    14-day Pre-op Starts Today

Isn’t it amazing how the preop diet works? I was pumped seeing the scale change for the better every day! It kept me motivated. Congratulations on your successful weigh in! You’re doing awesome and you will continue to do so in the next steps ahead. My post op appt was yesterday and I had lost 14lbs on preop diet, and another 8lbs since surgery. Emily the NP said that’s more than average and that I’m doing great! Hugs to you! Enjoy your weekend!

    14-day Pre-op Starts Today

You got this my friend!! How’s the Optifast shakes working for you? When is your last dietician appointment, is it this coming Friday? After my appointment I just kind of let the shakes go by the wayside and I ate some real food (in moderation) over the weekend. I hope you’re doing well and counting down the days!! Hugs!
  3. I had my surgery two days ago and this is exactly what I’m having. It almost takes my breath away and I have to do some breathing like I’m in labor! I know it’s only temporary. I think I need to drink room temperature or warm liquids cuz cold liquids are making it worse. My surgeon said this is very common since my insides are all sore and inflamed and once healed it’ll go away.

I’m getting ready to leave for the hospital in about an hour! Today’s the day. It hasn’t totally hit me yet, but it will once I step foot into the hospital! Here goes! I’ll check back in on here once I’m up for it.

    October 2019 surgery peeps?

It's going on Saturday morning here in No California. My VSG is Monday! I had my official weigh in at the nutritionist's Friday afternoon and I had lost 13 lbs since I started the liquid diet on Oct 14! So I'm down 27 lbs since I started all the steps in the program back in May. I did not cheat the entire time on the liquids until today. But I only had bites of things, not an entire meal. I went shopping for non-food items after my weigh in, like toiletries, slippers, sports bras, comfortable undies, a comfortable pajama gown. Then shopped Amazon Prime for an abdominal binder, Benefiber, Probiotics, Sublingual B12, Tomorrow or Sunday I will get the post-op food items on the list I received from the nutritionist. I've been cleaning the house these past few days, and even totally cleaned and organized the refrigerator and pantry. Catching up on laundry and any upcoming bills. My hubby is taking off Monday-Wednesday. I have to check in at 0930 Monday for 1130 surgery. I can't believe it's finally 2 days away. Let's keep supporting one another and hoping n praying for the best possible outcome!

    One week to go

I’m also 10/28 surgery! Also on day 8 of pre op diet plan and down 9 pounds! My hubby grilled himself a steak last night and I started crying a bit and went to another room! I love steak! He wasn’t doing it on purpose, but I was like omg wtf?!?! I weigh in Friday and I’m already 2lbs below what I need to be! So I’m sticking with it! Don’t want to cheat and gain weight and have my surgery get cancelled! We are strong and can do this!!
  10. I'm now on day 3 of my preop diet plan which is for 14 days. My surgery is Oct 28. i am to have 4 Optifast shakes a day. I can have unlimited sugar free jello and popsicles, broths, decaf coffee/tea with only sugar substitute (no creamer), sugar free sports drinks and of course water. I have been staying on track thus far. I haven't cheated at all. There's a light at the end of the tunnel. I know after a day or so once I'm in ketosis I'm supposed to feel much better overall and less hungry. Today I'm just tired, mild headache, achy all over, and hungry. I was off of work today. I survived Mon and Tues Days 1&2 of the diet while at work. I didn't take my breaks in the break room, I went elsewhere to drink my shakes and eat jello. I sipped on broth like it was coffee. (LOL). I started Monday at 237 and weighted 233 today! Need to be 231 or under when I weigh in at my dietician appt which is Oct 25. Good luck to you all on your journeys!
  11. My surgery is the same day! I'm having the sleeve gastrectomy. I'm nervous and excited as well! Apprehensive about starting the pre-op diet on Monday. 4 Optifast shakes a day with unlimited sugar free jello, popsicles, broth, no-calorie sports drinks, water. In moderation right now, I've indulged myself to have some things I know I won't be able to eat much of in the future. Had a few Stella Artois beers the other day, had my last Diet Pepsi, and some fast food-but just half of what I'd normally would order. I weigh myself every other day to be sure I'm still on track. I have lost 16lbs since I began the program in May. I know on the pre-op diet I'll drop even more. Best of luck to us, Mikeyy! We can do this!!

    October sleevers?????

I'm scheduled for my VSG on 10/28. Just found out my surgery date 2 days ago. Reviewing all the "WHY'S" in my head to psych myself up and not get overwhelmed. My why"s are 1) Be healthy overall once again 2) Be able to be a fun, active grandma to any future grandchildren my daughters bless us with 3) Be comfortable and confident with my appearance. My younger daughter is getting married 2/29/2020 and I look forward to not having to shop in the plus sized section for dresses!! My older daughter got married 6/17/2017 and dress shopping was almost depressing! Ended up in a size 16 or 18, and limited the selection to choose from. Plus had to wear Spanx to hold everything together. Dress was beautiful, but I still felt like I was being judged. Some relatives at the wedding I hadn't seen in many years, when I was a size 6/8. I know they were wondering why I let myself go. 4) Be able to travel and not feel like I am cramming myself into the plane seat. Have the energy to sightsee and not get tired out and want to sit down and rest, or avoid climbing up or down a sand dune or hill to get to the beach. And wear a 2 piece swim suit without hiding under a coverup! I am concerned about the 2 wk liquid diet. I will be working quite a few of the days I have to be doing it. Only a few gals know I'm having WLS. I may or may not tell anyone else. I was thinking if someone asked, I'd say I'm having gallbladder removal. Will I feel like absolute crap at work like lightheaded, dizzy, headaches, brain fog, nausea? I try to tell myself that I may be too busy at work to dwell on it, and the time will pass faster than if I was sitting at home watching the clock. I'm an RN working post-partum, nursery and pediatrics. What is the normal time off of work for those of us who do not have a sedentary desk job? When can I swim again in my new swim spa? I see the surgeon in 2 days for my pre-op appointment so I'll definitely ask. Good luck to all October patients!! You've got this!!!
