I buy the big bag of Protein powder at costco. I buy the vanilla (there is also chocolate) and to that I add, half a banana, about 7 ice cubes, a handful of blueberries and 8 oz. skim milk. Blend well! I really enjoy it and have it every morning. It has 27 grams of protein for the 2 scoops. Hope that helps!

No kidding, walking helps tremendously. My shoulder pain from the gas left after about 5 days. It wasn't terrible, but certainly not normal feeling. You'll be on 'mushies' before you know it and then you're well on your way to a wonderful new life as a thin person! I am on week 4 now and feel terrific! Megret

Hello Metal Tigress, I too was banded in Tijauna by Dr. Haucuz and was thrilled with him. I'm 54 and, like so many, have struggled with my weight since I was 10 or 11 years old. Enough is enough! You'll get over this hump. I haven't had a fill yet but have one scheduled at my 6 week mark! Megret

Hello and Welcome!! I was banded on the 6th of February in Mexico and doing great! It will be fun to have a gal from England to chat with. I attended a Riding School in Somerset back in 1971 and worked in Gloucestershire too! I love England!! Sorry to hear you had to have a hernia replaced as well, but I bet you'll be surprised at how fast you heal. I am 54 and like you, decided it was high time to begin living my life as a slim woman. I am sooooo excited about my band. I had researched the band for over a year so I felt very comfortable with going to Mexico for my band. Not to mention the cost difference was significant. Between my weeklong pre surgery diet until now I have lost just over 22 lbs. So needless to say I feel great! Don't get me wrong, I have a long way to go, but at least now I have the tool to help get me there!! Hopefully we can keep in touch! Meg

Hey Skinnyrebel! I was banded on the 6th of February! Is that close enough??? I ended up going to Mexico even though on Jan 2 my insurance covered the band, it's just that you had to have a years worth of suppervised diet. My 10 months of LA Weight Loss wasn't good enough for them. I am feeling great! Just a bit "tight" where my incisions are but other than that, all my gas is gone, I haven't felt hungry and I just finished cleaning the house with the help of my wonderful hubby. I felt I was needing protein this morning so I have some chewable vitamins and I broke them apart and just chewed little peices and now I feel full of energy! I've lost 16 pounds already too!!!!:clap2: I am looking forward to the journey and can't wait to get to my goal! Megret

Hi Ohiobluegal, I just got banded a week ago in Mexico. I have been doing research for over a year now so I do feel like I know something about the band. I, too, have read post after post about people not loosing weight and I really just have to keep telling myself and shout it out to everyone else that this is in fact a TOOL TO HELP YOU LOOSE WEIGHT!!! The Band is not a magic potion! I just read a post somewhere where the gal had her band for a year now and had only lost 15 lbs. Plus she said that she was eating all the wrong things, very high carb, etc., etc.,. :rose: :rose: Well.....good grief. And she wonders why she isn't loosing?!? Not very difficult to figure out. I am so excited about my band. I have been loosing/gaining for my entire life and I am 54 now. I can't wait to be one of those folks that has gotten to my goal and the only complaint I have is: "I wish I had gotten my band years ago!!" :clap2: :clap2: I hope this helps. Hi Audrey, I have Regence Blue Shield and they just changed their policy on Jan. 2 to include LapBand, BUT you have to have one year suppervised diet. That's what got me! Regence Blueshield just added LapBand to their list of coverages, but they require an entire 12 months of supervised weight loss. Geez. Too long for me. I had 10 months with LA Weight Loss, let's see what they do with that? :heh:

Just wanted to let you know that Regence has changed their policy regarding the lap band. Seems they will cover it as long as you meet their criteria! It's about time! Yahoo! :clap2:

Sorry you had to put up with that friggin' "man" but I think Bullwinkle had the best comeback! :clap2: I have often said I would love to have a "rammer" car. Would have come in very handy in that situation. Don't let him get to you. He's obviously not even worth it. What an unhappy ol' "man" he must be.

After reading this guys article I find him to be an amazingly ignorant, unfeeling "human being". I especially got a kick out of his lengthy dissertation about McDonalds omitting the Super size. How friggin' stupid can a person be than to have nothing more to write about than that? Stay home and cook a meal asshole. And as another person said, maybe you should do some research before you go spouting off at the mouth. WIC, not only is for women and children, but with WiC they are required to get only healthy food. As I sold in Farmer's Markets this summer, WIC coupons were only good for fresh veggies. Stick that up your skinny little ass. Get a life jerk. Hopefully when you croak, you'll go to a hell where there are only overweight people. And let me tell you, 99% of them are a helluva lot nicer than you.

Hey Suz, You may want to check out Obeisity Law.com. The lawyers name is Walter Lindstrom and so far I have had very good luck with him. He is helpful, funny and reasonable. He just sent in my first appeal to Regence Blue Shield, so keep your fingers crossed. Walter also told me that Medicare now covers the Lap Band. Megret
