yes you are right about the starving eventually putting on weight, but you have to take into consideration that any form of "obesity" is obesity, whether it be from eating too much junk food, or from starving too much, they're both the same demons just different outfits, and I personally believe that obesity is caused largely due to hormonal imbalances, all the above reasons mentioned like eating too much, eating too less, psychiatric meds, bariatric surgery is the cure, it cuts off the root of all these problems, you are saying that eating too less will put on weight but when you cut 75% of your stomach, you actually can't eat that much, so no technically, that only happens when your body goes into starvation mode, that's why its essential that you eat 6-8 small meals a day even after surgery. And not to forget, the countless number of problems that obesity brings along, diabetes, depression, back problems just to name a few, but it is a BIG problem. So I think that the benefits outweighs the negatives. Ta.

    Clothes?

That is insane, honestly. It's like not even looking at the same person anymore (in a good way).

    Clothes?

Thanks, and that waist reduction that you experienced is brilliant, I'm hoping to be on that same range, as a matter of fact, im 48 right now and im happy if I come down to 38, lesser than that would also be acceptable for me, I saw a post about a another man in this website, says that he came down 12 sizes, and I was impressed.

    5 days post OP sleeved

Hi, I'm 2 weeks post op and I remember after my surgery, I mean immediately after, I had shortness of breathing, and like a sharp pain when I took a deep breath, my brother did this same surgery 5 years back and he said it was the anesthesia that shrinks your lungs for an initial period, but now its completely gone and that spirometer really helps, right after surgery I was only able to get 2 balls in the air, now I can get all 3, oh and right after surgery, I also had this like bad back pain which also went overtime, but man, it actually ended up fixing my back problems drastically, now I feel so good. Just hang in there, oh and this is very important, breath in through your nose and breathe out through your mouth, if you don't take deep breaths, nothing will change, it will just be the same.

    Clothes?

Yes thanks for the invite, I'll check it out, just a curious question, how many waist sizes did you end up going down? How many do most people go down? I know it going to be different for men but just in general.

    Clothes?

Hi, I have some clothes that were too small before surgery, but I'm only 2weeks post op, and I'm really looking forward to wearing them in the future, in my country, getting clothes at size 48 is almost impossible, so that was a big problem for me, hopefully in the next 6 months or so, I will be able to wear normal sized clothes again. Looking to completely revamp my style. 😀😀

Do protein shakes put on weight?

Yeah you said it, I usually weigh myself every morning like you before breakfast, but for a couple of days I got too anxious and just weighed myself twice, but yeah I think the battle is also psychological so it's good to fight these demons lol. Yes I don't plan on stopping protein shakes anymore thanks to you guys. 😁
  18. Hi guys, new to this place, I just finished my surgery, Its been 8 days since surgery, I was 117.8kg (259lbs) before surgery and after 7 days I lost about 8.8kg (19lbs) but yesterday and today I started taking protein shake as the doctor advised me to do so and I am also adding thick liquids to my diet as I was told my dietitian and my doc, but since I started taking protein shakes, my weight loss has slowed down, like I was 109kg (240lbs) before starting protien shakes, and after it's been fluctuating for 2 days, today morning it was 108.5kg (239lbs) and after taking the shake in the morning and then checked my weight in the evening it was 109.2kg (240.7lbs), should I stop taking my protein shake? Is weight fluctuations normal? How much weight did you guys lose in the first week of your surgery? Thanks for any help. 😁
