    Lost about revision

So I originally had the sleeve in 2018 with a doctor by the name of Dr Steiner in a town about an hour from home. I did well for about 3 years, went from 305lb to 212lb. Not that Im making excuses, but I work in healthcare and COVID took a huge toll on me and my health. I was working long hours and without breaks so I began snacking on anything and everything whenever I could. Of course Ive gained quite a but of weight back as I am now back at 250lb. A new bariatric office opened about 30 minutes from me and I decided to go see them to see what I needed to do about the weight regain, along with the severe GERD that I have developed. The doctor was nice but he just couldn't get anything approved with my insurance. He also did an EGD on me which showed that I had H pylori and he never treated me for it. After that I decided to go back to my original surgeon an hour away from home because they were always so nice and helpful. So Im back with the original doctor now that did my sleeve. He says I definitely need a conversion from sleeve to bypass to help with the GERD and weight regain. It was a no brainer to them. So my advice would be, dont be afraid of getting a second opinion. BUT 9/10 times the original surgeon will know more and do more for you than a new one.
  2. Hello! Has anyone ever been able to get a conversion surgery approved on an insurance that has a "once per lifetime max" on bariatric surgery? I had the sleeve in 2018 and now suffer from severe GERD/acid reflux. No meds are taking care of it. The insurance has denied the claim once already because its not "medically necessary". Anyone know of tips or tricks?

    Help!

I had a VSG on 4/19/18. On the day of surgery I was 286. At my one week post op appt on 4/27 I was 268. Today 5/24/18 I’m only 259! I mean I’m glad I’ve lost as much weight as I have but I’ve been between 259-262 for like 3 weeks now!?!? I’m doing everything I’m supposed to be doing, not eating anything I’m not supposed to be eating. I’m so frustrated!! Did this happen to anyone else?

    Help!

I forgot to add my activity level. I am a medical assistant so I’m on my feet all day walking. Which I know work really shouldn’t count. I also do 1 hour of the insanity workout each night before bed.

    Help!

Well for breakfast a protein bar. 5g of carbs. For lunch I had about a half of a Atkins frozen meal (the total meal was only 5 carbs), and for supper I had some deli turkey rolled up with cheese inside. No snacks and I’ve had 1 protein shake on the way home from work. That’s about what my day to day meal plan consists of. I also get about 4-5 bottles of water in per day which are 20oz each.
  7. So I was sleeved on 4/19. Tomorrow I will be one week post op and everything is going pretty smooth so far, other than some discomfort when drinking too fast or too big of sips. My only issue is some swelling and soreness under my left breast on my stomach. My stomach sticks out a bit farther on that side which is weird. Is this normal? My first post op appointment is Friday but I’m kind of concerned...
  8. So I’m scheduled for a sleeve on Thursday 4/19/18. I’m wondering how the pain will be. I like to think I have a pretty high pain tolerance. So my question is, for you ladies that have had a c-section, which pain is worse post c-section or post-sleeve? Just so I can get an idea of what to expect. I had a c-section in March 2016 and got my wonderful twin baby girls out of it. Came home and got my rx of pain meds filled but never used them. So I’m curious about the sleeve surgery.

    Post op pain

That makes me feel a little better. I’ve been fine this whole time and now 3 days before I’m freaking out!

    Nausea

I am scheduled in March of this year to have my surgery. I’m stuck between the bypass and sleeve. I have metabolic syndrome with PCOS. 24 years old. My biggest problem is my fear of vomiting. I know it sounds strange but I have always had this fear. I keep Zofran handy at home and in my car and anytime I feel the least bit nauseous I take one. So my question is, with which surgery is the nausea the worst? I know it shouldn’t, but this will play a huge role in which surgery I end up choosing.
