I am a self pay and used Dr Alberto Aceves in Mexicali Mex. I live in AZ, so I can drive to/from his office for fills. He also has pickup included in his price to/from San Diego for those who fly in. He and the hospitaland staff were great. You may also want to consider him for you doc. He also gives free fills for life, maning you only pay for the xray at fill time. The toal cost of surgery. including transportation from San Diego and hotal is $8200. He also worked in the US. I like him.

It's best to get fills under fluro so the doc can really visualize the port. Without fluro, the doc is working blind. Kep looking for a doc who uses fluro.

I am also a self pay. I went to Mexico for the surgery and only paid $8200. The surgery costs so much in the US. Either way, the chunk of change needed for the surgery did not come from the money tree, I felt the loss, but I am so happy with the band so far. 50 pounds gone, 70 to go. Hurrah for us!

I was banded 11/22/05 and am down 50 pounds. The scale said 2 less pounds today, but until I see this 2 days in a row, I dare not say 52!!!! I am excited about my loss so far, I have 70 more to go. A long way, but possible to achieve? Let's hope. Go Nov. bandsters!

I am also a self pay. I live in AZ so Mexico is close. I went to Mexicali (2 hr east of San Diego, 1 hour west of Yma, AZ) and paid $8200. I was very pleased with my surgeon and my experience. I am able to travel to his office and back to my home in a day. He does not charge for fills. I only have to pay the xray charge when I fill. Last time it was $67. I feel this is a reald bargin. I also know many people go to Monterrey, Mex as this is a dbig medical school/specialty area. There are supposed to be mandy fine surgeons there who charege more or less what I paid.
