  1. Thanks PhotoNut!
  2. Hi, My name is Deanna. I am from New Jersey, originally from Trenton and now we live in the 'burbs. I am 35 years old and have been married for almost 11 years. I have a beautiful daughter, she is 4. As a child, I was really underweight, that is until the 5th grade when I was diagnosed with asthma...an with asthma comes steroids. Throughout high school I was "healthy, not fat" and whne I entered college, I remember thinking I was a whale, I weighed 147 pounds. My freshman year I gained about 45 pounds. For the next four or five years I yo yoed. On my wedding day, in 1995, I weighed 180 pounds. We first started trying to get pregnant right after we both completed our graduate work in 2000, we conceive the day after I got my degree and 3 moths later miscarried. Before the first pregancy I was in the best shape of my adult life, I kick boxed 5 nights a week and weighed 158 pounds. After miscarrying in august, 2000 I gained 30 pounds and when we finally got pregnant with my daughter in November 2000, I weighed 188...plus another 80 pounds I put on with her. The first 50 was easy to lose, I have even lost as much as the whole 80, but have put it back on 3 or 4 times (AHHHH). So, now I am here, I startd this journey on March 3, weighing 248 pounds, I was banded on April 13 and now weigh 220. I want desperately to go to the beach with my daughter this summer...last year I was too embarrassed, and the Jersey Shore is one of my favorite places on Earth. I also want to be a good role model for her, I do not want wieght to be an issue for her. Since I started losing my asthma is more controlled and I generally feel better. Thank you all for being a support to me on my journey.
  3. Well not exactly true. I had my surgery on april 13, 2006. In total I have lost 28 pounds, 16 before surgery and 12 after. I just started mushies this past friday. Since then I have been diligent in using FitDay.com to track my daily eating and exercise. I have averaged about 1,000 calories perday and in total burned about 2,300 calories per day...and I seem to be moving slowly. I am trying not to be greedy...hell, I've lost more in the past month than I lost in the past year and a half. But am I doing something wrong? Am I taking in enough calories. Usually I eat or drink between 80-100 grams of protein; about 30 grams in carbs. Any suggestions...I just don't want to revert to my old ways, which is "Oh well, if I am doing everything right and not losing, I should just go ahead and eat the things I know will stall my weight loss. Maybe I have just hit a plateau....ANY thoughts?

  6. I was banded on 4/13 and today was my first day really going. I just drank losts of water and waited!
  7. What a difference a few hours make. I am actually down three since this morning....finally went to the bathroom (I know...TMI). So i guess I made the 2 lb. goal for the weekend!
  8. Well it is Monday and I actually gained 1 pound over the weekend...not sure how that happened. Well, Saturday was my first day off the liquids onto mushies, so that may have had something to do with it. Also, I haven't been to the bathroom since surgery. So maybe I am just full of it!
  9. Did any of you gain weight back during weeks 3-6....before your first fill? I am desperately trying not to.:help:
  10. Thanks for turning me on to FitDay...this is great!!!!!!!!!! Good luck, my thoughts will be with you!
  11. Count me in, 2 pounds by monday!
  12. COUNT ME IN...2 pounds by Monday!
  13. I am two weeks out and I am hungry. Today is my first day on mushies, so I hope it gets better. I think it may be alot of HEAD hunger, because I am getting about 900 calories per day and 80 gms of protein. I just can't wait to get filled.....I fear gaining between now and week 6, but I am just going to remember how much time and effort I put into being approved for this surgery and just how much I want to go to the beach and be able to wear a swimsuit with my 4 year old daughter this summer!!!!!!!
  14. With too few calories your body thinks it is starving and holds onto body mass, that's why I have tried to get at least 500 calories in by adding things to my 1 protein shape that I spread over the day. Yesterday I even had a rita's water ice no fat but calories.
  15. Thanks for the tips! Here is the Cream of Crab Soup Recipe: 1 pint heavy cream 1 pint half and half 1 can lump crab meat 1 pint milk 6 tbsp. corn starch 1/2 stick butter 6 tbsp. cooking sherry 1 tsp salt 3 tbsp Old Bay Seasoning 1/4 yellow onion 1/2 cup parsley Saute onion and parsley until onion is transparent. In a stock pot, heat milk and creams until it starts to boil. Add corn starch and butter, then add crab meat, sherry, salt, Old Bay, sautee3d onion and parsley. Reduce heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
  16. Even if I put the peanut butter in the shake? He said as long as it goes through a straw? Thanks for the advice....I will post the soup recipe this afternoon. I have to find it.
  17. I am 5 days post op, but before I went on pre-op fast, I tried a great recipe for cream of crab Soup....not low fat, but low carb and high Protein. If anyone is interested in the recipe give me a shout. It is very easy and extremely filling. It has cream, half and half, milk, butter, sherry, onion, parsley, lump crab meat, and corn starch which I used as a substitute to flour (still carbs, but less)! It is truly yummy. On another issue, I am having extreme diffficulty in getting in all of my protein and liquids. I have taken to making one serving of a Protein shake in the blender, but I add some extra Protein powder and some Peanut Butter. I drink this throughout the day and in between drink Water and one serving of chicken broth. Does that sound OK? I do not want my body to go into starvation mode hence the extra powder and peanut butter to increase calories and protein.:hungry:
  18. I am currently a 16W or an tight 18 regular---I am getting banded tomorrow...during pre-op my 18's are not tight any longer. I hope to get to a size 10...or maybe an 8 ( that might be a little greedy!)
  19. I am in the same place as you....I never thought I would be tired of sweet creamy food!
  20. I actually ended up paying the support group fee of 750 because the second surgeon I consulted with was so condescending and required that I start the process all over again, even though I had already received approval from the Ins. company. I now have a date 4/13/06
  21. My nutritionist and pshychologist were both covered by my insurance.
  22. The group ios run by the surgeons. He explained that the surgeons always come to the meetings and one must commit to attending and therefore, must pay the $750 prior to even scheduling surgery. I was a little floored.
  23. I guess insurances does not pay them enough! Thanks for the help!
  24. OKAY, I have done everything the doctor has asked, I have not yet gotten approval but they think I am a good candidate and my insurance seems to be willing in all of the cases I have seen....So what is the problem, I didn't realize that there was a fee for joining the support group prior to scheduling surgery, is this common? I was quoted $750. I know this does nogt sound like alot to those of you who have self-paid, however, I am at a point in my life that this fee makes it almost impossible, I am going to have to switch surgeons and start over. HELP!
