    November Bypassers!!

Hello All - I’ve been trying to keep up with all of the posts; so forgive me if I have missed this topic already! I had my surgery on 11/5 and am in the final week of the purée portion. I am so sick of broth and liquids and am so ready to eat real food again. I have been eating some mashed potatoes and soft scrambled eggs (which is allowed). I have done well with them, but have also grown tired of them. Does anyone have suggestions, hints, etc. on how to get through the next week? Thanks ahead of time!!
  3. Hello All - I had a RnY performed on 11/05. The first week home I lost 10 pounds - however; the last two days I’ve actually gained about 3 pounds. I’m still on liquids - and am shocked at the gain. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks!
  4. I just kept doing what I was supposed to and after a week, it just broke....
  5. I’ve finally come out of the stall and started back down..! I’ve been cleared for cardio as well and hope that’ll help keep it going!! Good luck @ScorpioC_RnY
  6. Good way of looking at it, Matt! Thanks!!

    November Bypassers!!

Hi All - my surgery is Monday, November 5th. I have been so hyped About this since starting - but the closer to surgery date I get, the more nervous I get! The 3 week pre-op diet has been ok - not to bad, so I’m hoping the rest will go ok! Good luck to all the November bypassers!! Anyone recently post-op that wants to share how it went!
  10. So, surgery is scheduled for Nov. 5th and I am super excited. I’ve been nowhere near as nervous as I thought I would be - however, I’ve had a rough first day of the Pre-Op Diet. I’ve eaten and drunk exactly what I was supposed to, but have felt hungry all day. At first, I thought it was mostly mental, but as the day has gone on - my stomach has been pretty noisy. Does this get any better. I hope it does. Can anyone who is or has been on the diet share your experience? Thank you!
  11. Hello All - I just received my surgery date Thursday - set for November 5th. I am truly excited and looking forward to it. Up until this week, I had been planning to have the VSG; however, after reviewing all of the test/lab results - my doctor suggested the RNY. It appears that it will help me lose more weight - which I am at 360 now - and get rid of the co-morbidities that I suffer from (high blood pressure and Type 2 Diabetes). I have research the VSG extensively, but now find myself having to switch what I know to the RNY. Does anyone have information that they would like to share - Do's and Don'ts - Suggestions - FYIs, etc. I would appreciate any and all assistance. Also, I was told by the nutritionist that I wouldn't be able to drink coffee or tea after the surgery. I was prepared to drink decaf coffee & tea - but didn't realize I would have to give it up fully. Is there anyone else who has had the RNY who still drinks decaf coffee and/or tea? Thanks to all.
  12. Thanks for the info. iattcom! I am hoping that I can handle the decaf coffee once all is said and done!
  13. Thanks jldoublee and Auroragirl4489...! Much appreciated!
  14. Mine too - and “Hot Tea” just isn’t the same for me! Good luck!!
  15. Great - thanks Ed! Good luck on your surgery!!
  16. Not sure if it is surgeon recommendation or a requirement. They told me that the coffee and tea contained tannins which can decrease absorption of iron - which is a concern - because the malabsorption already caused by the surgery. If you Dr. Says something different, please let me know!
  17. Starting this journey and finding this forum really have me motivated.  I can't wait until I get the process underway.  Looking forward to my consult.

    Trying again

kteminem - you’ve got this!! Like several on here, I wished I had started this process several years ago, but waited. Now I’m ready to get the extra weight off, so my knees, feet, etc will feel better and I can come off of the several medications I take! I am still pre-op and am scheduled for my first consult! I’ve been in several blogs and forums asking questions and reading all I can! Good luck and let us know how your initial visit goes Friday!!
  20. Hi All - After many years of battling my weight - I have decided to opt for a gastric sleeve surgery. It was suggested by a friend (who has also had a gastric sleeve) that I join this site to look over all the information available. You guys are so great and such an inspiration. I have my first consultation this coming Friday. I am so excited and scared at the same time. I won't have any issues with insurance coverage - that's not a concern. My major concern - that has me scared is the loose skin that will remain. I am 360 pounds - and pretty much all belly....so I believe I will have a huge hanging skin roll after my weight loss. Can any guys share their experience after weight loss....?? I have seen a few people state that insurance coverage would handle corrective surgery - but I know that changes by policy. Any of you that have lots of excess skin - do you have any issues with it? I know that I will be so much better off after the surgery and it will be great for my health. I am not sure why I am so concerned over the excess skin - but I am.
