  1. Ha! Finely shredded, unseasoned meat is the best way to describe it. It’s packed in gravy so it’s not too bad. I like the chicken and the turkey, the beef isn’t really doing it for me. I even eat it at room temperature. It’s Beech-Nut brand. Frankly, I think I’d prefer puréed meat to puréed anything else, beans or eggs.
  2. Sleeved on 12/20, down about 25 lbs since surgery.
  3. I also get very dizzy if I stand up quickly, and especially if I’ve been laying down with my feet elevated above my head. I had my first post-op appt today and my blood pressure was 108/56. I’m seeing my primary on Wednesday and I’m assuming my BP meds will be adjusted then.
  4. I was given something in my IV prior to leaving my pre-surgery room and then sedated once I was settled in in the OR.
  5. I’m also on puréed foods and currently starving after eating a can of baby food turkey about 2 hours ago. I think you should ask yourself if that would have filled you up pre-surgery, and if the answer is “hell no,” then you’re still ahead of the game.
  6. I tried FF string cheese a few hours ago and it went ok. I’m really hoping I can cobble together 30g of protein through other sources (eggs, cheese, baby food] so that I only have to drink one protein shake a day!
  7. Yep. Weird, isn't it? You may as well tell me I can eat a tablespoon of ketchup.
  8. I'll share the foods that are on my list of pureed and very soft foods, but some that spring to mind are: Nonfat yogurt (regular and Greek) Nonfat cream cheese (weird to think of just eating some cream cheese, but OK) I've also been eating unsweetened apple sauce and enjoying it, may try sprinkling some cinnamon on top. Also, I highly recommend this: https://www.amazon.com/Fresh-Start-Bariatric-Cookbook-Weight-Loss/dp/1623157730/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1515181665&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=bariatric+cookbook&psc=1
  9. My diet is 2 days of pureed and then 12 days of "very soft" foods before soft foods. Which means I can go to a restaurant and eat breakfast with my wife for the first time since the end of November. On my plan, you can have dry toast during the soft food phase, I'm gonna go HAM on a piece of toast on January 17.
  10. You can buy Flintstones chewables at a pharmacy and you can get the B12 and calcium citrate from Amazon Prime, no need to panic about getting those in time. Good luck!
  11. String cheese isn't on my list of pureed foods, but cream cheese is. Have you tried that?
  12. I've been weighing myself daily since I got home from the hospital (12/21) and I'm down almost 25 lbs so far. edit: My weight loss sped up once I started the full liquid diet, but now it's slowed to about half a pound a day.
  13. 12 days after 2 days of clear liquids
  14. Yes, and this was after halving the medication I take for my systolic right after surgery. Going to see my primary doctor on Wednesday. My home BP monitor said it was 127/72, but those things aren't particularly reliable.
  15. My surgeon and nutritionist allow 8 oz of coffee or tea a day. I'm holding out for as long as I can before I got back to caffeine.
  16. You can try nonfat yogurt if it's the smooth kind (no fruit on the bottom or pieces of fruit mixed in).
  17. I've been told I can take Flintstones chewables and plan to stick with those since they're fun to take.
  18. All I've heard is that I need to take them for life. I had to laugh when I read that I needed to consider the expense of vitamins before having the surgery - I was spending $60 a month on medications for weight-related health conditions (and that was with coupons from the manufacturers!), not to mention what I probably spend on CPAP supplies.
  19. 2 weeks out and I’m starving by lunch and dinner, and that’s while having 2 protein shakes a day, 2 cans of baby food meat, and 2 baby food fruits and veggies, AND with 64 oz of water a day and no caffeine. I have my follow up with the surgeon on Friday and I’ll bring it up then. Would be great to advance to soft foods early!
  20. I hate to break it to you, but the shakes don't go away completely after week 2. At least for me, anyway. I'll probably still be having 2 shakes a day until I've progressed to soft foods (the start of week 5), and I expect to have one a day after then for at least the last two weeks. The good news is, my wife got me this for Christmas, and there are some recipes for shakes and protein drinks in there. The coffee one is good, and all you're really adding is decaf coffee and cinnamon. https://www.amazon.com/Fresh-Start-Bariatric-Cookbook-Weight-Loss/dp/1623157730/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1515000880&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=bariatric+surgery+cookbook&psc=1
  21. Just at night, but yes. Also, my empty stomach is making some weird noises at night.
  22. I didn't have one until about a week after the surgery, but then my surgeon's office said I need to take a laxative if I go for more than two days without one. Since then I've been going every day just to get SOMETHING out, but I haven't gone yet today.
  23. My surgeon recommended two weeks, but ok’d 1 week off and 1 week of working from home.
  24. Hell, I’m excited about being able to eat cottage cheese starting Friday.
  25. I had a doughnut 10 days after surgery and immediately puked it back up. Just had to test the waters, I guess. Today (day 14) I had a quarter of a cupcake and kept it down. I’m tempted to eat poorly for dinner bc I’m starving, but the thought of puking up bad food is a strong deterrent for me.
