WHY is it fine one day and too tight the next?
Yeah...I don't know. I ovulated a few days ago and last night, I was up coughing because I'm too tight. Totalllllly sucks - especially because I was just right last week. My plan is to stick with liquids and soft foods for another day or so and see how it goes. I'm frustrated with the back and forth. So, so frustrated. We'll see how tonight goes (during the day, I feel tighter than I have been, but not too tight). (Mm..yeah, this is me feeling sorry for myself.) xo

WHY is it fine one day and too tight the next?
Fickle Band Syndrome. Actually, mine seems to be directly related to my monthly cyle. Try tracking it over the course of a month or so and see if there are any patterns. Makes it hard to know if you should be filled/unfilled when changes happen for no apparently reason.

First fill & it's out of state...
One other thing to be aware of.....even if you feel ok when you leave the doctor, the pressure created by flying can make you temporarily tighter. So if that happens, it doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem. It should loosen back up when you land. With the swelling from the fill + flying . . . I'm not sure how those two things will work together.

Post-Op Diet
Right...so they did change their rules to appease the complaining masses. If it was me and I knew what I know - I'd really try to stay on liquids for another few days unless you're starving.

Hair loss!
Hi Dan..I'd just wait it out. Some people recommend increasing Protein. Others suggest a product like Knox Gelatin for Nails. Honestly, do something or do nothing . . . if it's related to the band, it's going to stop falling out and start growing back. Seems like mine lasted a little more than a month. xo

Post-Op Diet
Three days out seems early for soft foods to me. Do you know why they changed the diet? I wonder if it was more to accommodate the complaining masses.

Can anyone eat rice at all?
I can eat most everything including rice, some breads, and pasta. I'm out on eggs (no matter how they are prepared).

Hair loss!
I've heard it explained that we lose our hair because of the anesthesia used during surgery. Because we can't drink lots and lots to help remove it from our systems, we shed hair. The good news is - it really does stop and it grows back. Just when I was starting to really get freaked out - it stopped :cursing:

Sex???
As I lose more weight, I can feel the port a bit during sex. Sometimes, it's uncomfortable...uh...pushing against it. But that just gives us an excuse to adjust positions. Really, it's not a big deal at all.

Fleeting...but I was in onderland first thing this morning!!!
Way to Go!!! Even though those non-scale victories are good - seeing that under 200 on the scale is so satisfying.

Recently Banded
Try a heating pad on your upper back for the non-intestinal gas pains. It helped me so much.

Tricare bandsters? Help!!
I don't have the same insurance, but my psych evaluation was not a covered expense - but the expense was only something like $100 - 125.

Questions about pre-surgery diet
Losing weight prior to surgery is to shrink the liver enough to facilitate placement of the band. Most doctors seem to require at least some weight loss before surgery, but you should call and find out what your requirements are. Since this has happened so quickly for you, you might want to spend lots of time here asking questions and reading up. Good luck to you!

Approved!!!! Hooray!
Glad you got approved!

On my way to the hospital.
Wooo :cursing: Hope it all goes well!

Just found out Insurance denied my request
It really sounds like they denied it because there's no letter on file from your doc saying that the surgery is a medical necessity. I'm sure you'll have good news soon...and if the news isn't wonderful, there are appeals processes. Let us know.

IBUPROFEN????? Guys - may be TMI
I went to the surgeon's office today and asked (again) about Advil. The nurse made a face and said I shouldn't. I pushed, "What do other people do about cramps?" She sorta wiggled around answering. I asked about taking the liquid instead of the tablets. She said those would be better, but it's more a systemic concern rather than the actual tablet sitting in the pouch (though that is a big concern). So, I asked again what other people do. She said people weigh the risks and benefits and then make their own decisions. So...she wasn't encouraging ibuprofen, but she also wasn't saying, "OMG, DON'T!!!"

There is no turning back now.
Good luck to both of you!!

Fill under x-ray
I'm always numbed before my fills - never any discomfort from them. They do an ultrasound before the fill, mark the location and a minute or so later, I'm on my way.
