  1. Thank you for that insight. Do you think it's because of the calories or maybe you got more protein in. That's counterintuititive eat more calories but can't argue with your terrific results!!
  2. Yes, the liquid part is hard......easier to get my protein than my liquid....slowly getting there...about 50 oz a day need to step it up a bit....
  3. @Linda72So every morning and every evening One chewable Celebrate Vitamin One Chewable Calcium Citrate Two tylenols (500 mg each) One Ursodial One Colace One Pantoprazole Optional - One zofran (i stopped this as i'm not naving nausea) once pain is gone I can stop tylenol...but Pantoprazole and Ursodiol will be for 60 days. They also said after 30 days I can go to tablets for vitamins instead of chewable but I sort of like the taste, it's a sweet treat if that makes any sense....
  4. You are gonna rock this!!
  5. So excited for all of us October siblings!!! It's really much easier than I thought it would be..... I have a 1 week post op liquid diet i'm on still on day 5. It's not that bad because I'm not that hungry. The hard part is getting all the pills down. have to wait about 5 minutes between each pill or my "pouch" hurts. Just follow everything your doctors say and you will be fine!! I also had my incisions. 4 of them are horizontal with my belly button, exactly where I "bend" gahhhh. Next week I can go to purreed if I want or stay on liquids, the doctors say my choice. Can't lie, dying to make Shelly's ricotta bake and also try that Mediterranean chicken patties from Aldis everyone is talking about (will puree)
  6. @Mikeyy No offense but I'm asking females only and I specified that in the title. I obviously understand about starting weight, BMI, etc. I was looking for motivation. I don't want to hear how men lose 100 lbs in two months, okay..thanks........
  7. Yup...I ultimately decided on RNY and am post op 5 days, no regrets thus far! @nomorefattypatty
  8. Hiiiii! Just post op from October 1st. I know this is a marathon, not a sprint but would like to hear any stories of women over 40 and their experience with the rate of loss following bypass/RNY.n I feel it will help motivate me. Thank you very much
  9. Following this thread. I am a 48 year old female just starting my journey. High weight of 307. I've been overweight for 20 years.... I know I will have loose skin...trying to save money for plastics but it's reassuring hearing that it has firmed up, even for those in their 60s. so much goes into this.
  10. Hiiiiii! Following..you are all an inspiration.... Still so newly post op (Oct 1) so my goal is to meet my vitamin, fluid and protein goals. I have no weight loss goals right now although any loss will be welcome
  11. 4th full day home....still sore..hardest part taking these pills...have to take them 5 minutes apart...another frurstrating thing is my hubby. We went to walk the dogs (we have two) and I asked him to connect the lead to the dog. It's still hard to bend over. Yes I was doing it slowly and actually did light chores but it was easier to ask him. He refused and said "you can do it and you will" WTF. I am so pissed I was gobsmacked. Then I didn't back down as usually submissivie wifey I am and it's the next day and we are still not talking. In fact he left the house last night didn't tell me where he was going and I had no idea where he was for two hours then he came home and slept in the guest room. . He was great during the hospital and surgery but seems very upset with me and not very caring. I guess it's something I'll have to deal with. I thought about apologizing but F that . Digging in and standing my ground. I actually think he's a bit insecure...... Water weight seems to be down, yay!
  12. Surgery went well. I felt fairly good after. Came home two days ago and a bit sore, especially on my left side......I don’t think messing up my pre-op diet did anything although the dr wanted me to have lost more weight before.......still up in weight because of fluids. Home recovering......
  13. @LastChance57You are right..I should call them. I'm taking like 15 pills a day. 7 in morning and 7 in evening and it's been soooo hard. probably the hardest part so far is taking these dang pills. ... I have to wait 5-10 minutes between each pill. I wish I was giving the liquid. I will leave them a message today. It's saturday but maybe they will call me back. maybe I'll send hubby to drug store to at least find regular liquid tylenol. that might help at least. appreciate the tip.
  14. Central Florida here. I'm 48/female - surgery date 10/01/2019 Surgery = Gastric bypass
  15. Found this little space to start posting random thoughts, feelings and experiences to document this journey Surgery Type = Gastric bypass Age = 48 Highest weight = 307 1st date with surgeon 05-09-2019 Weight - 302 June, July, August, Sept - went through pre-op stuff diet and insurance hell Surgery Date 10-01-2019 Weight 284 10-02-2019 - Weight going home was 294 Hospital care impressive, bariatric program impressive. I was sent home with all the knowledge and material I need. Nurse called me on 10/03. I had red tinged phlegm coughing and she said that was normal. Today, 10/05/2019 I'm home and still sore. I don't think I was given enough pain meds so trying to use them sparingly. Lots of vitamins and meds to take it takes me about 30 minutes to take them (morning and evening) due to the stomach making me full. My main goal is to get 60-80 grams of protein and 60 oz of liquid. I've almost made it each day going to try today. I'm still happy I made this decision. Trying to walk at least every hour around the house and will i'm sitting I do ankle twists. I've take some short walks outside with the dogs. Things that are bugging me - I have 6 incisions and 4 are horizontal along my fat roll that 'bends" when I sit making it uncomfortable. Dr. filled out form for me to go back to work on Oct 17 I think i will need longer, will address at first preop meeting on the 16th Lower left abdomen hurts internally, is that where one of the stomas are? I know I'm still pumped with fluids, not weighing myself yet but I must be losing weight. entering everything in my fitness pal...always under 400 calories. Ordered a cheap fitness tracker on e-mail since my fancy one broke. I'm sick of store bought bone broth...will try to get some yummy from a local asian restaurant. ... 10/05 - had my first Bee Em sans miralax This is all more expensive than I thought it would be.
  16. good idea to do this thread, I'm going to do the same....
  17. I don't know why you would consult an attorney or another surgeion unless you think malpractice was done. I think your surgeon did the correct course to fix your henia, then wait to do your revision...... I'm sure you signed your life away before the surgery as well.......
  18. I started drinking protein water. I like this one it tastes like a pina colada. 15 gs of protein in 16 oz of fluid. Brand = Protein20
  19. So how are you feeling? @anniepearl1983
  20. I had my gastric bypass surgery Oct 1....my book from surgeion says gasx and beano OTC is okay...hopefully that will help. I wish I got tylenol with codeine. Only trammadol for the pain. and only 10 pills, i've been hoarding them, lol
  21. Welcome, you will find a lot of good info here. I personally was denied after being pre-approved and going through a 4 month program but ultimately appealed and got approved. Boy, was it stressufl though. Wishing you the best. I just had my surgery 3 days ago..
  22. Thank you for sharing your honest experience. @chula313 I just had surgery on oct 1 and really relate to you. The cost has been eye opening, I'm so glad I have a bunch of cheap amazon dresses to wear and a bunch of large size panties from walmart. I'm only wearing flip flops right now. My pain has been significant too..but sounds like yours is worse, I'm so sorry. My doctor only gave me 10 pills of trammadol and no refills so I'm using those sparingly. Four of my six inciscions are all along exactly where my fat rolls when I sit down, sooo painful. I am thankful for this board and I know it gets better!!
  23. Thanks for sharing your story, you will find a lot of support here even if you just read the posts. I'm so glad you are getting it done for your health and were approved! Best of luck!! Age is just a number @SISSYJ
