  1. Deb, don't worry, it gets better I promise. I cried for 3 days after the surgery and I don't know why. Maybe you are just overwhelmed with everything. Take a deep breath and enjoy the ride. ARe you still on liquids or now on mushy or blended foods? Deb in NYC
  2. Lenox Hill Hospital has a Lap Band Support group every 3rd Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
  3. hi everyone. I had my lap band surgery in April of this year and my surgeon was Dr. Shah. I had it done at Lenox hill hospital. Dr. Shah is excellent. I have not had any problems since my surgery. I have continued to go for fills as I haven't found my sweet spot yet. I started at 248 and am now 220. Hope this helps if you have any questions, please ask. Deb
  4. I was banded in april and had 1cc then on June 5th, I had 2cc's added. I felt no restriction at all and was starting to fall into old habits. Yesterday, June 9th I had 1.6cc's for a total of 4.6cc in my band. Yesterday was liquids only and I was fine. Today was solids... It took me 45 minutes to eat a scrambled egg. At lunch I had 2 very thin slices of deli ham and it got stuck. I panicked for a minute or two, but knew I was breathing and could speak, but I was unable to swallow my saliva. I stood this way for 25 minutes until the food passed the band. I had a 1/2 cup of chicken noodle soup afterwards and am now afraid to eat dinner tonight. I would think with all you have in your band you should be full but everyone is different.
  5. you can e-mail me anytime. I need to feel that someone else is going through this too. Lets enjoy each size until we reach our goal. I was a 3x and now a 1x or 18W feels good, I haven't seen this size in 2 years and it's only been 2 months since my surgery. Deb
  6. oh my goodness are you me!!! I had my first fill 2CC's on June 6th and I'm not feeling any different and I feel like I'm slipping in to bad habits again too. I can't get an appointment to see my surgeon until July 17th and that is scaring me. I lost 20 pounds since my surgery on April 21st of this year. I'm glad I came to this board to see I'm not the only one. Debbie
  7. you will be more full when you eat solid foods. don't rush it.
  8. this was a great article. I had my first fill on June 5th. I was banded on April 21, 2008. I also wanted to feel tight as I thought it would keep me from overeating. Dr. Shah gave me 2cc's for my first fill. I can eat a normal meal without side effects and feel comfortable and full. Not Thanksgiving full, but who would want to feel so full and so sick. this was a real eye opener, thanks again. Deb 18 pounds down since surgery day.
  9. I was also banded on 4/21/08 and have lost 17.4 pounds so far. I am starting to feel less and less full between meals. I'm scheduled to go to the doctor on June 5th, it will probably be the date of my first fill.
  10. I was banded on 4/21/08 in NYC, Lenox Hill Hospital by Dr. Paresh Shah and my medical insurance paid for the entire procedure and hospital stay. I have since lost 17.4 pounds and 23 inches
  11. Name:Deb Date you were banded:4/21/08 Weight loss to date:17.4 How are you feeling? Great
  12. 17.4 pounds gone. I was banded on April 21st
  13. I don't know if this would help but would you like a copy of my appeal letter? maybe you can use it as a guide as to what to write? e-mail me at aquilinodeb@aol.com and I will send you a copy. I'll omit my personal information and you can fill in your own information. It worked for me.
  14. I was banded on 4/21/08 at Lenox Hill hospital in NYC. I have Oxford insurance through my employer and the entire cost of everything was included. I only had to pay my co-payment for the physic and nutritionist visits. I don't know about your insurance but that is a shame that you have to pay out of pocket for anything. Last year when I first decided on Lap-Band surgery, I had Healthnet insurance and I had to go to a nutritionist, a physic visit plus 8 consecutive visits to a diet doctor and have a note from Weightwatchers. I was turned down then appealled and was accepted. Then in January my company changed insurance and I had to put through the paperwork again and Oxford approved it. then I was Iron deficient and had to wait 4 months for my iron blood count to go up to 12 to be elligible for the surgery. I have lost 15.4 pound in 16 days so far. Good luck to you. Debbie
  15. I am scheduled to get banded on Monday, April 21st. I pray everything goes well with you. I'm so glad I found this site. Debbie
