Incision questions
i have 5 scars, the one for the port is the largest. of the 5 scars, 3 are "bumpy". i asked my doctor if anything could be done and he said no, they were keloid scars. it's been 1 year since my surgery and they're still "bumpy".:crying:

Lost 56lbs & recently noticed port pain..
I am a few lbs pounds short of my goal weight. I recently started having port pain. I asked my doctor about it and he says its because when I had my surgery the port was sewn into the fat tissue, now with the weight loss there isn't so much fat for the port to hold on to. Has anyone else noticed this? It isn't a constant pain, just when I cough, sneeze or bend over for a while (tying shoes).

Insurance Question
Maddie, I had my surgery with Dr Stephan in Mesquite and it was great. His nurse Cindy is really easy to talk to and gives most of the info. I had my surgery 4/24.

After surgery check in for Avengers!
i was banded 4/24 and am up and around. my daughters prom was on Saturday (2 days post op) and i was able to go with her to get her make up done at the mall and also to get her hair done. i was pooped afterwards but i was glad to be able to get out. it's true, the more you walk the more the gas pain reduces. i'm a back sleeper but was able to roll on my side last night. i do have the stomach gurgling sounds and am quite hungry, i just keep drinking my liquids in small intervals. good luck to everyone out there.:huh2:

4/23!!
i had me surgery today at7:30am and made it home about 3. i feel really good compared to what i thought i would be. i've walked around the house and spent 10 min on the treadmill. i wanted to make sure i moved around because i'm told that's the answer to avoiding gas pain, i've been burping quite a bit.the only pain i've felt is my shoulder. i took a 1 hr nap and woke up feeling good. i too have some discomfort getting in/out of the car and bed. if its been almost 12 hrs since surgery and i haven't needed ANY pain med, my experience has been just fine!!:crying:

united health care
I agree with going with UHC. I tried getting approved 2years ago through BCBS and did not get approved. They wanted 5 yr history and 1 yr working with a nutritionist. UHC approved me within a week & I am now scheduled for surgery 4/24/....good luck
