    To Much??

Hi, I see you're from the toms river area. I'm from the princeton area and wonder how did you decide what to have done - i want it all - where did you have your procedure done and would you recommend your doctor? I am going to a seminar tomorrow in my area and have lots of questions. i want to do this but not sure - fear of the knife, costs, how long will i be laid up and on and on. thanks for your advice.

    Southern Jersey...Anybody?

Depending on where you're at determines if I'm north, central or south Jersey - Lawrenceville/Princeton area. The fee is worth every penny, nickel, dime and dollar! Best of luck to you. I am thrilled with my LB!

    East Brunswick/Spotswood Area!

Hi Jersey Girl, Sounds like you are doing better. Congratulations on sticking with it and paying attention to what works and what doesn't work for you. Each of us is different in our journey. I am guessing that Dr. Chau performed your surgery, since you are a NJ Bariatric patient. Dr. Chau also did my lap band in May 2008. I plan on attending the upcoming DECEMBER 7TH meeting not December 2nd, because I am busy. Maybe I'll see you there. All the best,

    Eighteen month Check-in

Hi, I can't believe its been 18 months for us. I am not at restriction and really trying hard to not overeat, continue to eat slow, chew well and the hardest thing has been having to wait to drink after meals. But its all worth it. I had been going to the gym 5 times a week but have really slowed down exercising because of work and home commitments; however, being ever so careful and thinking about what I put in my mouth has helped me to continue to lose weight ever so slowly but that's o.k. too. Good luck to all of us out there!

New Jersey chat October, November, December

Hi, I've done well but welcome the chance to meet other "Jersey Girls" in Princeton area who have been banded perhaps for coffee on a Saturday morning or other day. My NJ Bariatrics Support group meets once a month on a day that is not convenient. Think its important for me to try to get together and support our lifestyle changes as a result of LAP-BAND®.
  10. I went to NJ Bariatrics not knowing what type of bariatric surgery was right for me. I was banded in May 2008 and according to my scale have lost 80 lbs. I thank Dr. Chau for his excellent care and confidence in me and know that this surgery saved my life. Thank you Dr. Chau and the staff at NJ Bariatrics - Center for Excellence. Flora

    NJ Bandster meet up

I would love to meet up with all my NJ bandsters. Some suggestions: Liberty State Park, Jersey City; Island Beach State Park, Batsto Village. Or we could do the mall thing - the new Jersey Shore Premium Outlets has a nice dining area and great for shopping. Its exit 100A on the GSP or Historic Towne of Smithville great for shopping and walking around. I'm in the Princeton area. That's kind of central. Let me know where and I'll be there.
  13. Finally a summer Down the Shore and I feel great about the new me in a swimsuit! Finally! Thank you NJ Bariatrics and bandsters !

You're a little far from me in Princeton but glad to know you're there...Jersey Rocks!

    Recommendations: Doctors in North NJ?

Not North Jersey but if there is anyone looking for a physician in the Central Jersey (Princeton) area, I used Dr. Chau from NJ Bariatrics Group. He was and is great!

    Any regrets?

No regrets. I was banded in May 2008 and am down 50 lbs. Most others are doing better than me. I'm happy with the new me. I only vomit when I don't do what I am suppose to do: eating too fast, chewing too litte, and out of habit eating when I am not hungry. Recognizing this, I do my best to eat very slowly, chew food well, and will power. Oh exercising 4 times a week helps. It's worth it. I haven been this weight in years! Good luck.

    Family Response

Just think about how healthy you are now and how good you look! She'll just have to get used to the new you. You're doing great. Congrats!

Banded at 58. Should have done it sooner but better late than never!
  20. Hi Bandana,

Just trying to find a NJ friend to chat with. I'm in the Princeton area. Need to find a friend to exercise with. I'm getting bored. Thanks for listening.

    How often do you weigh?

I step on that scale once a day and hate to say but sometimes twice and agree with you that it can be depressing weighing once a day; however, for now I don't plan on changing until I am more comfortable at my weight. Good luck!

Did you tell others about surgery?

I told my then 17 year old daughter 1-2 months before. She was worried but supportive. Told close friends and co-workers the night before. All were so happy for me and encouraging. I knew then that they knew what I had always know that I was fat and needed to get my weight and health under control but were kind to NEVER say anything. Told rest of family months later as the lbs come off. Good luck!
  25. If the conference were in Livingston, you would fly into Newark Liberty Airport (Ewr) which is a 20 minute drive to Livingston.
