    Oh my chicken is rough

I've only had it happen once where I actually vomited and it was the first time I ate corn. About 3 weeks post op..about 10 minutes after I ate it, it decided to needed to come back up. It was simply a matter of my stomach wasnt ready for it yet as I tried again a week later and it was fine. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app

    Oh my chicken is rough

Everyone seems to call it something different. My dietician called it the foamies...its what happens when you eat something but dont chew it well enough or your stomach doesnt like it so it vacates it through making you vomit. Lots of foam and or slimy spit comes up with it. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app

    Dating how to's?

I have been single for a very long time at least 10 years. I never thought myself to be worthy of a relationship prior because I was ashamed of how I looked. Now that I have had bypass surgery and have lost a total of 180 lbs from my highest weight I'd like to find someone. Don't get me wrong I still have a long way to go on this journey I am still very much over weight but not nearly as over weight as I once was. I still have self esteem issues but I think putting myself out there and dating again could help with that too. It's been so long since I've went through the dating phase it's like I've forgotten how to date I have no idea where to even start. I am quite shy in person so that tends to be off putting to some.. any ideas or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app

    Secret sleevers?

I didn't tell anyone that I was having surgery or even thinking about it. I live in Canada so our process is different. We can't just walk into a surgeons office and say I want such a d such surgery how much is it. All of our surgeries (unless cosmetic) are covered by our healthcare/government. So you need to be referred ect. Anyway, when I started the process I didn't tell anyone. I knew what i wanted and didn't want to deal with the drama and people thinking they could talk me out of doing it. So I asked my doctor to refer me to my local bariatric clinic. It took 18 months to get into the program. But was so worth the wait. Not only would they be doing the surgery but I had unlimited access to a psychologist, dietician, nurse, doctor, surgeon and other specialists. They taught me a lot, how to maintain weight, the healthy way of eating. What to expect before and after surgery...and so much more. It was 9 months after joining the clinic that I met with my surgeon and signed my consent forms for surgery. 2 months after that I started my epic long liquid diet. Just before I started my liquid diet is when I told close friends and family. As I would have to explain why I wasn't eating and only drinking shakes anyway. By then I think they thought it was to late to talk me out of it anyway as I had RNY bypass 4.5 months later. Now, however I tell people. If someone asks me how I've lost weight I tell them from portion and calorie control as well as having surgery to help me. Most are genuinely curious about the surgery. So I look at it as a chance to educate and squash so many of the misconceptions about having weight loss surgery. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app

    Oh my chicken is rough

It might be to dry. Try eating it with a little gravy or something to moisten it. That's what my dietician suggested for me and it worked. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app

    Dating how to's?

True enough there is no falsehoods when chatting about a mutual interest. There is no reason to be boastful. It's a nice easy way to get comfortable with someone at the same time. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app

    Dating how to's?

I haven't tried either of those. I'm a little hesitant with sites I need to pay for. Granted I understand the whole you get what you pay for thing. Having to pay for something generally weed out the less than serious types that are just looking for booty calls. I've nothing against the hookups I just don't know if it's something i could do.. Thank you for replying. Any ideas on where to meet people? I've tried dating sites in the past but was never met with anything other than "Hey do you wanna hook up?" kind of messages. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app

    Protein

To much of certain vitamins aren't good for you and can cause problems. For example to much calcium can cause kidney stones or gall stones. I'd stick to whatever was recommended that you take. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app

    Full size pills/medication

I've never cut or crushed my pills. I take them whole as is. I'm 9 months out from RNY. I take a Prenatal Vitamin, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Calcium Citrate and Biotin. I think most vitamins come in a liquid or chewable now though so maybe see if you can find either in the ones that you are having problems with. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. I was on them last year..they are outrageously expensive I was lucky enough to have a doctor that gave me samples so I wouldn't have to pay for it. But Saxenda and Victoza are exactly the same drug just different brands. There is no difference in the one being lower than the other. When I went to the pharmacy though Victoza was cheaper than Saxenda. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app

    Saxenda

I took Saxenda from Feb.2,2017 up until Dec.6,2017 it helped me a lot with losing weight and controlling my hunger. I never had any problems with it though or had any side affects either. But I was instructed to stop taking it after I had my surgery on Dec.7,2017. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. I was terrified of having surgery as I had never had any kind of surgery before. I had never been put to sleep that was my biggest fear.. that I wouldn't wake back up. Long story short I had surgery regardless as I knew I needed to. If i didnt have surgery I knew I wouldn't be around in the next 5 years. I was on the verge of becoming bedridden. I was 517 lbs at my highest in September 2016. I had RNY gastric bypass December 2017. I was down to 412 lbs on the day of my surgery..by working with a dietician and cutting back my calories and learning to eat properly I was able to lose 105 lbs before surgery. I live in Canada they wont do weight loss surgery if your BMI is over 55%. So I needed to lose weight before I could have surgery. I did 4.5 months of Optifast liquid diet.. it was brutal nothing but 4 shakes a day. I knew that I would never be able to lose enough weight on my own and keep it off. The surgery helps me keep it off. I'm 9 months out from surgery and currently weigh 337 lbs. The surgery was the best decision I could have ever made for me. Also another thing you could look into..prior to surgery I was on an injectable drug called Saxenda or Victoza (same drug just different brand)..it helped me lose weight and also helps control hunger. It was an injection once a day. As for food.. my dietician and psychologist both told me that there was no reason that I couldn't enjoy the foods I did before but doing so in moderation. I eat all the same things as the rest of the family just smaller portions. Ultimately only you can make the best decision for you though. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app

  20. I've never been to Peace River myself but I've heard only good things about it. I'm sure you will get there one day soon. I've heard of Mount Vernon.. funnily enough I've never been to BC myself.. would love to go one day though. I am sorry to hear about your stomach.. I hope it all gets cleared up soon and is nothing serious. My left side was more bruised than the right and I bruised badly because of the blood thinner injections I had to have after surgery. I was told to expect more bruising on the left side than the right as a lot of the work and such was done on the left. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. I don't think there is a set number that is to much. I think it varies from person to person. Do you have a dietician/nutritionist that you could call to ask. My dietician has me on a minimum of 95g of protein per day but has also told me if I get more in that's great. So I usually average between 95g- 110g. Forgot diet plan

For myself my dietician put me on 1200 calories as early as 2 weeks post op. I had RNY and started solid foods 2 weeks after surgery. Once I started eating solid foods it took me about a week to build up to the 1200 calories. I was also given a target of a minimum of 95g of protein and could have up to 130g of carbs but had to space them out throughout the day I couldn't have them all at once which made sense. At my 6 month check up with my dietician she said I was still losing weight to quickly ar it should have started to slow down by the 4-6 months but mine hadn't so she increased my calories to 1400. Now at 9 months out it has slowed down but I am still losing. I have never stepped foot in a gym since surgery nor do I have an active lifestyle. I don't do much for exercise because I am physically unable to do most exercises due to severe arthritis in my knees and my right knee being out of alignment and doesn't bend more than a sitting position. I am also a 34 year old female.. but as you've said the plans are different all over. Different surgeons and different dietitians have different plans and approaches. How old were you when?

I was 33 when I had my RNY. 3 months before my 34th birthday. I went to my doctor 1 month before my 31st birthday and asked him to refer me to my local clinic that deals with obesity. If I could get into the clinic I wouldn't have to pay for the surgery. The clinic does have a long wait list though. I waited 18 months to get into the clinic. I definitely wish I had of done it sooner but for me it was a matter of stubbornness I didnt want to admit that I had a problem and needed help..so I ignored it until I couldn't ignore it any longer. 24. Those things arent necessarily off the menu for forever. My dietician told me that there is no reason why I couldn't still enjoy the foods I did before just in moderation. I'm 9 months out from RNY..I eat all the same foods that the rest of the family does I just eat smaller portions. I went to the fair here where I live for the first time in like 8 years this summer (I was 7 months post op when I went). I had a corn dog. Well a bite of one because it doesn't take me much for me to get full. I also had Ice cream and pie a bite or two. I had some funnel cake..I went with my mom, bestfriend and her son. What I didn't eat I gave to them. I've also had alcohol..3 months post op I went out to celebrate my birthday. I was told that I could have alcohol 3 weeks post op. But to be careful how much I drink because alcohol will effect me differently now because its processed faster. I've had no problems at all.. it just takes time to adjust to all the new changes. You've got this! Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app
