    Under 250 Lbs. Woo Hoo

I weighed 242 today and it has been 14 years since my weight has been under 250. It's not all roses but the weight loss sure is great! Down 63 lbs since starting on this journey on April 26, 2010. :thumbup1:

    Weighed Yesterday

I was stuck at the about the same weight for a few weeks :sad0:so I decided to wait at least 2 weeks to weigh again. And I am only going to weigh on the same scales (Publix). I weighed yesterday which was one day early and I had lost 8 lbs. WOOHOO! :thumbup:It seems like I stay right around the same weight then drop several lbs at once. Anyway I am feeling better, a little more energy and the food is going fairly well. I tolerate everything I have tried so far. Just working on eating slow enough and chew, chew, chew! Still not eating raw veggies and fruit except for bananas and mellon. It has been a learning process to order the right foods when going out to eat and to buy less food for at home. A lot of food goes to waste because it is hard to realize how little I really need to eat! The journey continues and I am still glad to be sleeved even if it isn't the "easy way out" like I used to think. LOL:wink0:

    PS-11 Weeks Out

I have gone from 305 down to 255 including the pre-opt diet. My pre-opt diet began April 26th with surgery following on May 7th. I am happy with the 50 lbs weight loss in about a 3 month period. Very grateful to be on this journey!! If it is to be, It is up to me!
  4. Katt,

I have some "junk" almost every day but in very small amounts. I get my protein in most days but have a hard time getting in enough water and sometimes (many times) I don't get in all the vitamins. Try not to beat yourself up, we are in this for the long haul so it will all work out.

It is wonderful to be able to move around and not feel like I am dying! I hope I get more energy back though, I seem to be very tired quite often. My friend who has had the bypass says that energy comes back more after 50 lbs weight loss. And I have read that between 3 and 6 months out I should feel more "normal". Happy 4th of July, ENJOY YOURSELF!!!

  5. Hi Katt,

How are you? Happy 4th of July! Hope all is well. I am good. Gets better as I get more time in! 8 weeks tomorrow. Down 41 or so lbs. I am exercising 20 minutes a day which is a miracle for me! I still get very tired at times but in general feel so much better. Let me hear from you, take care.

If it is to be It is up to me!

  6. Hey, how are you doing by now? Good here, still plugging away. More good days than bad. Just thinking of you since we are at 8 weeks now.

    Follow-up with Doctor

Went to the doctor today for a follow-up and results from blood work. He says I am doing great! Easy for him to say! LOL It isn't always easy but neither was eating then not eating, dieting then overeating etc. etc. My blood pressure is good, all my blood work showed improvement. I am 7 weeks out and have lost 41 pounds. I am eating more "real" foods but still getting in protein with protein shakes. So far no problems with solid foods. I am so glad to be this far along, the first few weeks were rough, but I lived to tell about them.:scared0:

    Surgery in Cancun May 7th!!

The hospital is cold, take a robe of some kind. Their gowns are small, not big enough for me for sure. The rooms are big and very nice and the bathroom and shower are great! There was a sofa and recliner in my room. It was also very clean. Some of the staff cannot speak or understand English. But when there was an issue, they called someone on the phone to who could speak English. They may tell you that you cannot get up and walk right away, but it is very important that you walk and I insisted on it and they called the Dr. V to get his permission. Don't know if you are familiar with ObesityHelp.com but it is a great site for info also. I was very anxious but all for nothing. I did ask for copies of my lab work and later I asked Sheri to email me surgery info. I found a surgeon not too far from where I live to go to for follow up and Sheri sent me a surgery report. It was brief but at least something for the doctor here to go on. I went back to the surgeon here today and he says that I am doing great. So far so good! Please send any specific questions that you may have and I will be glad to answer them.

    Surgery in Cancun May 7th!!

I am getting the sleeve surgery with Dr. Verboonen at the Galenia Hospital in Cancun. It is exciting and the reality of it all is starting to sink in. Would love to hear from anyone who has had surgery there or who is planning on surgery around the same time. Open to any comments or tips on pre or post surgery. Thanks for being here.:cursing: Brenda
  10. There was one thing that I did not know when I scheduled with Dr. V. He uses a small bogie size 32, the surgeon that I am going to here for follow up uses a 42 and sometimes even a 52. So your pouch will be smaller than some which is ok with me but I did not realize this in the beginning. You can probably research the sizes and reasons for them online and decide for yourself. I did a lot of research but somehow the bogie size wasn't something that I checked into very much. More later.

  11. Hi,

I was happy with the hospital and the surgical team. Sherry is super nice but she was very busy when I was there. She has a lot going on.

We came a few days early and stayed at a Mexican hotel downtown. My sister has visited Mexico numerous times and she wanted me to get some real Mexico. I know you have many questions, I know I sure did. I will write more later. Let me say this, I do not regret going to Cancun at all. There is not much follow up and I have done some things on my own that I will share with you. I have a doctor's appointment that I have to go to now, but I will write more later.

Hangn there, it will really be ok!!! I will help you all that I can.

    So far, so good!

It has been almost a month since surgery. I have lost about 34 lbs, (includes pre-op diet). I feel so much better. It's work but at least I know it can be done. There is such great support on here and I am so grateful to be a month out and looking forward to more good things!!!!! No regrets here, just want to lose lose lose (weight) and gain gain gain :001_huh:gain freedom to live life!!!!!!!:thumbup1: If it is to be, It is up to me!
  14. So how is it going by now? I am eating soft foods and venturing out a little but trying to eat mostly soups, protein drinks, and yogurt etc. but I did try some flounder last night and I had Weny's chili today (1/2 of a small order).

How are you feeling? It will be a month Monday, it is good to be this far out, looking forward to more "normal" feeling as time goes on.

  15. Hey Katt,

How ya doing? Hadn't heard from you lately. I go to the doc. tomorrow for follow-up. Here's hoping it all goes well. Haven't weighed in about a week, hoping that is good too. My clothes are telling a good story, getting big and getting into things I hadn't been able to for awhile. Take care, write a line or 2!

Oh BTW, how are the solid foods going???

If it is to be, It is up to me!

    One Month Post-op

Congrats, sounds like you are doing great! Good luck with the working out! Thanks for sharing your progress. If it is to be It is up to me!

    Feeling great!

I am feeling good and getting more in tune with the whole process. Big big change, don't drink when I eat, don't eat fast, chew 100 times etc. It is like learning to walk all over again. But I am so pleased with my progress so far and feel better than I have in a long time. Still get tired but that's what naps are for. Think I am down about 30 lbs. My clothes are all bagging, just call me the "Bag Lady"
  18. So how's it going by now? Good here, can't believe that I am almost 3 weeks out! I feel better and more at ease with the whole process as each day goes by. Hope all is well with you. I think I have lost about 30 lbs, haven't weighed in a few days.

    Swimming is key for me

I wore their gowns which were too small for most people getting WLS. It is probably a good idea to take your own. I just took a cover up because I knew I would need it. Also non-skid shoes because you will be walking as much as you can. Good luck with your surgery.

Came through the Sleeve! May 7th in Cancun

I came through and am so glad to be on the other side! Each day I feel a little better. It will be nice to get to the next phase of the food but hey I'm thrilled to be doing so well. I feel much better than before the surgery, just a little low energy at times and some bloating which is to be expected. If it is to be, It is up to me!

Came through the Sleeve! May 7th in Cancun

I have done well with the Unjury unflavored protein powder, adding it to kool-aid and jello. I am getting a little tired of chicken broth too! LOL I am starting to add flavored protein drinks and thicker liquids now. So far so good. Thanks all for your posts. Welcome Bit of a Diva!

Good for you!!!! I was sleeved last Friday and each day am feeling better. No regrets here. "If it is to be it is up to me!"

  24. Sleeved and Relieved

    Nsaids????

I have heard that many of the surgeons feel the same way. I am sure they are being on the cautious side but hey better safe than sorry.
  25. Thanks for the info. "Sleeved and Relieved" Will work on that ole ticker when I can and will give you a call. On to clear liquids! LOL
