Would anyone like some pre-surgery supplies?

I have a boatload of extra protein shakes and other protein liquids that I will need to get rid of as well. I am donating them to my Dr. to help future patients start their journey.

    Weight Loss Too Fast?

I was like that early on. For about 2 weeks, I was losing more than a pound a day. My family was alarmed but i felt good. Then I leveled off and didn't lose much of anything for several weeks. It started up again and seems to be averaging about 3 pounds a week. i surpassed 50 pounds at about 7 weeks even with the stall It goes faster for men. Especially bigger guys. Eventually, it will slow down. Meanwhile, as long as you feel good and your Dr isn't worried, enjoy the honeymoon.
  3. My doctor wants all liquid but the nutritionist that works with him is trying to change his mind into adding lean protein and low carb vegetables. I went with that because it was so much easier. I did liquids daytime and lean meals for dinner. The only thing I changed was I went all liquid the last 36 hours but that was mostly so I could flush my system. My dr went out of his way to tell me my liver was in perfect shape for the surgery so it worked for me.

How did you pick your user name?

My name is a shout-out to my favorite motivational tune which seemed perfect for this journey. The song is “Doing the Unstuck” by The Cure. It is a rip roaring song about making a life change with utter abandon. I’ve never tried to attach a link but I will try and see what happens. https://youtu.be/4BvEJ_TPp9c

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Well, the deed is done. 8am surgery this morning so I have had a long day of sleeping and not much else. Finally got up walking and went 5x farther than they wanted as a minimum. The bloated gas pains really are unpleasant. Now I have added hiccups which really suck. I got some gas-x so I hope a little relief from the pressure will calm down my diaphragm. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I wanted to thank everyone here to help me understand what I was getting into and being so supportive. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

    Beer

Now this is a subject that caught my attention. I will miss beer too. That will be my Trump card when people say I took the "easy way out". "Are you kidding? I had to give up beer!" Our starting points and size are pretty similar but I am a couple of months behind you. I hope to do as well as you.👍
  8. I have decided to be fairly open about my process (surgery countdown on T-4 days). So far I have gotten nothing but support with just a little bit of concern that goes along with any surgical procedure. I have to say that I have the advantage of being a man. I know it is a harder decision for women because they are judged harsher. I wish it weren't the case but it sure seems to be. I decided to be open for a couple of reasons. For me, it has been a long slow decline into obesity and I have been in denial for a long time. My first step was admitting that I had a problem and needed help. I wasn't ready to really make a change until I had broken through enough to admit it openly. Second, I have a feeling that my weight loss is going to be quick. People will either guess that I had surgery or think that I am dying. Personally, I would rather them talk about the reality than conjecture. Third, if I can be an example to other people, I will gladly take the scrutiny that comes with it. I fully expect to coach additional people through this process in the future. I have already gotten a few curious inquiries. In the end, it is a personal decision for everyone to share what they are comfortable with. On one hand, there is no reason to talk over private medical matters with others. On the other hand, there is no shame in taking positive control over your life and doing something that will make you healthier. Best of luck and let us know how it goes no matter what you decide.
  9. Hey, my date is the 18th too! We can take this ride together. I was nervous and indecisive a month ago. But once I got a date assigned, I sort of surrendered myself to the path I had started. Now I am getting excited. I'm just annoyed that there are things I need to finish up at work. I would rather be here learning and getting inspiration. Best of luck to the both of us.
