  1. My doctor said it's a weird form of acid reflux. I am taking Omeprazole currently as needed. It is now only happening occasionally.
  2. Are you guys sick of me yet? Haha. So I noticed today that my throat is getting these very sharp tingling pains. Almost lile a fizzy feeling or like your stomach growled and it echoed in your throat. But it comes with a ton of pressure and feels like a bunch of little needles vibrating in your throat. Tried drinking, didn't help. Tried eating, didn't help. Got some activity in, nope. Has anyone had this? What is it? Does it go away or come in waves? Am I doing something wrong/should I be concerned? I am 6 weeks post-op. Thank you! ♡
  3. So I was told that natural butter was better to use than say....margarine. And I haven't had any issues so far. But I read to avoid it. Though I thought butter, real butter, was better to grease a pan for say, eggs, rather than processed stuff like in margarine. Thoughts?
  4. Hey there! I am 10 days post-op and I see my nurse and nutritionist on Tuesday to see if I can move on to soft solids. My question is, for those of you out of the starting phase, has anyone had an issue tolerating spicy food and snacks? I know sweets are an issue, even right now I don't like things that are too sweet. Takis are my alltime favorite snack, and I would be heartbroken if I could no longer have them. (That and sushi haha). Obviously it would be in moderation due to it being a tortilla, but as an occassional snack, is it ok? What about spicy food for meals? Anyone have any insight on if this negatively affected them or if you were ok with it in small quantities? I an also curious about breaded (not deep fried) but breaded things such as chicken parmesan, is that still too much bread? Thank you!! ♡

    Takis/Spicy Food

Of course! I don't think I could even do more than a couple anyways. But a treat would be nice once in a while! If my stomach says no, at least I tried and then I will know to avoid it!
  6. Has anyone tried the Skinny Girl products? Besides the name choice, I love them. I love the raspberry vinaigrette salad dressing and the sea salt and lime popcorn! Anyone try them, or have suggestions for other things I haven't tried yet?
  7. What are some good bariatric veggie dips?

    Dip Alternatives

Ahhh yes. Hummus is addicting haha! I also love mild guacamole....mmmm and we found superlow cal low sugar crab dip too! I am definitely going to try that greek yogurt/ranch dip idea! Thank you!
  9. Hey! As much as I love water, it gets boring. What are some sweeter beverages that are good for you after VSG? I can't seem to handle tea due to needing to add sugar, and I am not sure if juice of any kind is allowed. Have you guys had success with anything? For parties and such?

    Sweet Drinks?

Either Splenda or the unsweetened tea I got from Dunkin made me sick. After added Splenda. I will look for those. Thank you!
  14. Hey there! I was sleeved on May 8th, so about 6 weeks out. I am in the Stage 4 diet process for Soft Solids. At 8 weeks I start Stage 5 which is the "forever diet". Is it too early to try raw sashimi sushi? Like salmon? My favorites to order are salmon, shrimp, and octopus. Is that ok? Also, what about a tiny bit of soy sauce? Or stay away cuz of the sodium? We have gluten free low sodium at home I can use too. Thoughts or experiences with this? I would as my nutritionist but they are closed. Thank you!
  15. Had some last night! It was sooo good. No issues. I had 4 slices of shrimp sashimi and 4 slices of salmon nigiri with my gluten free low sodium soy sauce! Took about 1.5-2 hours to finish it but I did it! No pain at all just might have had a TIIIINY bit too much on the first day trying it post-op. Felt awesome having it again. Thanks again guys!
  16. Thank you guys so much!! If I do have regular sushi at some point with rice, should I always avoid white rice and get brown instead? I read in some other threads that white rice has given multiple people a lot of trouble.
  17. They have not mentioned sushi at all and I can't call til Monday. I just don't wanna mess up. :/

    Becoming My 2.0

Sooooo I made a decision to start a blog about not just my VSG surgery, but mental health and the experiences that have shaped who I am today. I would really appreciate all the love and support I could get on this project, as this is a very big step for me! I am very anxious by nature but I wanted to do this if I could help even just one person. If you would like to visit and subscribe to my blog, I just started it today. Here is the link: https://becomingmy2point0.wixsite.com/blog Thanks in advance. ♡♡ I can't wait to see where this journey goes!
  19. So I weighed in a couple days ago at 285, then yesterday at 274. Weighed in today, 280. Is this normal to fluctuate like that? Does it go back down again? The scale we bought is digital but supposed to be, and seems to be, very accurate as long as you stand on the right spot. There is no way I gained 6 pounds overnight, I am still on a strict diet and eating very healthy PLUS working out. I stopped working out over the weekend though because I was in a ton of pain. But I took mini breaks before and never gained. I don't know how to feel right now.
  20. Yeah the scale is just super touchy. And as far as water goes it's more that I can't drink too much at once or it hurts. So it's a struggle. :/ I can usually take in about 2 big gulps without issue. But then life gets busy and I can't drink every 10 minutes so I get all turned around. Haha

    Becoming My 2.0

    Yay! Thank you! ♡♡
  22. I am currently only able to drink 35-40 ounces a day. I am working up to 64 as much as possible. I did talk to a nurse who said it was probably a faulty scale, so we are gonna get a different one. I would track body fat but idk how at home. My trainer has me do it at the gym every few weeks however. So I have not seen it this month yet. Thank you!

    Takis/Spicy Food

    That's awesome!
  24. My doctor said to not eat/drink at least one hour before bedtime in order to lessen any possibility of having reflux. My reflux used to be horrible but it's very minimal now. My issue is I get really parched at night and like to have water next to me to drink before bed or if I wake up in the middle of the night thirsty. I don't want to feel so thirsty all night, but I also don't want reflux poking me while I sleep. Will this go away over time? Will I be able to have some sips of water throughout the night without having to sit up and wait an hour to go back to sleep? I do try and get as much water in as possible before I start getting ready for bed, but since childhood I always had water next to my bed in case I got thirsty. I am 4 weeks post-op. Thanks guys. ♡
