Wow No liquids only, you are lucky. I prob couldn’t do the 2oz that often. I will have broth or baby food in the morning and just sip Gatorade until nighttime. I need to get on a food schedule because I haven’t been getting my protein like I should. It’s like if I get my protein my water intake is bad or none and if I get lots of water I can’t do protein. I can’t find a balance. My cpap is in auto and now it’s running on 6.5 which took me by surprise because it used to be on 9.5 and when I took a nap earlier in the living room everyone said I didn’t snore. I’m excited about that. Did you have the sleeve or bypass? Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

I feel the same way.. I thought pain and serious discomfort will linger for a while but it’s like after the 2nd 3rd day you really feel better and better and better everyday. I didn’t experience any gas or incision soreness except for my muscle under my breast bone and even that only lasted like 2 days. Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

Procare Health: 1 per day
I purchased all of them through amazon. My Heme Proferrin iron is $64 My bariatric multivitamin $20 My sublingual vitamin B12 $15 My chewy barimelt calcium $22 May seem like a lot but is nothing compared to how much I used to spend on food and even less considering it’s to keep me healthy.. I’m ok with the tradeoff. Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

Procare Health: 1 per day
? that happened to me with bariatric advantage and I gave them to my mom. My mom is a health nut and she doesn’t mind that they are bariatric. I did buy the one a day capsule and now I just empty it into a spoon or a sippy cup with protein and they aren’t nasty or taste much like anything so it’s really easy to drink. You should deff try them, I ordered mine on amazon Bc they could guarantee me 2 day shipping. Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

I’m still doing really small sippy cups. Takes 3 sips to finish one cup and when I’m feeling impatient I can do 2 sips. Water feels so weird in my pouch that I’m trying to avoid having to drink it altogether. Today suddenly my Gatorade didn’t taste so bad lol so I’ve been drinking the G2 low calorie (orange) and that has been nice sipping. It only has 35 cal and 8 carbs per bottle. I’m going to have those until I run out of the 6 bottles I have from the hosp and then I’ll try the flavored protein water.. I think that will really help me get both my protein and water intake up. Do you get the sensation of fullness like you did before after lots of sipping? I haven’t felt hunger or fullness only tightness or a little voice in my head that says maybe that’s enough. It drives me crazy not feeling that ok I’m done sensation. Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

3 weeks doing liquid diet is a pretty long time. I think I would get a full blown head hunger attack if I had to wait that long. I can’t wait to have eggs and cheese lol Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

Wow 4oz is pretty good. Last time I tried doing 4oz It was with my protein shake and I started to get tightness in my stomach. I can drink 4oz of soup though, maybe because it’s not as thick and dense. I actually felt weird about being able to drink 4oz though, I thought I would feel more restricted when I got to 2-3oz. Today I had beef baby food and it was so so good, It was everything I needed. I heated the little jar in the microwave and put a little salt in it and I was able to finish it in like 20min (jar says it’s 2.5oz). I haven’t felt this satisfied since before I started my preop diet. Something about having something i actually like and had flavor that felt so satisfying. I wasn’t supposed to go for it until tomorrow but I felt pretty confident that it wouldn’t harm my pouch. Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

Wow how are you getting all those liquids in? Are you setting an alarm? I tried the alarm thing and 20min was just not enough time for me. I’ve been slacking with my protein because during preop I drank all my fav flavors and now I’m stuck with chocolate. I’m expecting an order from amazon with caramel flavors sometime today, let’s see how my sipping goes then. Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

Staples or stitches
Neither.. I had 4 very small incisions which i originally thought were 3 because one was hiding inside my belly button. They are very small and I have glue to close them up. Tomorrow it’ll be 7 days for me and I can say that I’m almost completely healed. Incisions look great, no pain and there was NO drain tube required. Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

It’s interesting that you say you can’t have more than 2-4tbs. What exactly do you feel? I haven’t felt full at all. I stop eating when I feel tightness or just a feeling I can’t explain, like it doesn’t feel right to have more but I’ve never felt like.. whew I’m stuffed, can’t get another sip in. That scares me because I might over do it or I might just consume much less than my pouch can hold, making my water requirements even a long drag and protein than it should be. I haven’t had any problems with nausea or vomiting, even when I crush my pills and add it to my soppy cup with protein it goes down nicely no aftertaste. Tomorrow is day 7 for me and I can actually move to purée stage. I wonder if I can have avocado tuna and cheese or is that for a different stage and we require food that is more runny in consistency. I need to stop by my apt and get my paper work explaining all this, I’ve stayed over my mother’s house since surgery and I don’t want to leave [emoji23] You have lost a ton of weight. I wasn’t required to lose anything during my 6 months and all I really did was eat all the food I loved, I even gained 9lbs during the process [emoji87] for sure I thought during the preop diet I was going to lose a good 8-10lbs but I cheated too much and ate protein. How do you, personally, define a carb?
The nutritional label of anything carbohydrate such as bread, cereal, oatmeal you name it.. may come with 200% iron, calcium and all the vitamins in the world + 15 years more of life and it’s still a no for me! a few grams of this or that which may be excellent for our health is simply not worth it if it comes with 18 carbs or 15. Ideally I like to stay under 20 because that’s my magic number to remain in ketosis (I use test strips). Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

Lol I totally understand.. I’m hoping once we can move to purée stage and eat more savory flavorful stuff that actually feels heavy in our stomach and gives us satiety unlike these sips of liquids- we’ll feel much better and even mentally we’ll feel more satisfied. I ignore every thought for food that isn’t what I can have. Try to focus on reaching your water and protein intake. I’m really grateful for this chance and I’m so in love with my pouch and how it restricts me. Instead direct the frustration into things you like and can have in due time. For me, I can’t wait to be able to have avocado and cheese, think of the foods you can have and soon you’ll be able to incorporate it into your plan. Hope this helps. Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

Hi guys! Feels good to be on the other side lol. My May 14th date got pushed to Monday May 21st so I’m only 5 days post-op. If I tell y’all how great I feel you guys would believe I’m bragging lol. Zero gas, zero incision pain, no stomach ache most of my discomfort I felt the 1st 2 days and it wasn’t really pain but more like a tightness at the very top of my stomach like under my breast bone. The following 3 days after my gastric bypass I refused to put anything in my mouth not even medicine, I thought the tightness was coming directly from my pouch and I would visualize my pouch ready to bust at the slightest sip. Thurs and Friday after being home I felt better and I even started sipping my protein shake. By Friday I was able to finish a whole bottle of premier protein, it did take me all day but I got it down. Today I wasn’t able to get even 1/2 a bottle. I did get lots of water in today, water is my biggest issue because I really dislike how it feels as soon as it lands on my pouch. How much are you guys sipping and how long does it take you to finish it? Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

Did anyone have to do lovenox injections?
I got pills instead but I did get an option and I skipped on the shot, 30 days of sticking is way too much for me. Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

I’d love if everyone checked in here to share their updates, questions, milestones, meals, high and lows and everything in between. My surgery was May 21st and I’ll love to hear from everyone who had their procedure recently. I’m totally obsessing about how much is everyone else sipping [emoji28][emoji478] Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

After surgery pain levels
Honestly it varies a lot but I can tell you that going by how much some postops struggle I thought the pain was going to be much worse. Like Syntax said, the worse is waking up from anesthesia Bc you’ll be nauseous disoriented and in pain. My pain was more discomfort than pain. I felt lots of tightness under my breast bone and my pouch felt tight too. Came to find out it was just the muscle where they put in the liver instrument. As far as gas you may or may not be too bothered by it. In my case I truly believe my doctor didn’t blow me up with it or used very little because I’ve had no gas at all and my tummy feels like any other given day. In my experience everything went so well though so take everything I’m saying with a grain of salt. I know this isn’t the usual and people do suffer from lots of pain, nausea and incision soreness which hasn’t been my case. In another thread someone asked how this surgery compares to a C section and all the ladies said a C section is much worse, much painful and longer to recuperate from and women have them all the time lol so that should give you and idea. I think you’ll do fine and the pain won’t be anything you couldn’t tolerate, you’ll also be given pain meds but by day 3-4 you won’t even need it. Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

4 days post-op (bypass)
Im still struggling with water, it’s such a drag and I hate how heavy & hard it feels in my stomach. With my protein I want to be able to do 60 grams of protein but that’s just not realistic for me. Im thinking about adding a scoop of 30 grams of unflavored protein to my premier drink that way I can get 60 grams from one bottle lol.. I think I’m on to something here [emoji28] Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

Anyone go to the hospital alone?
I had my mom drop me off but I didn’t allow her to stay. She dropped me off in front and came back home to sleep. I told her I will text her once my surgery was over and I had my pain under control. That Monday she did just that and stopped by around 4pm and I noticed she was super stressed and worried so I asked her to leave and told her I didn’t want anymore visitors that I will text her when I was cleared to go home and she could pick me up. Any Surgery twins for May 21st ?
Yea, the biggest incision or the one that has been tugged the most with instruments is usually the most painful. For me it was the one under my breast bone, this puncture was used for the liver retractor and although it doesn’t hurt superficially the actual muscle underneath is pretty sore but everyday hurts less and less. 4 days post-op (bypass)
My surgeon tried to push the sleeve on me but I absolutely knew that it wasn’t the right procedure for me especially with the amount of weight I need to lose (a little over 150lbs) I just can’t take chances with my last resort, so I decided that if I’m going to do this I will go all out. You are very lucky to have a team of people that found your problem and didn’t try to blame you for the unsuccessful surgery. I hope everything works out for you and I’ll deff be stalking you around here and looking for your updates :-) Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

4 days post-op (bypass)
Sounds a lot like me, I was ecstatic and I still am. I’m just so happy and grateful for my little pouch. From my approval all the way to surgery and even right now as I heal I stayed away from people and social media. I just needed to organize myself and time to be in my head. I didn’t go out or do much of anything. Buying the things I needed pre and post op and getting myself together was all I focused on. I also did a lot of cleaning to have my place ready when I got back from the hospital. I don’t have much clothes to donate because I literally lived off 2 pair of jeans and a few “just my size” shirts with and without sleeves. I refused to be buying clothes for my size. Are you having a revision because of GERD or do you feel like the sleeve isn’t the right tool for you? Today my goal will be to drink more water ? Yo-Yo Girl from New York City

4 days post-op (bypass)
[emoji23] I know he really lost his mind trying to talk to me like I’m clueless and he’s some know it all with that long plagiarized copied and pasted comment. Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I’ll deff like to stay in touch with as many people who had their procedure during or around the same time as me. It’s great to compare milestones and get an idea where I should be or what I need to be working harder at. My surgery was on Monday and I didn’t eat for the 1st time until Thursday (yesterday). I had a premier protein bottle and that took me all day, I took a nip of a sugar free popsicle and had like 4oz drained chicken soup for dinner. It’s important for me to compare what i eat and how fast to others. I want to know if I’m doing ok or if I’m sipping too much. You’re on the liquid diet? are you nervous or feel like you already know what’s coming? Yo-Yo Girl from New York City
