    Last-Minute Nerves

I think I've spent $20,000 on weight watchers, nutri system, McDonald's, and snickers. Surgery is a much better return on investment.

    Highest weight

I'm on day 3 post o.p. and doing well. I stepped on the scale, just like my doctor said NOT to do. Totally reminded me of being at my heaviest (at least heaviest recorded weight). it we at Weight Watchers, 365. I had to be taken from the "regular" scales to the industrial supper-fat scale in a stinky back room. I felt so bad, too fat for weight watchers. Never again, my friends, never again. I plan to live a healthy lifestyle. I hope not to get preachy or like a "dry drunk". I'll be working toward erasing (aka coming to terms with) bad-fat experiences. Anyone else??

    The Thrill Is Gone

Love this post. I'm day 3 post o.p. * i used to eat huge amounts of desserts watching Biggest Loser * 60o lb life, still a go-to, but now pay closer attention to the surgery and recovery * My favorite trip was to the grocery store. I certainly ate my emotions and tried to bake everyone happy. * I spent so much time, money, fat at fast food. I would actually justify a cheeseburger and fries as part of a healthy diet. Then drive through the next set of arches for a frappe and pie.

    It’s Go Time!!

Rocking the pre OP look! My surgery was Monday, as well. Nausea and gas pain was horrible. The pain boosted my blood pressure sky-high and messed with blood sugars. Lots of injections. Day 3 and I'm home. Finally passing gas.....tmi....i never thought I'd be so excited about this. Sipping water and diluted apple juice. Walking during commercials in the Hallmark Christmas movies 🎅. Congratulations to you! This is a big commitment to better health (And regular sized clothes) and a helpful opportunity.

    First day home

Hi folks, I'm home. Am not dealing well with gas pain. So happy to be this far. Sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk. did anyone use any gas relieving meds such as gas ex?
  7. Hello folks, My surgery is set for Monday morning! Nervous, excited, nervous, excited....... This is officially my first surgery (except for a c-section). I am very nervous about going under anaesthesia. This forum has been so helpful and I thank you for all the information and sharing.

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

TOMORROW is the day! I am on clear liquids until midnight then NPO. Keeping all November sleevers in my thoughts and prayers. This is my first surgery (besides a c-section) and I am nervous. My biggest concerns are handling pain (I'm kinda a pain wimp) and dealing with "buyer's remorse."

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

    I have BCBS also.
  10. Night before surgery............. I am strangely calm. I didn't get everything completed at home that I planned, but that's ok. Clear liquids until midnight, then NPO. I'm nervous about the surgery and how I'll deal with emotions post op. Here's an idea I am going to try: I wrote all kinds of emotional thoughts (yup, from the forum) that might come up. You know them: "What did I just do?" "I wish I never did this" "I'm so sad." "The pain is worse than I thought." This way when feelings and doubt creeps in (or jumps in full force) I can see that it is normal and I can get through it. I'll let you know how it works.....or doesn't. Good luck to all my surgery date friends!!!!!!
  11. Hello October sleevers! Congratulations on your big day! I am sending good vibes to all. I was scheduled for 10/29. Cancelled because there are "most steps" to complete with insurance. I am very thankful for my insurance. The requirements are lengthy and, at times, tedious. 6 months Dr. supervised diet.....check. Psych eval.......check. Psych eval actually getting to surgeon and insurance......took two months, but check. I checked with my insurance many times to make sure everything was done. I still have "one" task to complete. It's 8 phone calls with a "health coach" at my insurance company. Only after this is completed can the dr office send in for approval. Ugh. Puts me into November. I thought I might learn something new and exciting from these calls, but no. The first call, the health coach had me read some articles to discuss at next phone call. The articles were from WebMD, really?? So, frustrated and disappointed. But I've been hugely fat for a long time, a few more weeks won't hurt.
  12. Surgery is scheduled for 10/29. I call my insurance daily. I'm thankful bariatric surgery is in my plan. The requirements are still daunting. What requirements did people find helpful and/or unnecessary?
  13. You are strong! I've felt alone at times, but have been finding good support in unexpected places like this forum and family that I never ever thought would support me in this endeavor. Dealing with the "unknowing advisors" (You know them...."Just eat healthy, go keto, etc.") is tough. My best response is to smile and say, "I'm doing what's best for me." You got this!
