  1. I agree with Jack, when your life changes so will your friends. I would have a serious discussion with her about her self image though.
  2. aidamone I am in the same situation you are. 100 lbs over weight with border line health issues. Normal BP but at the high end, getting high surgar etc... I did mention it to my PCP, he said if this what I want to do. With my insurance I do not have to have a referral.
  3. Congrats Fanny. On top of starting the required 6 month wieght loss I am going to try and quit the cigs. Say a prayer for my DH
  4. My moment of decision came when I really looked at myself in the mirror for the first time in about a year. I stood there and though who is this person. In my clothes I do not look 100 lbs overweight, but when I take them off, oh my, oh my. This is the main reason I do not look at myself in the mirror.
  5. I was a small child until the age of nine. I remember during the summer eating my lunch and then going to the neighbors house and eating again, until mom caught me. When I started 9th grade I was over weight and picked on all the time. That is when I found speed. I lost all the weight but picked up a very very bad habit. When it comes to food that tastes very good to me, it is like a switch, I cannot turn off until I have made myself sick by eating to much. When I married my DH became the cook. Carbs lots of Carbs. After letting myself get to this weight that I am right now I knew I had to take control back.
  6. As a child I always had issues with constipation and I was forced to drink prune juice (BIG YUCK). If I run into an issue as an adult I use apple juice. I also found that cashews or almonds work very well also.
  7. Chris, My insurance does cover and I will need to go through the 6 month diet. I am just very impatient (sp?). Thank you, My email is aatherton3@gmail.com
  8. I am thinking about taking a loan from my 401k instead of waiting so long and possibly not getting approved by my insurance company. It is like I have the devil on one side saying do it and the angel on the other side saying wait; good things come to those that wait. I just don't know. Should I also talk to my surgeon about this and find out what the total cost will be.
  9. When I visted my mother in Feb. she said that I need to do something about my weight (admitted yo-yo dieter). So when I called her and said I am taking the first step for a better life I get the lecture about are you sure you want to go this route. Why don't you try to diet (remember yo-yo), sigh.
  10. I am so glad I have read this post. Have not started the 6 month, suppervised, weight loss yet. I am getting nervous just waiting for that.
  11. Live NW of you Amy in Wise county. Good luck with your surgery.
