  1. Okay, so let me jump on this band wagon......I suck at this! I had been doing okay. Then Christmas came, and I gained 2 lbs. Since then, I haven't been able to loose ANY weight. I go to the gym at least 2 times a week, sometimes 3. But, I do not eat what I am supposed to. I get my protein in everyday, but I also eat things I shouldn't! I was doing better when I visited this site everyday, but lately I feel like I've just completely fallen off! I need your help and encouragement. I'm embarrased that I haven't lost anymore weight than 25 lbs. in 6 months! I am self pay, so I cannot fail at this......
  2. Hey Jenny... I too am a bit dissapointed in myself. I was banded on July 22nd and have not lost as much as I had hoped. I do excercise 2 times a week, sometimes 3. But I can eat anything except chicken (it seems to be too dry). I think I eat too much, but my doc is happy with my progress. I've had 2 fills, but I'd swear I need another one. It just seems like I'm eating way too much, although I'm actually eating 1/2 of what I would have pre-band! I am down from a 20 to a 16 in most clothes. But it just seems like I should have lost more weight:sad: I do feel your pain, especially since I was SELF PAY! Hope it works out better for you....I figure it will only get better from here! Good Luck!! You can do it!!!!!
  3. Hey guys....I am not very happy about my weight loss so far. I had my surgery on the 22nd of July. Now I am down from an 18/20 pants to a 16 (in most jeans). So I know that I'm losing, but its just so slow. I went to the Dr. yesterday thinking I needed a fill b/c my scales say I haven't lost any weight since the beginning of November, but when they weighed my I had lost 3.5 lbs. But.....I'm still discouraged when I see how much all of you have lost. Of course when they saw that I had lost weight they wouldn't give me a fill so I was a little dissapointed. I know I should make heathier choices....but I can go 5 hrs. before eating again. Does the pouch diet really work? Any suggestions?

  6. Okay, I am 4 months post op......how much am I supposed to be eating???? I can go 4 or 5 hours without getting hungry (so thats great!) but when I do eat....for example this a.m. I had 2 scrambled eggs, one of those round sausage patties, and a piece of toast. Should I be eating all of this? Someone please tell me what you are eating..........give me some examples:smile2: Thanks to all!~~
  7. Thank you so much kizzie. I am a worrier, and have worried about everything since day one. LIke I said, I've had no pain or anything. Just feels weird and different. So it could just be that I'm psychotic :-) I hope so. Because I was self pay, I'm not sure what I'd do if I had to have another surgery.
  8. Okay, so I'm kind of freaking out a little. My port is right where yours is, right below where my bra hits. Anyway, I've never had any problems whatsoever with it, but this morning I woke up and like I usually do, I felt of it (just paranoid I guess??) and it feels like it is sticking up more than normal. It doesn't hurt or anything, but it kind of freaks me out. Do you think its flipped? I just had my 2nd fill on Oct.30th and it was fine. Help??
  9. THanks skinnymike.....we are definately disneyholics! This will be our 3rd time to go in 3 years! Have a great trip yourself! I can't wait to see it at Christmas :-)
  10. Okay, for those of you whose ports are right under your bra line..do you know if anyone has ever had their's flip there? Or did your Dr. say that it is not common for it to flip when its placed there? The reason I'm asking is because last night when I was laying in bed, mine felt different. This morning it feels more normal,,,,,, but would I know if it flipped being right in the middle of my chest???? I'm such a worrier.
  11. Hey Music! I am in Pineville :-) Who is Dr. Merriman? WOW...70 lbs. is awesome!!!!! COngrats!
  12. Thank you so much Judy! You too, and when you get a chance after you get back, drop me a line and let me know how it was :-) Thank you so much!!!!
  13. Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you who are "newly" banded have flown on a plane yet? I was banded on July 22nd, and my family and I are going to Disneyworld next month, so I just wondered how it affected you on a plane?
  14. That is so funny! He did mine too :-) Email me at Jaceecamille@bellsouth.net so we can chat about it. Finally, maybe I've found someone I can chat with. YAY!
  15. Hi! I am from Pineville, and had my surgery in Lafayette, self pay as well. I am 29, and had the lap band done on July 22nd. My daughter is 4 as well. Good luck with everything! :smile2:
  16. Okay... stupid question.... can you stretch your band out even before you get a fill? Someone asked me, and I have no idea, I would think you could, but not sure?? And if you did, would it help then to get a fill? I am new to being banded and so is my friend... its just a little nerve racking all these questions we have:confused_smile:
  17. My port is right in the ceter below my bra line, in fact I have to position my bra so that it doesn't rest on the port b/c that feels kinda wierd. QUESTION.. does it hurt when you get your fills if your port is there???????? I go for my first fill on 9/4 and I'm already nervous that it will hurt. H~E~L~P:huh2:
  18. Oh my goodness!!! I feel the same way as most of you do. I was banded on the 22nd of July and have only lost about 10lbs. Now the hunger is back, and boy do I mean back!!! I went to my doc today for my post op check and he says I'm doing fine, although I have told him that I can eat too much. He says it will be better when I get filled... I just hope I don't gain 10 lbs before that!!!!!!! I need some therapy for food. Do they make that?:cool2:
  19. Hey girly..... I was scared to death before my surgery... I even thought about canceling it at the last minute! I assure you it was not bad AT ALL. Here's how it went for me..... I got there, checked in, they took me back, made me change into that BEAUTIFUL hospital gown and the nurse came in. She put my IV in, had me sign some paper work, and then the anestiesiologist came and gave me some really happy drugs and I was out. Next thing I knew I woke up and the nurse gave me some ice chips because my throat was a little dry, but it didn't hurt. It was not bad at all. I had myself worked up over really nothing. You'll be a sore when you get home, but the pain meds will take care of that. You'll do fine:thumbup: GOOD LUCK!
  20. Thanks Daisy! I guess I just worry about stretching your band out? Can you do that before you even get a fill? How much do you eat to actually stretch your band? I eat about 2 cups. That's about half of what I ate before the band. Oh yeah, another concern of mine is my port placement. It is towards the bottom of the middle of my chest?!@# I can't even wear a regular bra yet because the bottom of the wire rests right on that port. It is very uncomfortable! Some say the swelling will go down and I will be able to wear a regular bra! I'm sure hoping so
  21. Okay.... I want to be in on this conversation too. I was just banded on the 22nd of July. So almost 2 wks. ago. I followed the liquid diet for a week prior to my surgery and lost about 2 lbs. (woohoo right??) ANyway, I did the liquid diet for a week after my surgery and then started onto mushy foods. When I found out that I could eat those fine, I have started trying new things like ham. meat, salad, even tried toast and it all went down fine (should it?). However, I can only eat half of what I used to could. BUT, I really don't think I should be able to eat even that much (they told me I should only be able to eat only app. 1 cup full, but I'm not sure if they meant after I had a fill, or just after surgery??). I haven't had a fill yet, and have lost a total of 10 lbs. I'm hoping when I get a fill it will restrict my eating more, because now I am able to eat what I would say is too much for someone who has a band around their stomach. I was a self pay patient, and this has got to work for me. I just feel like a failure before I really even get started:unsure: Any suggestions?
  22. WOW... what a hard decision! Make a list of pro's and con's. Surely you'll be able to come to some conclusion from there. :wink2: I'm sure if you decide to go ahead with the surgery, your college roomate will understand. Good luck!
  23. I wondered about this too. Are you able to eat a Lean Cuisine? Or some other type of frozen entree?
  24. Is anyone else's port right in the middle of their chest????? My surgeon put mine there and I can't even put on a bra!!!:confused2:
  25. Hey ya'll... I'm Shannon, from Louisiana.... I have my surgery at 11:45 tomorrow and am scared to death....yet very excited. Any words of advice? my myspace is www.myspace.com/jaceeandriggs make sure to let me know your a bandster too:ohmy:
