  1. So..... My surgeon has decided he is moving out of state. I am post op 12 weeks. I haven't had any complications and have been doing great. He says I can get referred to another surgeon to continue my postoperative care but I am thinking on just want to go to my family doctor. She has been super supportive of my journey with bariatric surgery as her mother had RNY also. Would it be irresponsible of me to switch from a surgeon to my family doc? I can always be referred back out by her if down the road I hit some road blocks. Any advice?
  2. OMG YESSSSS! My hand is up and waving in the air like "pick me, pick me"! HAHA Sugar or ANYTHING sweet totally grosses me out! I guess that is a good thing but getting used to it did take a bit to get used to. And now trying to figure out what I like now and don't like took a lot of trial and error. A lot of people say don't you get tired of eating the same things. And in fact NO! When it tastes good and makes you feel good it doesn't get old. I crave it.
  3. I ended up on a steroid and two different antibiotics. I didn't notice any difference other than my arms and hands were tingly. Doc said it was from the steroid. Then a couple weeks later went on another two antibiotic's for a severe UTI. I didn't have any issue with those.
  4. Same. I think it depends on you. I can eat natural sugars with zero issues. I think I've only had one dumping episode and I think it was caused from peanut butter. Which I have been able to tolerate UNTIL NOW.
  5. I also had this issue and even almost 10 weeks out and I can NOT stomach any "artificial protein". After telling my surgeon this at my week post op apt he started having me make my own protein shakes. And till this day I eat my protein. I don't supplement at all and can get all of what I need in. Plus knowing what is going into my body really means a lot now. My taste buds totally changed after surgery. And that yucky taste in your mouth will go away as you start to eat real food again. I struggled with that too. The unflavored protein was the WORST! Look up my surgeon on YouTube , Dr. Matthew Weiner. He goes over the set point smoothies and you can get your protein in the natural way. They go down a lot easier and they aren't as heavy in your tummy.
  6. I had RNY and I also have this issue. But only when I throw up. If I notice something isn't settling in my tummy very well and I go to throw up I notice it is very thick.
  7. I also have a desk job and had RYN. I had my surgery on a Wednesday so I took obviously the rest of that week off and the following week. I didn't have any issues returning when I did. You may feel tired and still may be sore but not to the point it will interrupt your day.
  8. I think post-op this has become my new love language. I love cooking/baking for others. I am not tempted at all by it but I truly enjoy it! Much more than I ever did pre-op.
  9. I honestly started capsules as soon as I got home. My meds that I had to open and take did nothing but make me throw up. I went very slow with it and took one at a time obviously. But multi that was recommended by my surgeon is even larger than my capsules I take daily and I do just fine. Just depends on your pouch really.
  10. My program and surgeon suggested I make my own protein shakes. And since day 5 I have had zero artificial protein. My program calls it a set point smoothie but its just plain greek yogurt, spinach and add a fruit of your choice. I added strawberries and blue berries. Make it runny if your early out or still on liquids. If you youtube Dr. Matthew Weiner that is where you can learn about the set point smoothies and protein shakes.
  11. Went and bought some stuff called Climaxa I believe. Def worked on making me more sensitive which helped.
  12. I am trying but it is slowly getting worse. So I think not far down the road things will be changing.
  13. I feel like unless you've had the surgery someone will never know that positive energized feeling you have. And in trying to explain anything only makes it worse.
  14. Well 7 pm night before my surgery my fiancé pretty much told me to go F&&^% myself and I was selfish for doing it. And that I had to find a ride the next morning to surgery. Fast forward to now that I am loosing and feeling GREAT. He doesn't get it and is so negative and controlling. I am finally seeing changes in myself and he pulls the rug out from underneath me and I am left feeling worse than before surgery. And he is overweight and unhealthy. Doesn't care what he eats or drinks. HATES veggies. Eats out all the time. BUT yet he will go to the gym with me........ to control that situation I am sure. Just UGH at the point and very stressed out. I hope I don't put myself in an plateau due to stress.
  15. Curious as to how many are here DUE to breakups/divorces due to their surgery process. Very difficult now being with overweight partner who isn't on the same journey and doesn't understand.
  16. I am due for my first round of labs soon and I am going to request that be done.
  17. Yes I should have elaborated. I have been having issues for about a year I would say. I take Gabapentin (Neurontin) for chronic nerve pain in my leg and ankle due to injury. I can not function without it. Pain is beyond debilitating. I also had a hysterectomy very young. I was 25. So that may play a factor. Post surgery my mood is great I feel amazing I just am not in the mood...... Don't want to say I dried up like a old lady because when we are having intercourse I can eventually get wet. But its a challenge. I have found some of the prescriptions out there for this have just "dumb" side effects. Like some say they use them for sleeping pills.... I mean that totally defeats the purpose. There are some supplements out there at GNC and even the adult store that I mean I wouldn't mind trying BUT being post surgery I really need and want to watch what I put in my body.
  18. Any women out there suffering with low libido? What are you taking to help if anything? NEED ANSWERS.....
  19. Were you cleared to eat beef? I am not UNLESS its grass fed. Cuts of beef are very restricted from my program. Which is fine I am doing great with NO animal protein and feel amazing!!!!!!!!!
  20. See I can do the yogurt and just make some smoothies and eat beans all day everyday. But CANNOT do pro-prebiotic. They reek havoc in my belly. Before and after surgery I tried them but my surgeon said NO.
  21. I think my biggest thing is how effective they will be... And more of a woman concern is with taking antibiotics normally if you don't also eat some yogurt or do a probiotics you can also get a yeast infection. Don't want a compound issues just to get rid of a cough and get my voice back.
  22. I am hoping mine will be fine as well. At first I was concerned because I couldn't take my vitamins. But now that I he switched me to capsules I am doing much better. Just anxious about it because I want to know how they look.
  23. How far out post op were you before you did your first set of labs? Any one get totally shocked by the results?
  24. How did your tummy and body respond to antibiotics after surgery? I have had a horrible cold that I am afraid has now turned into something worse. So later today I will be going to my primary and I will more than likely need antibiotics. Any suggestions of what has worked and what hasn't?
