  1. Congratulations! Your date is right around the corner. Wishing you the best!
  2. I am only feeling discomfort with large gulps of cold water. Your drink in the middle of the night is room temperature, so that's probably why it is not uncomfortable. That has been my experience so far.
  3. I feel your pain, but really it got easier as time got closer. Once you get those carbs out of your system you will feel more satisfied. Are you able to substitute one shake for a protein bar? That helped me.
  4. I have felt pretty great this week. As far as hunger goes, some days very hungry in my head. Other days, 3PM rolls around and I remember I better get a shake in. Down 12 pounds since 3/9. Weight loss kind of stalled for a few days but have a feeling its due to constipation:(
  5. I started scratching at mine a week after. By my 2 week follow up, I had completely removed any trace. My surgeon said my incisions had healed beautifully. So I would guess your clear to start peeling away at a week. But only remove what comes easy. I scissored the flap of tape close to the skin when it stopped peeling up easily , then waited to start anew when the edges loosened again.
  6. It's a big decision and one many of have struggled with for years before we get here. Giving up what may be our only real coping mechanism can feel like finally cutting ties with a friend or a lover who may never have meant you any harm but certainly didn't mean you any good either. Its hard, it takes commitment, but you come out the other side stronger for it. You are the only one who knows when you've had enough, and that's when you're ready. It's OK not to be ready yet.
  7. I put some of the unflavored into cream of tomato soup and it gave it a ricotta type flavor that I found delicious! I have been struggling with getting in the protein, but was pleasantly surprised by this combination.
  8. Vitamins are messing with me, too. My nurse said if I need to, wait on the vitamins until my stomach has more time to heal and make sure I am getting the fluids and 2 protein shakes in. Right now, its the fluid and protein that's most important.
  9. I am sorry to hear this. I hope you are feeling better soon. I know its a struggle to get in the fluids but we must! Maybe you should try putting yourself on a timer every 15-20 minutes and then have an ounce or two of liquids. I think Apple203 was having success with that.
  10. I gained 9 lbs from the surgery, but quickly lost it once I came home. I have been loosing approximately 1 lb a day since the surgery. I had my post op yesterday and I am down a total of 24 lbs. I am happy with my progress and working at tracking all my fluid/protein intake in the Baritastic AP. Overall I am feeling really good, but I get tired super easy. Just keeping the house clean, laundry, and walking my dog or playing him and I'm exhausted! It's good to hear everyone's progress and feel like we are in this together!
  11. Congratulations! You are outstanding! Keep up the great work!
  12. You look amazing! Keep up the great work!
  13. I get chest pain, also, when full and if I take a bigger swallow of water than I should.
  14. I wish my doctor had given/suggested this abdominal binder belt to me. I really could have used it the first week and a half when my guts felt loose and my stomach felt like it was falling on the floor every time I bent over. My husband even tried wrapping me in an ace bandage. I ordered a binder and it just came today, but I really wish I had it from the start. Thanks for the info.
  15. Somehow almost everything tastes different to me now. The protein shakes that I used to like I have to force myself to drink. Propel, Crystal Light, and My sugar free half iced tea half lemon aide don't taste like they used to. And protein water, forget about it, I feel like it's leaving chunky deposits on the back of my tongue.
  16. My heart is breaking for you. Take the time to take care of yourself. It is ok to be a little selfish right now. You are in my prayers.
  17. I had both done on March 9. The last 3 days, I have had really intense/painful stomach spasms. I mean I felt like there was a squirrel or gerbil that they put in my stomach that was trying to jump out. The nurse said I was probably producing excess stomach acid still and my sensitive new stomach was reacting to it. She has told me to take my Prilosec(Omeprazole) 40mg capsules. I am finally feeling pretty good today, day 6 after surgery. Don't know if it is time or the meds. I certainly wasn't experiencing any burning that I would associate with the acid. But odds are if you have a hiatal hernia, you are on this type of medicine. I would not recommend stopping it after surgery as I did.
  18. Thanks for the reminding me about the Baritastic app, I remember hearing about it in the support group I attended at the Center for Obesity. I am definitely gonna try it, because I am doing a terrible job of tracking my fluid intake. I think I am getting enough but I am never finishing anything and I've got water bottles, protein water bottles, and protein shakes that I intend to finish at varying levels of fullness leftover in the fridge.
  19. I am worried about that, too. After my hysterectomy, I didn't go for 12 days and that was miserable and then my husband gave me extra strength ex-lax on top of an impacted bowel. A lot of cramps and no movement, I thought I was going to die from some sort of internal explosion If I run into any trouble I will go straight for the Milk of Magnesia.
  20. Glad you are starting to feel to better.
  21. Thank you. And don't worry it seems like its taking forever and then all the sudden its here! Blessings to you.
  22. I am appreciative of everyone sharing their recent post surgery experiences. I feel more prepared for tomorrow. Thanks for the candid details. I am suffering from allergies right now due to the 9.9 pollen levels here in Florida and feel pretty crappy. With the wild temperature swings I am scared I will end up sick and they will make me delay. And yes, I feel like I am having a pity party
  23. I have been on my liver shrinking diet of 4 protein shakes and on lean cuisine type meal for 8 days, and have lost 10 lbs...but I am hungry! I had my final pre-op appointment today for surgery on the 9th. I'm nervous and excited, too. And so grateful to come here and see I'm not alone.
  24. I am taking 4 weeks off, luckily I am in a position to have paid leave.
