  1. Was banded Monday may 5. I felt like maybe I had done the wrong thing when I first got out. I had been soooooo scared..never had surgery before. It was a breeze. Since my surgery was late in the afternoon I spent the night but went home the next morning at 10:30. I didn't really have a lot of gas and little gas pain. I didn't have much pain at all after the first night except at the incision sights...but today I feel sore and my left side is achy. I am struggling with the food...not sure what to do. Soups and Jello and pudding and shakes..all go down fine. My nurse said I WOULD KNOW when to move to next food stage..I would be hungry and ready...well Friday came and I was HUNGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today I tried some very soft scrambled eggs...big mistake..they are stuck. Hard to believe that three small bites of scrambled egg could feel like a turket stuck in the pit of my stomach.... I am a bit scared that I may be doing damage. Guess I need to go in tomorrow and sit down witht he nutrionist and plan out a week's worth of meals cause I feel very confused. I don't want to eat things like ice cream and such but Soup is just not cutting it. I even tried lentil soup thinking..GOOD GOD this must last for a while...went down easy but gone too soon as well.. Anyway..the surgery itself was a breeze..truly...just the confusion afterwards has me stumped. Cindi
  2. Hey everyone... WEll..I was banded last Monday on the 5th and things have been pretty good. I have been pretty confused about what to eat..I KNOW I KNOW I am going to see the nutritionist tomorrow I think... I ot a FIRST MONTH MENU and that is what I got..liquids..pureed..mushy.. When I talked with the nurse on Wed she said I would know when to move to a new stage cause I would be hungry... Well I started getting hungry on Friday...I ate four crackers..let them dissolve in my mouth..no problem.. Yesterday I tried to let a soft meatball dissolve..BIG MISTAKE..got stuck which was uncomfortable and I felt like an idiot..like why am I screwing this up. SO I went to a bookstore and got a WLS cook book. ANyway..got up today and had a shake for Breakfast..decided to concentrate on getting in the Protein...20 g there... then for lunch I had some lentil Soup pureed...another 7 grams there... IN the book thewoman showed so many things for week 1 of lap band...seemed a bit too much I thought but I'd settle on scrambled eggs... So I cooked an egg with a sprinkle of cheese and kept it really soft... I took three small bites..and now I am stuck..UGH>>>> I got some of it up without wretching but the rest is stuck. SOmeone said they take small sips of drink so I tried that...not a good idea... Anyway...it is beginning to settle but I am getting worried. What If I make the thing slip?????? What if I stretch something out????????? I am truly not trying to push the envelope here I just feel like the guidlelines are really loosy goosey and I was feeling so damn hungry... SO any advice? words of encouragement? condemnations? anything? CIndi
  3. "So I was reading your post and it occurs to me, Why do we do this to ourselves? I want the success, but there is a part of me, I think, that makes me believe, sometimes, alone in the dark, back in the corner of my head that thinks I can not be successful..." I lost 90 pounds on my own a few years ago because I wanted to avoid the surgery...but after 90 pounds...and feeling great and getting compliments...I started sabotaging myself. FOR ME...I think I have used my weight as an excuse..the reason I am not________is because I am fat....the reason I don't have _______is because of my weight,... And so if I lost all the weight I would no longer have any excuses..now none of this is concious...but I think it is legit...also, I am single and I think sometimes I keep men at bay by being overweight..I get in relationships..but can use weight as the reason they do not succeed. Just some thoughts Cindi
  4. Post banding my nutritionist said I could make a shake/smoothie.. I bought the vanilla and chocolate BALI Meal Replacement powder from GNC...I use 1 c of 1%milk, 1 scoop of Protein, a T of sf peanutbutter and a banana.I cannot finish it all but it has like 30+ g of protein between the pb, milk, and powder. I think it is very hard to get the protein grams in on liquid phase... Some folks get a tasteless Protein Powder and add it to sf puddings/custards. Not sure how that would be but its a thought. Cindi Banded 5/5/08 highest weight 358 weight starting process 344 surgery day 335 today...5 days after surgery 326 :tt1:
  5. I was banded on Monday May 5. I wish my doc was a bit more specific about the days and how long to stay on x y z. I was shocked that after coming up to my room from recovery they gave me custard! I had thought I needed to have clear liquids as well. My doc said..yogurts..puddings..applesauce creamed Soups...then nutritionist said I would KNOW when to move to blended foods..I would be hungry she said. Well I know I am not sure what ready is... I will keep working at it. Tonight I ate about a 1/2 c of ice cream...I have never been able to eat only a 1/2 c of ice cream in my life! Always a Soup bowl! and I was full. I know that is not a choice to make on a reg basis but is it okay like once on the weekend? OR should I avoid it? I welcome advice because I want to succeed at this. I KNOW that the ic was not the best choice..I had been having a rough day emotionally and ic is what I often turn to. Just being honest. Cindi
