  1. I think I broke into the 80s this morning. But I am going to give it the weekend before I call 189!!!!!!! FREAKING RIGHT ON:car:
  2. Congratulations, and let the games begin. Not familiar with NASH, but I guess you are lucky it didn't stop the procedure. Good for you and your fine surgeons.
  3. :whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo: AHAHHAAHHAHAHAA, I love your attitude! Hilarious thread everybody!
  4. Well, I have cleaned out my closet several times, but funny, now that I am within 15 pounds of my goal, it seems to be filling up again. :nervous
  5. Why I just ordered a new Spider ski suit in size 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That thrills me to no end. The pants fit, I can bend over, I can fall, but they fit snug. So in 10 pounds, they will be perfect. YAHOOO, see you on the slopes.
  6. Best post I've seen in awhile!!!! :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:
  7. Hope you are regaining your energy, how are you feeling today? How many days has it been since surgery? How does the incision look? hugs
  8. RIGHT ON JAZLADY! Feels good doesn't it? I have been to goal before, but only for about 5 minutes and when I was bulemic in my late teens/ early 20s. One of my friends commented on how happy I am and I said, that a WEIGHT has been lifted from me, from both my body and my soul. The MOST amazing thing to me is that with proper adjustments, I will NEVER gain this weight back, as I have countless times before. This thrills me to no end. Countdown today! 15 When I lose on more pound, I will be in the 80s, I haven't been in the 80s SINCE the 80s......:whoo:
  9. Great attitude mss.
  10. I guess it doesn't explain why we are all different, but I imagine that our innards are as different from each other as our outards. lol!
  11. Here it is, Originally posted by Wendell Edwards. [quote Wendell Edwards} This may help you in understanding the restrictive mechanism of a Lap-Band. The INAMED protocol for Lap-Band fills calls for a six-week delay after surgery, prior to any fills. The purpose for the six-week delay is for the patient’s stomach to heal from the surgery, as well as allowing time for the Lap-Band to “Seat” or “Nestle” into the fat pad between the stomach wall and the interior wall of the Lap-Band. Prior to receiving an EFFECTIVE fill, it is VERY uncommon to have any restriction from a Lap-Band. Some patients will NOT lose weight, or may even GAIN weight until they have received an effective fill in their Lap-Band. Normal weight loss with a properly restricted Lap-Band is between 1 and 2 pounds per week. The normal cycle of fills, restriction and weight loss is as follows: 1. The patient's Lap-Band constricts when the patient receives a fill. Swelling for a few days after receiving a fill is very common. Many doctors require a patient to go on a liquid diet for a day or two after receiving a fill. A fill may have a “Delayed Action” of up to two weeks. A “Delayed-Action” means that the fill may not become effective for up to two weeks after the fill. That is why the INAMED protocol states that fills should not be performed on patients who will not have access to medical care for at least two weeks after a fill. 2. The patient's stomach capacity is lessened as a result of the restriction caused by the Lap-Band. 3. The patient loses weight because they cannot eat as much food. 4. The residual fat-pad between the inside of the Lap-Band and the outside of the patient's stomach reduces in size because of the overall weight loss in the patient. 5. The reduction of the residual fat-pad causes the Lap-Band to become loose again. 6. At that point, the patient needs another fill, because the Lap-Band is loose, and the patient has a loss of restriction, which allows the patient to eat larger amounts of food. 7. The patient receives another fill and the process starts all over again. Most Lap-Band patients receive several fills to adjust the Lap-Band as their weight loss progresses, and there is less and less residual fat-pad between the inside of the Lap-Band and the exterior of the stomach wall. Once a patient has lost all of their residual fat-pad, fills become less common. As the Lap-Band patient progresses in their weight loss, the effect of very tiny fills (Less than .2ccs) becomes greater and greater. It is not uncommon for a late-stage Lap-Band patient to experience a significant difference in restriction with as little as .05cc of fill. __________________ See my before & after photographs Starting weight was 570 pounds Banded 09/13/2004 by Dr. Neal, in Shelton, WA "Why are you letting a number on a scale determine your level of happiness, and would it MATTER what the number on the scale said if you were at your perfect goal SIZE?"
  12. Very good question, especially since in this thread, we all have the same size band. But I imangine that all our stomaches are shaped differently to begin with, with differing amounts of fat in between the band and the stomach wall. So as we lose weight, that fat patch between the band and the stomach lining thins, thus the need for more fill. But I know what you mean, everybody reacts to different fill levels differently. Some can never go over 3.0cc, some go over and even over 4.0 in our band. Whatever our fill level, success to us all. Wendell Edwards had a good post somewhere, I will see if I can link it here.
  13. 18 and I don't care if it IS water............
  14. YESSSSSSSSSSS, I haven't lost any weight since June, but every time I see her, she says, 'Have you lost MORE weight!' I keep saying UH NOO, in fact I am not losing at all and haven't since JUNE..... What I really want to do is lift my shirt and show her my omentum...hahahahahaha. That is the stomach fat if you don't watch Oprah. Skinny, I am not there yet Chickie, I look FORWARD to someone calling me skinny. ha, but I can understand your frustration. It is like no one really wanted you to succeed in the first place. And in your case, from what I have read and seen in your pictures, you have MORE than succeeded my dear, you are a poster child of how the lap band can change someone's life. You are one of my heros my dear young Chickie. With my MIL, I am sure she is genuinely concerned, but it just comes out wrong. I know she wants me to be healthy for her 3 beautiful grandchildren, my beautiful children. But if I look at her pictures from 1955, SHE BE SKINNY......I think to someone who has lived through the depression, some weight on someone = healthy. So hopefully, she will let up when she sees that this weight isn't coming back and I am more healthy and more active than ever. And if she doesn't, I guess I will have to quack and let it roll off my back like Water off a duck. I AM after all a mature woman..... of 44 years........
  15. Awesome feeling isn't it?
  16. just venting here. I hate hearing this from people. "You've lost enough weight now." "You're not trying to lose any more weight are you?" and at the dinner table "Is THAT all you're eating?" My dear Mother in Law in particular. She also accused me of starving myself. Don't get me wrong, I love my MIL, but it doesn't feel complimentary. Now if I was within the 'average' or 'low' end of the BMI, I could understand and accept this comment from people. But I am still mildly overweight or whatever it says. So I brush it off, say, Yes and thank you. But deep inside it bugs the hell out of me.
  17. OK, I have a question....for anybody. I love the low incision on your TT Ghost. So, I know the belly button is moved and want to know if that hole gets cut off with the extra skin. I know weird question. What goes through the mind of a pre TT, wannabe patient.
  18. Just got back from my whirlwind trip to get a fill. It is no wonder I was getting frustrated. I had lost .2 of my fill and was sitting at 2.8. Dr said osmosis. So anyway, I'm now filled to 3.2cc..... So let the weight loss begin and the countdown continue. Let's see, where was I...??? Goal, around 175. Current 195, so 20
  19. Well, no wonder I was getting so frustrated. I had lost .2 of my 3.0 fill so was at 2.8cc. Now I have a fill to 3.2. So let the weight loss begin.:clap2:
  20. Teacher here, just saying, GOD BLESS ALL THE NURSES OF THE WORLD!
  21. Well, it isn't a little thing, it is a big thing, I am TOTALLY thrilled with not wearing fat clothes anymore. I am STINKING excited to go to Vancouver this weekend to the Tall Girl to buy myself some jeans, some dress pants, some tall leather boots to the knee. My winter wardrobe does not exist so I am adding a bit, or a lot. I still have about 20 pounds to go, but I need clothes, deperately. I am thrilled that I WANT to dress nicely, no more hiding under ugly oversized clothes. Yea us.....:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:
  22. Haaaaa! That is great. Hey, I do that all the time, pull my pants down without undoing either the button or the zipper. DUDE! We need some new pants!
  23. I also have those nasty hypertrophic scars. I am over a year out now and they haven't lesssened much. I too, am not crazy about them in trade. If that is what I have to endure for being 85 pounds thinner, then I can accept them. I'd be interested to see what a plastic surgeon could do with them. Perhaps when I go for a consult for a tummy tuck. Again, ugly scar, but much better overall effect. Hugs, I hear ya!
  24. WOW! What a tremendous difference. I love how low your incision is. Very nice job. Congratulations! Now with every day you will feel better. Hugs!
  25. I have had it to here with this plateau. I booked a fill for one week Monday. I am at 3.0, and will ask for a .1 or .2 fill. I am really excited to see some numbers moving again. They've actually started to go UP of late. sigh!
