  1. Yes, in Albany at Palmyra Hospital.
  2. That's just a few days away! I'm so happy for you. I still haven't had much success with my dieting, but keep hoping my mindset will improve. It will be good to have someone so close by to talk to. Hope we can become friends. There is not a support group here in Houston County. I keep searching for people to go to the meetings with, but have had no luck. I don't mind driving, but don't want to be on the roads alone so late in the evenings. If you are interested let me know. Hope to hear from you again.
  3. You didn't say when you actually got your band, so I don't know how long you've been struggling. I've had mine for almost 1 year and have been struggling since Christmas, losing and gaining the same 10 pounds. Discovered I have Atrial Fibrulation and now can't have any leafy green vegetables because of the medications that I must take. Did you know that everything is a leafy green vegetable? Alright, maybe not, but it sure has put a kink in the foods I was relying on to lose weight. I feel like my band is just right, but my mind needs some adjusting. Anybody out there have any answers??? At least I'm haven't gained 50 lbs..... As for the Support Group, I've been twice and did enjoy it, but it takes me more than an hour to get there, then there's also the return trip home. I didn't find it that helpful. I wish I could find a blog that addresses the Lap Band issues that we face. One written by a trusted professional.
  4. Wondered the same thing this afternoon. Checked to see if the group was still 'in business'.
  5. Does anyone know of a flavorless protein powder or liquid that I can add to food or hot tea? I met someone at a support group meeting and didn't get her name. She uses it everyday in her breakfast oatmeal and swears she can't taste the difference. Thanks
  6. Does anyone know of a tasteless (maybe I mean unflavored) protein powder that I could use in a cup of hot tea? I use Super Advanced Whey Protein Powder, vanilla and strawberry in skim milk, but I could sure use a change and I love hot tea. I remember someone at one of the support meetings talking about a protein powder she used in her morning oatmeal that had no flavor. Thanks for any advice. Jo
  7. I want to know about the receipts for tax purposes, too. I asked for receipts and was told they would mail me one, but I never got it and did not follow-up. I do have my canceled checks. I should have done about this before now.
  8. I'm definitely gonna be there, too. I'm so excited that it will be in the morning as I'm not comfortable traveling from I75 to Albany after dark. I always sit up front since I'm so easily distracted. Jo
  9. Congratulations! What a great way to start the New Year!! I could eat bread after the first few fills, but once I got to the "Sweet Spot" (7.5cc) I found out that bread just won't go thru my stoma. I can eat croutons on a salad, but not many. Any hot, fluffy bread just isn't worth my time anymore, it just sits there til it 'comes back up' (very uncomfortable). The only time that's a problem is in restaurants when they bring that great, hot, fresh, wonderful smelling bread to the table and I loose my ability to reason.
  10. I'm so happy for you. It will be the BEST Christmas present you can imagine. I was self-pay, too, and my family and I all agree it was money well spent!! RosieJo
  11. I live in Perry and would love to have a support group close to home. Just let me know the time and place. Blessings RosieJo
  12. Lojo, Welcome to our group. I'm originally from Dublin, too, though I haven't lived there for many years. I'm 57 and had my surgery in May. Just wish I had know this was available many years ago!! It is a wonderful tool and now that I've had several fills it is really working for me. Don't be concerned about the Sugar Buster's pre-op diet. I was so happy to be having the surgery that the diet was a breeze. I wish I could offer insurance advice, but I was self-pay and even though I was a "slow starter", I've finally begun to really see much progress. The best advice I have for you is 'Ask lots of questions' and remember that there are lots of us going through the same experiences. Blessings, RosieJo
  13. Well, I just got back from the Galleria Mall. I walked around it 6 times with my husband (Mr. Skinny) then sat and drank unsweetened iced tea while he ate lunch from Chen's Wok. I ate 2 hard boiled eggs for lunch when we got home. Good for me!! Of, course, he'll probably lose 5 lbs. by the end of the week.........but, I feel better...I do, really I do.
  14. I have lost enough weight to equal 10 obese people in my 57 years, so I have most of the answers. I just can't seem to make the answers work for me! I'm 4 months out of surgery and I've barely made a start in losing this time. You'd think being 'self-pay' would be motivation enough, but I just can't seem to master the correct behavior...... I have no appetite in the morning and eat a light lunch, so that's easy. I have no trouble not snacking in the afternoon, so that's fine, too! But come evening time, I'm FAMISHED and I'm like an out-of-control eating machine til I go to sleep. I've tried going to bed around 9pm, but then I'm up by 4:30-5:30 and that just makes the evening come earlier.
  15. Are you getting enough sleep and enough Water. Believe it or not, it's a major factor with me. Now, if I could just get the carbs to sleep..... 'cause if I'm sleeping, I'm not eating. "Carbohydrate Woman"
  16. I was banded by Dr Bagnato, too, so mine is above my left breast. I have lost count of how many people have asked to feel it!!! Mostly RN's. Anyway, better they feel it below my collarbone than "rubbing my tummy"---YUCK.
  17. I was expecting closer to 2 hours, of course the trip down there is over an hour for me. I just might have to move closer to Albany! Jo
  18. I did want to be there, but was really worried about being so tired on the trip home and my husband was willing to keep me company, but he was more tired than I was. How long did it last? Jo
  19. Well, now I'm afraid I'll drive all the way from Perry only to find out that no one else is coming! Shoot and Dagnabbit!!! What should I do?
  20. Well, both the Ladies that were going to ride with me have had to change their plans, so......looks like my husband will be coming with me because it is such a long drive and we will be late getting home. I hope no one minds a naturally skinny "older" man at the meeting.
  21. Paragirl, You and your family are in my prayers. I wish I had wise words to offer you that could fix your situation. Do you have a "mediator" or someone in your family (or his) who can intervene (sp?) on your children's behalf. Someone who might be able to talk to him alone with out the new wife around......
  22. I was really looking forward to meeting you tonight, not just because you are so close to my height, but because you have such a great attitude...and I want to learn how to add all the 'extras' my to signature thingy like you did!
  23. I forgot to RSVP, but I guess it's not too late. Two people have asked to ride with me. I still have room for more if anyone else is interested.
  24. YEAH!!! I live about a mile off I75 exit 138 just off 341. You can come to my house and leave your car and I'll drive the rest of the way. I'm so happy and hope others might join us. You can email me at rjbs51@yahoo.com and we'll make plans. RosieJo
  25. OK!! I guess I'm just "dumb as they come", but what does NSV stand for??? I have had to ask for seat belt extenders many times and the steward's have always been fast and discrete about bring them to me, but it's still embarrassing. The first time I flew without one was a joy that most just can not understand. CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm looking forward to attending the support group meeting on the 9th. Is anyone who lives (or will be driving thru) the Perry area want to carpool? I'd be happy to drive and would love the company!!!! RosieJo
