How often do you weigh yourself?
I weight myself every morning...I can't help it. I've tried only doing it once a week...but I just can't wait that long...oh well. Every morning works for me.

Lean Cuisines?
I often bring LC's to work, as it's an easy and inexpensive thing to have for lunch. I find that as long as I eat them very slowly (like with everything) and chew a lot, that I don't have any problems. Plus they are tasty and make me feel like I'm cheating, even though I'm not. Lastly they are the perfect size, I find myself totally full after I finish one, if not before. However, I would advise not to have them for lunch and dinner regularly. They do have a lot of sodium, and are obviously very processed foods.

Pain Level From Surgery
I don't think that's a fair thing to say, I had a wonderful surgeon who did an amazing job, but i still had a lot of pain. Every BODY is different and different people react differently to different things. I did'nt have any of the gas pains that people talk about but I did have a lot of pain around my port area. I was unable to move without a ton of pain for at least a week. Having said all of that though, I would do it again in a second, and even though I had a lot of pain, it was abolutly worth every benefit I'm getting now, 75lbs lighter. Good luck to you!

weight loss before 1st fill
I had my surgery at the end of April, and had my first fill the begining of June and I believe I lost around 20lbs in that time. However from what I've been told/heard, it's not uncommon NOT to loose much before your first fill. And that in-fact, you shouldn't even really be thinkng about loosing at this point, but more just about healing. (easier said then done I know). After I had my fill, I became SO HUNGRY - it was the strangest thing, I thought something was wrong, b/c I felt as though I could eat more than I could before the fill. And then about two weeks out from the fill I started to see a huge difference and have had a lot of restriction every since. I have a 4cc band and have only had one fill of 1cc, and woudn't even think of getting another fill at this point. I think in general my biggest challenge has been to clearly differenciate between head hunger and actual hunger, to REALLY be able to tell the difference between the two has become the fine line between loosing or not for me. I find that 9 times out of 10, I think I'm hungry, when I'm really not. Good luck to you!

Vote now......
I'm having my GB removed on Jan. 23. I've had 5 different attackes, 4 of which lasted more than 5 hours and were BRUTAL, one of which was so bad I went to the ER in the middle of the night. It turns out I have a gallstone that every once in a while gets lodged in the upper part of the duct and causes the bad stomach pains, and then goes away after 4-6 hours. I am on a very low fat diet until surgery and hopefully I wont have anymore episodes until then, or after for that matter. From what I hear it's a breaze of a surgery compared to the LB...either way, not looking forward to it by any means.

gallbladder problems?
well after all sorts of testing, including an upper GI (band is perfectly in place still, thank god) my doc has concluded that I need to have the gallbladder out. Of course I'm not looking forward to another surgery, but I know it's the best option for me, and hopefully these painfull episodes will stop.
-
gallbladder problems?
Mine is definitly in the uppper right side - and when it's bad it also feels like I'm going to pop like a balloon...I called my doc today and am going in tomorrow am for an ultra sound.
-
gallbladder problems?
So I'm still not completely clear on what the symptoms are here. Over the last 24 hours or so, I've had very uncomfortable feeling in my uppper stomach, under my rib cage. It almost feels like terrible gas, but I'm not gassy. It's sensitive to the touch, and feels like an over inflated balloon... does this sound familar to those of you who have had thier gallbladers out?

Maia's Birthday

- What is your motivation
Last Feb., my older (and only) sister and her husband told us that they were pregnant. I have always wanted to loose the wieght, but the thought of not being able to keep up with my niece, or possibly not being there as long as possible due to weight complications in the future. That was my final motivational factor. Now my beautiful niece is 4.5 months old and I'm 74lbs lighter, and I know by the time she's walking, I'll be right there every step of the way...without getting short of breath!- Apron Removal
For those of you who have had the apron removal, I'm curious, at what point did you start to notice extra skin? Were you at your goal wieght, near it, etc.? I only ask, because I've lost over 70lbs, have another 40-50 lbs to go, and have not noticed any skin problems, but I'm curious if it's not noticable until I loose more weight... I know the likelyhood of me ever having cosmetic surgery is slim to none, so I'm a bit worried about extra skin when I reach my goal weight.- Abdominal Excersise
It was months before I could do sit-ups. Without doing any my port was very soar for months after surgery, so I didn't want to agrivate it any more with sit-ups. But for the last month or so, I've been trying to do ab work-outs regularly, and I can def. feel a difference. Once this tummy fat is gone, I should have a nice firm tummy under there...- Vitamins?
I take the chewable viactive multi-vitamin and the Viactive calcium chewable. I try to get them both in every day, but I forget sometimes. Also, my nutritionist told my you shouldn't take a mulit and calcium at the same time...anyone else here this? I should ask her next time I go into the docs.- April 2006 Bandsters - Running weight loss totals

Hi Nicole, First off, welcome, and congrats on making the first steps towards a huge change. I am also in Boston, and had the procedure in April by Dr. Hess. When I first met with him, he had only been doing the procedure for about a year or so, but I had heard really good things about him, and as BMC is where my primary doc is, that's where I decided to go. The team there is great, and I've had a GREAT experience with Dr. Hess and his team. Good luck with your journey, and don't hesitate to ask any quesions at all. Best, C- Massachusetts Bandsters Chat
Thanks for the nice words Crispy, I really appreciate it. Any advise...well to be honest, I think I do best when I just take this one day at a time. I know it sounds like such a cliché, but it's the truth. Every day is different and some days things are really hard, others not so much. So I go to the gym as much as I can, but don't beat myself up on the days I can't make it. I make good food decisions MOST of the time, but again, don't feel guilty when I eat something bad. I could probably go on for days, but I'll just leave you with that little tad bit for now, we don't want anyone falling asleep on us. Anyway, keep up the good work, and keep in touch!- Massachusetts Bandsters Chat
I honestly had port pain for months after surgery. I actually started to think that it might always feel that way - but it did go away. Now, it hurts every once in a while (after sit-ups, etc) but not bad at all. - Maia's Birthday
