  2. ONE WEEK FROM TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Terri
  3. Hey Gwenn - glad to hear that your problem was fixed with a bandaid!!! LOL! I am having my surgery in West Hills with Dr. Paya. Went to a seminar tonight - he spoke and I like him a lot. Where is your port located? Did you have to worry about the port being near your bra? Keep up the good work with the pound loss! Terri
  4. Congratulations on your 23 lbs Gwenn!!! :smile2: Terri
  5. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYBODY GOING TOMORROW!!! Can't wait to hear all the stories! Terri
  6. GOOD LUCK ALL YOU MAY 14TH BANDSTERS!!! We will be thinking about you! Terri
  7. Jessica - I am SOOO sorry to hear about your medical set back. Since you just were in this morning, maybe there are other alternatives that the doctors will come up with. Keep trying! What about gastric bypass? Maybe since that is a surgery in itself, the scar tissue can be removed at the same time? I'm sure that you and your doctors will come up with a solution. Don't give up! Our thoughts are with you! Terri Keep us posted.
  8. I am right there with you guys!! I'm beginning to freak out a bit and starting with the usual worries. I'm not worried about the actual surgery, as I have had quite a few these past few years, but I am more worried about my ability to stick with this for the rest of my life!! I worry that I will take too big of bites and throw-up, worried that even with the band in place, I still won't be able to loose weight. I don't want to be heavy the rest of my life. I don't want to be a failure anymore. I just want to get this over with - the waiting is driving me crazy!! (can you tell?!) But - on the positive side - this site has been a godsend! All of the great posts on this website and in the chatroom have been so supportive and caring, and that makes it seem possible. It also doesn't help that my rock (my husband) has been traveling these past three weeks (he's in London now) and even will be traveling up until surgery next week. NEXT WEEK!!! the 22nd is getting here faster and faster! sorry for the rambling. Thanks for listening!!! Terri
  9. Hi Seattlelight! Sounds horrible! I had a similar problem earlier this year, except I was getting hives all over my body. Went to a dermatologist and was treated for a few months first with prednisone (sp?) and then with different types of antihystamines. He also suggested a WONDERFUL anti-itch cream called Sarna. You get it at the drug store. What is wonderful is that it offered me relief from the itching. Trust me - run right out NOW and buy it!!! The relief was almost immediate! Good luck and let us know how you are feeling! Terri
  10. Good luck to all you having surgery tomorrow! Can't wait to hear your stories! It will be over before you know it! Terri
  11. Good luck Holli11 and Disney Freak - can't wait to hear your stories! I'm May 22 - not too long after you! Terri
  12. Dear blkshadow, Your post brought tears to my eyes. I am glad to see that you are getting help and starting antidepressants. Remember that just because one antidepressant works on one person doesn't mean it will work on others. If you feel that you are still depressed, talk to your doctor and try another. It may take trying a few different meds to find the right one. It also takes a few weeks for them to "kick in". Don't give up on them!!! I am glad that you have found this site, because you will definitely get support and encouragement from us! We are all in the same boat as you are! Once you get your depression under control, life won't seem as bleak! We are here for you!! Terri
  13. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You did it!!!!:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: Terri
  14. I too have decided not to tell many people. This is pretty easy for me because my family all lives in Florida and I live in California. My husband is supportive of anything that will make me feel better about myself and my children don't know yet. They are 17 and 20 and I don't want all of their friends to know!! My mom thinks that if I stop eating dessert I will lose all the weight I want! So the next time I see her I will tell her that I took her advise and just stop having desserts!! I have very supportive friends, but I'm not sure if I am going to tell them - maybe after surgery. This site has been such an inspiration for me and has truly helped with my fears! Thanks all! Terri
  15. Nicole - thanks for the great blow-by-blow of the procedure! I am being banded on the 22nd, so it is great to hear all of the stories! Take care and happy recovery! Terri
  16. LOL Auburn girl!! I have never heard of Protein Jello??!! :confused2: Where do you get it? Had my visit with the nutritionist yesterday, only have to do one day of Clear liquids before the 22nd - yeah! Terri
  17. Congrats Blondiebandie!!! Terri
  18. Congratulations on your bandings!! :frown: Hope to hear more about your road to recovery! Terri
  19. Hey beanbean - I have found that when I have had surgeries, the anesthesiologist has been more than happy to give me "happy juice" before I actually go into surgery. Just make sure you tell him when you talk to him prior to surgery that you are nervous and you want something to calm you down. Their job is to make this experience as comfortable as they can. They certainly don't want you jumping off the table and running out!!! Take some deep breaths and ask for the "happy juice"!!! :frown: woot! Terri
  20. Good luck May 8thers!!! We will all be thinking about you and looking for your POST op postings!!! Lucky you!! :frown: Woot!! Terri
  21. Hi everyone! My name is Terri and I live in West Hills, California - San Fernando Valley - and I have always thought I had a weight problem. Looking back to my childhood, I see that I wasn't fat, I was normal - my mom, brother and dad were all just skinny! Anyway, my weight problem really started around the age of 40, my mother-in-law died, my father had a stroke, I started having lower back problems, had surgeries, hysterectomy, borderline diabetic, and the list goes on! Looking back now, the only thing I could control was the food I put in my mouth! Of course I tried all the normal diets, exercise programs, etc. and I would lose maybe 30 pounds, but gain it all back plus some. (sound familiar?!). In September I am going to be 50, so I am definitely doing this for me. :frown: At my last doctor's visit I asked my doctor about surgery, and he suggested lap band surgery... and the rest is history! I am still doing Lindora (even though my heart is certainly not into it because I am worried I won't be able to eat any of my comfort foods after surgery, so I am sabbotoging (sp?) my diet - nothing new to me. I also have a wonderful DH (by the way, what does that mean? - darling husband???) and he is the only one who knows about my surgery. My family lives in Florida and my mom thinks that if I just stop eating dessert I will loose 80 pounds! yeah right mom!!! I wish!, so it is easy not to tell my family. I have two great daughters (almost 21 and almost 18) and I know they would be supportive if I told them! My friends are wonderful, but I am a little embarrassed to tell them because none of them have a weight problem. I imagine that I will tell them eventually before surgery. Anyway, thanks for listening - you guys are better than therapy!!! :tt2: xxoo Terri
  22. Hey fluffycat! I'm being banded on May 22 also! Yeah us! :frown: Add your name to the list of those being banded on May 22! Terri
  23. Hey Diane - Glad your nutrition seminar went well. I thought I had mine today - even went to it, but realized in the parking lot that it isn't until tomorrow!! Just a little bit of a brain fart there! :frown: Seem to be having them more often lately - oh well! My doctor has me do 3 days of liquid diet, but we will see what the nutritionist says tomorrow! Terri
  24. Glad to hear you are doing well! I heard someone comment that when they have to cough, they cough while holding a pillow to their abdomen. Of course, you can't carry a pillow around with you everywhere (or maybe you can!!), but it should help at home! Let me know if it works!~ :frown: Terri
  25. Hey Angelsoul - hope your cold is nothing more than a little bit of the sniffles! Do you have a fever? Just try to rest and not freak out about changing your date. You just have to relax and things will be fine. By the way, NY2LAgirl - I live in West Hills - we are practically neighbors! I'm being banded on May 22 in West Hills with Dr. Paya. Terri :frown:
