Alot of people have acid reflux and the hernia ...that will not stop being able to have the band. My journey started in Feb 08 and my surgery was 10/6/08 by Dr Hoffman. I lost 17 pounds pre-op on South Beach and have lost 23 more since surgery. That's not bad considering Thanksgiving & Christmas. I had Independent Health and had no trouble being approved for the surgery. Good luck on your journey! BTW there is a Buffalo/Dr Hoffman thread here too

Lori, I was banded 10/6/08 and I am 54 yr old. Starting weight was 260 and pre-op was 243 I feel great...I have been on clear liquids and protein since surgery. I haven't had much problems with gas or hunger either (only mind hunger lol) I go for my post op tomorrow afternoon but my weight is definitely down! Hi all.. had my surgery Monday morning, spent the night in the hospital and home on Tuesday. Other than some nausea and port site pain I feel great! Been outside walking today..the fresh air feel good.

My surgery is tomorrow morning...nervous and excited all at once By tomorrow I will officially be in bandland! I am so ready to be a Smashing Pumpkin!!! Be sure to keep happy thoughts going for me....

Can October be only 3 days away??? I get more nervous and excited as my surgery gets closer! I go for my medical clearance tomorrow and final weigh -in on Tuesday Big day is Oct 6th 9:30AM in Buffalo NY

Hi all! I saw my doctor today and surgery is scheduled for Oct 6th 9:30AM. I don't have insurance approval yet but the doctor said not to worry...approval is almost guaranteed! I am so ready to join the "October bandsters"!!! :biggrin:
