  1. Depends on your insurance. Some will deny with ANY gain. Others don’t care. I would ask your surgeon.
  2. I’ll be interested to hear what my surgeon recommends. I was planning on the sleeve since I had no GERD issue or metabolic disease we were trying to cure. But perhaps a bypass may be better. We’ll see. I really wanted to avoid some of the RNY side effects. I’m glad you’re doing well!!
  3. Thanks! Did you have ulcers too?
  4. Hmmmm, she just has me on bid Protonix
  5. Were you positive for H Pylori? I’m waiting on pathology but I’ve heard that treatment is gross. I tested H Pylori negative in the breath test.
  6. It’s weird because I’ve never had a single symptom until the EGD. Now my stomach aches. It’s a dull hurt. But not before.
  7. Ugh! Were you having symptoms? That’s the thing. I’ve never had an issue. It’s just so weird!!!
  8. I heard from my care coordinator. Once they get the pathology results they will have the surgeon review. But it sounds like they will delay like you’re saying. She did mention that he may prefer another type of WLS. My ulcers are right next to the pyloric valve so a bypass would not affect them. Not sure how I feel about that but we’ll see. Just started treatment.
  9. Damn it. Just had my pre-op EGD. They found 2 ulcers and duodenitis. Total shock as I have zero symptoms, never had reflux, etc. Treating with 12 weeks of Protonix then repeat EGD. She cleared me for surgery in 4-6 weeks. I had been on target for surgery mid-December but now I’m wondering if they will postpone me until it’s verified as treated. Has anyone else had the sleeve with evidence of ulcers on the EGD?
  10. You’re moving right along. The psych eval wasn’t what I expected. Really she went over my questionnaire and asked a couple question about different answers. It was almost mostly a teaching session. Yes, I did a personality test too. My first weigh in will be 9/4. So I should end the first part of November with surgery in late November to December.
  11. I get 3 dairy servings (either 1 cup of milk) or yogurt. I’ve been doing the yogurt so I get to “eat” something. Ugh! Maybe I’ll get used to it. ?
  12. Psych eval - DONE Pulmonalogist - tomorrow Then next week is cardiology Slowly working my way through my list.
  13. So today is day one of a week of liquid protein shakes of my preop diet (then 2 weeks of high protein, low carb, low fat eating then 1 week of protein liquid again alternating). The shakes make me feel nauseous. They are just too sweet. I’m dealing with Premier Protein - vanilla, chocolate, & caramel. My plan is to do Unjury unflavored in water with crystal light but my shipment won’t get here until Tuesday. Any tips???
  14. How much did you lose prior to surgery and what is the length of your pre-op diet? I have a 3 month pre-op diet that I started on 8/2. I weighed 366.6 at my PCP 2 weeks prior to starting the diet. I weighed 350.4 today and I start liquid protein on Thursday for a week. ? I’m starting to think I can get some significant weight off before surgery!!!
  15. Yes, Unjury is the kind I’m looking at. Ordering the unflavored and a sample pack of the flavors.
  16. Yes, I know it’s not flavorless. Did anyone do unflavored protein powder in water with Crystal Light instead of flavored protein drinks??? Such expense to figure out what you like and can tolerate. I think that might be the best option for me if the protein “taste” is masked.
  17. Of course I wouldn’t want surgery if I wasn’t healthy but I literally have no co-morbidities other than super mild (like barely tested high enough for treatment) sleep apnea. That’s it. The cardiology, pulmonologist and EGD seem a little overkill. But I trust my surgeon. I’ll be glad when it’s all over.
  18. Awesome!! What are you having? Sleeve here as I have no metabolic conditions and my surgeon says long term weight loss, surprisingly, is pretty equal. I’m a little annoyed with all the clearances as I have zero medical conditions but I will do what I’m told.
  19. So many clearances: cardiology, pulmonary, psych, EGD, nutrition. I thought they would all be hard to schedule but everything is happening in the next 30 days!! I still have my 3 month diet requirement for insurance approval. It’s overwhelming when I think about it. Everything starts off with psych evaluation on Monday and I’m a bit anxious about it. Hoping to have surgery in early December.
  20. I actually had their Cesar tonight. It sucked. I couldn’t finish my salad. ? i think i may have to learn to love vinaigrettes.
  21. Ugh. Trying to find a salad dressing that actually tastes good. I normally have Thousand Island or Honey Mustard but I haven’t found any low carb, low sugar, low fat dressings. Any recommendations?
  22. Oh I think he’ll be supportive. It’s my own mental hang-ups. He’s always been normal weight so he doesn’t “get” the struggle. Plus it feels like failure to me. That I couldn’t do it myself and had to resort to surgical help. I just don’t like talking about it. I’m going to have to bring it up soon. I have a pre-op EGD that I’ll need a ride home from. Lol!!!
  23. Great! Thanks for the update!! My evaluator is herself a bariatric surgery recipient so that puts me at ease. It’s so weird to me that so far the judgment that I perceived would happen hasn’t happened. That being said - I’m super private person. I haven’t even told my husband yet. If I didn’t have to tell anyone I wouldn’t. Ugh! How long was yours? She said it is 2 hours.
  24. What was it like? I have mine on the 13th.
