  1. there is a doctor in birmingham that has a good rate. Circumstances dictated that i use another doctor, however i did go to an appointment with him and would have felt comfortable using him... https://www.bmisurgery.com/?utm_source=GMBlisting&utm_medium=organic
  2. I used Dr Borland in New Iberia, LA, great experience. There is a guy that does VSG in Birmingham for about $9000 as well. I've seen ads for a place in Las Vegas. Expect to spend $9-$10k plus incidentals for US.
  3. The gas was the worst, it does go away though. It hit me hard the day after surgery, which had been going exceedingly well prior to the gas pains that night, i thought i was having a heart attack. I'm at 6 weeks out now and have felt pretty normal for about the last 3 weeks.
  4. Not sure what part of the country you are in, but I had a good experience with Dr Borland in New Iberia, LA (just below Lafayette.) $9800 all in (except for hotel room and labwork from your PCP.) There is also a clinic in Birmingham,AL that does it for about $8900, but there are other costs on top of that amount. I visited this Dr for a consultation and probably would have used him had I not injured myself and needed to rehab with family in LA. Both of these places are outpatient.

  6. Had VSG outpatient with Dr Borland in New Iberia,LA. Did surgery on a Monday late morning, discharged to a local hotel Monday afternoon. Dr Borland made hotel visits on Monday and Tuesday evenings around 6pm to check on me. If all is well head home on Wednesday morning. Sleeve was about a month ago with no issues, especially as my situation was compounded by a torn ACL about 2 months before surgery. Not staying in the hospital greatly reduces the cost for self-pay patients.
