  1. Can you stall on a pre-op diet? I’ve been on it for 2 weeks and have another 2 weeks to go.

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

    You’re my surgery twin!! :)
  3. I have to do 4 weeks of pre-op. I had to buy the food from my surgeons office. It is DISGUSTING! It’s literally packets of food and you add water to them. Listen I can do any diet for the most part bc I’ve done them before.. but this watered down nasty food is making feel starved, angry and emotional.... this is only day 2. I don’t want to hear that I’m mentally not ready for surgery bc I am. But I’ve heard of other people having different diets. Is anyone allowed to have premiere protein shakes??? What other diets do your doctors have you on to shrink your liver???
  4. Does anyone know why we can’t have egg yokes in pre-op diet? I am allowed egg whites but obviously not as good haha. All I can find on google is possibly they effect cholesterol.

    Egg whites and egg yoke

@macadamia ohhh that’s actually a really good idea! Thank you!

    Egg whites and egg yoke

I guess I wonder if it’d be okay to cheat on my diet if I had plain scrambled eggs a couple of times a week?? I mean of course it’s not okay to cheat but if I did at least it’d be healthy?

    Egg whites and egg yoke

Ugh yes and all the flavor is correct!

    Self pay

I’m self pay. Mine is $14,900. Also have to buy their pre-op diet food which is $98/week. I didn’t have to do a sleep study or really any other testing. I did get an endoscope done since my insurance covered it. You’re pcp can do the lab work or if you need any other labs done for wherever you go, you can usually go to your own lab if insurance will cover that as well. I’m getting my surgery done at JourneyLite in Cincinnati. :)
  9. Thank you.. I will stick around for now bc the support is needed when other around you aren’t going through the same thing. Thank you again for encouraging words!!
  10. @chunckysoup thank you for your response! I did give them a call today but I guess with it being Friday the dietitian wasn’t in. I actually looove the premier protein shakes, I’m hoping they say I can change it up and have those.
  11. @ Matt Z actually no I didn’t say any of those things. I think you more harsh than supportive in your first comment... and well now your second comment. Bc it’s the internet.. it’s easy to take things out of context. I wrote on here to get support as people said.. this is a place for support. I also wrote on here out of curiosity as to what other pre-op diets others are on. Not once did I say I was not going to follow my surgeons instructions. If part of the whole process is dealing with the emotions of it and I don’t have anyone around me going through it, then wouldn’t be smart to reach out to others that are? All you have done is discouraged me from getting on any of these forums at all. I didn’t disrespect you in any way nor did I twist anything you said. Good luck to you!
  12. @frustr8 I know I’m not one of the veterans on this one but I do think my surgeon could have prepared me more for what the pre-op diet was going to be. I cold turkey have had to start on their diet with no mental preparation. If I were you I would ease into it at the 4week mark or even now. That way you have at least have an idea of how your body is going to feel and adjust some.
  13. @Matt Z I planned on discussing it with my surgeon but I do want to hear what other diets people are on out there. I’m self paying for surgery... there is no doubt in my mind this was another thing to add on to the bill. When I said angry, emotional and feel starved... what female do you know that is not a pure asshole when they are hungry? Lol I was looking for support here from others whom have these emotions as well.

    August bypassers/sleevers

I’m in Ohio as the well! Cincinnati.. used to live in Columbus! Good luck!
  15. I am having my surgery on a Thursday in August and won’t go back to work for a week and half. I am not good at sitting around for days, I like to be busy. I’ve never had a big surgery. My surgery is outpatient. My question is.. how many days am I going to feel pretty tired? Will I be able to sleep during all those days? I’m worried about going stir crazy and getting depressed during that week off. Hope that doesn’t sound stupid!
  16. Sighhh lord help me.. my surgeon is good looking, making me have a crush! Not married lol. Ok I need to focus. Just finished my pre-op appointment! I have to be on their diet food for 4 weeks before my surgery. I will need to lose 14lbs which should be fairly easy on this diet ha. Getting very excited for this journey!!!
  17. @frustr8 hahaha right! It’s okay though. Just a little school girl crush! Can’t take me anywhere when I become single again 🤷🏼‍♀️😂
  18. @jodi1980 ohh poop! I’m using the app on my phone. Lol And nope that’s not bad at all! Eye candy is a good thing!! Haha
  19. Also.. can someone tell me how to quote on here? I just can’t figure it out.
  20. @matt z hahaha thank you!!! Just a school girl crush.. new single has me feeling good! 😁

    Kids and food

I don’t have kids myself so I cannot speak to that perspective so much. However I do have nieces and nephews. My brother and his wife have taken the healthy food thing too far. My 12 year old niece should not necessarily know “oh that has a lot of calories in it” yes I would want them making healthy choices but I would not want my niece to have an unhealthy body image problem going into her teen years. They have made it uncomfortable to be around them at family holidays bc of how much they discuss healthy food and this and that. There should be a point when you just enjoy if it’s a family function or holiday and not make others feel so uncomfortable. Moderation and controlling your potion sizes is always a good idea to keep in mind.

    Whirlwind... 35 days out!

@domi I’m not sure how to quote on this thing.. thank you for encouraging words! I planned on letting everyone know what to do if something were to happen to me. Made sure to check into the life insurance i get from my work too. I will definitely keep working in therapy and turn to these boards for support!!
  23. New to this app and these forums! In 35 days I am having my GS surgery. I’m not so much as nervous for the surgery, I’m more scared I won’t wake up from the surgery and will die. Back in April I had a miscarriage, I didn’t tell anyone about the miscarriage including my bf. Which lead to me becoming depressed and pushing him away. 2 weeks into April I had the opportunity come up for me to be able to get surgery, meaning my aunt had money from when my uncle passed. My depression has gotten worse since the break up. He’s already moved onto a new relationship. I’m going to therapy. Trying a new church out on Sunday (haven’t gone since I was 17, I’m 30 now). Starting a yoga class tonight and I have deleted all social media off of my phone. I also have started to share with people close to me about my miscarriage. I hope I am mentally ready for this in 5-6 weeks. My pre-op appointment is on July 16th and my surgery date is August 16th. I have to do 4 weeks of the pre-op diet.
