Nancytx reacted to Sprinkles1 in I shaved my head...Long story short, I shaved my head due to MASSIVE hair loss after bypass. I was losing clumps of hair every day and had a very obvious bald spot. I bought a hair topper wig to cover it with but it only helped for 2 weeks before it no longer covered the growing baldness. So I said screw it.... and shaved my entire head!
I feel empowered. It's something I've always wanted to do.
I'm also 248lbs currently! My starting weight was 340lbs. Worth the hair loss

Nancytx reacted to elcee in Post OP questionThere doesn’t seem to be a lot on the net probably because most Drs are very conservative. I did however find this

Interestingly patients that go overseas to Asia seem to be put onto solids straight after surgery.

Nancytx reacted to looly in Trouble staying on my pre-op dietIt's just two weeks - it'll pass soon enough.
Bite the bullet and stick to it - it'll make your liver pliable and your surgery safer.

Nancytx reacted to Largolinda in Trouble staying on my pre-op dietThe pre-op diet is a tough one. I remember the day before my weigh-in...I had 2 more pounds to lose. So I just filled my tummy with Crystal Light drinks - no food. Yep, those 2 pounds were gone, just in time to qualify for surgery.

Nancytx reacted to JessLess in Trouble staying on my pre-op dietI did a Protein Shake for breakfast and a Lean Cuisine meal for lunch and dinner for a week pre-op. That's what my surgeon asked us to do. It was unpleasant but not terrible.

Nancytx reacted to Wendums in Trouble staying on my pre-op dietI think just cutting back to a 1000 calorie diet sounds harder than the 2 week liquid pre op I was made to do (I'm kinda all or nothing). Your diet seems like it would need a lot of will power while limiting real food intake. What kept me on point pre op was the fear of doing anything to mess up my surgery from happening. Do your best, wish I had some tips for you, but I would be struggling just like you. Just know that after surgery you'll be lucky to take in 600 cal a day, that includes protein shakes. Something to look forward to. Stay strong, you can do this.
