Loosing track!
There are some great exercise videos that you can do inside your house, check out YouTube and put in like "indoor walking videos" or "light exercise videos" or even "yoga." There's plenty you can do inside your house during isolation to keep moving. Also, stay hydrated, make a game out of it to keep hitting a certain mark of water every 20 minutes or so.

Life Abroad with VSG
Recipe ideas: Pinterest or Skinnytaste Workout Ideas: YouTube has great short 10 minute low impact workouts that you can do after VSG. You can do anything, like walking in place, short walks, etc. immediately and I highly recommend walking immediately after surgery, but no weight lifting for 4 weeks, nothing more than 10 lbs I think. Foods: Without nutritional labels to see if it's sugar-free or not, that's a tough one. Obviously meats are high protein which is good. Cheeses have protein. Can't go wrong with meat and cheese. You already know about fresh veggies and fruits. No, I'm lost without my food labels. Sorry.

Giving Dumbbells a Try
These dumbbells were delivered to me yesterday that I had ordered on Wal-Mart.com. I wasn't expecting them until tomorrow. I'm looking forward to incorporating these into my fitness routine. I do 90 minutes a day of cardio. But sometimes at home in the afternoon I do more cardio and I've been using soup cans to add resistance. Now I have 3 lb, 5 lb and 8 lb weights to use. I found some great arm toning 10-minute workouts on YouTube. Naturally I can do some heavier lifting and use the strength training machines at the gym, but these small light dumbbells are just for home incidental use when I have a few extra minutes and some extra energy to enhance my gym workout. While I would actually like to add some arm muscle, I guess I'd be happy to just tone what I already have.

Pain post op
As others have said, probably best to call your surgeon's office just to see what they say and if they want to run a test or xray or CT on it.

Review: Muscle Feast
Thanks for sharing. Many members here struggle with the protein shakes, so this will be a good new option for them.

Doing it all wrong.
The only thing I'm going to fuss at you about ?is the coke. Carbonated beverages aren't a good idea at this stage of the game, especially if you drank it with a straw. Remember . . . no straws. Have you tried premade protein shakes? I stomach them a LOT better than the powdered ones. I use GNC Lean Shake 25 g protein Swiss Chocolate. I swear by it. Don't worry about calorie counting at this point, but do try to get something down. Bone broth? Sugar-free popsicles? Jello? Something! Take care.

Frustrated - Canceled Surgery: Advice?
You gotta trust your gut. You won't have to start from scratch, just a new surgeon consultation and surgery approval date. You've already done all the rest.

90 Minutes of Cardio Every Morning
I'm old (57 this Sunday) and retired. LOL! ?

I've regained the weight I lost
No, not at all. People think their stomach stretches, but it's not that easy for your pouch to stretch out according to my surgeon. I asked her after my 30 lb weight gain and had an endoscopy and she said my pouch was still good to go!

I've regained the weight I lost
Don't be ashamed. We're human. And that's what we're here for to listen and support and encourage each other. I did the exact same thing. I gained 30 lbs during COVID. Just got them off over the last 3 months. It IS possible to still lose after WLS and after a weight-gain. The tool still works, you just have to use it. Go back to the basics of tracking every single thing you eat and drink. Get your 60g protein, 64 oz water daily. It'll come back off. It won't be fast, but it'll be reliable. You can do it!

I really like the seated elliptical at the gym!

Back to ER
Oh I'm so sorry you're going through this, Clare. Glad you've got it all straightened out and are on the road to recovery. That must have been pretty scary for you.

90 Minutes of Cardio Every Morning
Except for a couple of days with the stomach flu and 2 snow days I've been to the gym every single day since November 22nd. Even when I couldn't make it to the gym, I've worked out at home by grabbing some soup cans, marching and tapping around the house, dancing, just moving doing anything I could, squats, etc. I don't do lunges!!!! ? So starting January 1st I noticed I was hitting 10,000 steps per day between working out at the gym for an hour and then again for 20-30 minutes at home later in the day. I've done 18 days in a row exceeding 10,000 steps. My new goal has been to get the whole 10k steps in while at the gym, which is a little harder because it takes 90 minutes to get them all in. So this morning I made it to 8,000 steps at the gym and now I need to get 20 more minutes / 2000 more steps in at home. I get 90 minutes of cardio in every day before lunch one way or another. I also did 15 minutes of strength training/weight machines this morning, but they didn't really register me any steps. I'm thinking about adding some weight lifting to my daily routine or maybe every other day starting in February. How much cardio do you do each week? What's everybody else been doing this New Year?

An Ode To Cauliflower
I bought a cauliflower crust frozen pizza a couple of weeks ago. Haven't tried it yet. I think it's called "CauliPOWER" or something funny. I haven't gotten into the whole cauliflower mashed potatoes, etc. yet. I need to give it a try.

Clothes shopping weirdness...can you relate?
Yeah, I hear ya. I still buy clothes that are too big for me. I still think I need loose-fitting clothing to look acceptable. Plus it doesn't help that women's clothing sizes aren't uniform like men's clothing sizes are. I can wear a 12, 14, or 16, a M, L, or XL or even 2XL depending on the material, where it's made, who makes it, etc. It's ludicrous!

Low BMI pre op question
I don't know, Lizzie, perhaps you can approach this without WLS. I'm not trying to talk you out of it by any means, but if sounds like you've got a good handle on what you need to do and are committed to doing it, so WLS might not be the tool you need at this time.

Hives
Hives always mean an allergic reaction to something. I got funky marks on my arms from the surgical tape, but that was it. Can you take an antihistamine?

Hey Long Termers - What are your macros now?
I hover around 1,000 calories a day with around 70 g protein and at least 64 oz water daily. I just started going to the gym again six weeks ago, so I get 90 minutes of cardio daily. I'm losing . . . .SLOWLY . . .

Not losing anything??
Yes, the infamous Week 3 Stall can last several weeks, sorry to have to tell you that but it's true. Get that water in, sip, sip, sip all day long and keep running to the bathroom if you have to (more steps!/exercise!) but stay focused and try not to get discouraged and it'll all start moving again when your body is ready. I promise.

Living with a new stomach?
You're supposed to feel full really fast. That's the whole point of the new stomach - to keep you from eating as much. You're still new to this, so it's going to take a while longer for you to adjust both physically and mentally to the new you. It's okay. We've all been there. You've GOT THIS! Good luck on your WLS journey.

Need a motivation re-start!!!
Stick to/get back to the basics of tracking all of your food and water intake. Focus on protein 60g or more a day. Exercise if you can. You'll start losing again. Keep in mind why you had WLS in the first place and that'll motivate you to get back on track.

Cheated on my pre op
I'm not going to beat up on you, like you said we're only human, but this is so important that you need to stay focused on the big picture and the reason you've having WLS and stick to the pre-op diet going forward.

VGS after many abdominal surgeries
What about a lap band? Would that be something you could do?
