  1. I probably shouldn't post after I take an Ambien, sorry, all.
  2. I don't think so, no. Mine didn't.
  3. Nothing worked for me besides Prilosec. Generic omeprazole didn't work, Nexium didn't work, Prevacid didn't work. Prilosec was it.
  4. Strattera and Ambien, both work about the same post-surgery. I asked my psychiatrist pre-surgery whether I could continue taking both post-surgery.
  5. I had a dent, yes. I kinda still do. The incisions didn't hurt at all after a couple of weeks. The longest incision will hurt the longest.
  6. My insurance doesn't cover the visits to the dietitian, though maybe the post-op visits are covered by the cost of the surgery? They called the first time I went and told me, I said "just bill me," and I have yet to receive a bill.
  7. Are you getting your terms mixed up? I've been seeing a psychologist for talk therapy since the summer of 2015 and a psychiatrist has administered my meds for ADD and, later, insomnia. My psychologist was supportive of the surgery after I talked about why I was doing it at several sessions. The only reason I mentioned it to my psychiatrist was because I wanted to make sure there weren't any psych meds I was on that I couldn't take after surgery, or that would require dosage adjustments. The psych eval for surgery was completed by a licensed therapist with a practice that specialized in eating disorders and other food issues. I passed that exam easily, but I don't know if I was honest about my food addiction (or if I even knew how bad it was until after the surgery).
  8. I had GERD that was well-controlled with Prilosec for almost 15 years prior to (gastric sleeve) surgery. I'm still on the Prilosec now, but only because I'm afraid what might happen if I go off of it..
  9. I wish I’d asked how much better my penis would work after the surgery, because the answer would have been “MUCH better.”
  10. I’ve been using one for years, and actually use grams and milliliter because it’s more precise. Eyeballing is absolutely not the approach you should take -if you’ve ever done Weight Watchers, there’s a session where they test participants’ ability to eyeball a cup, or 4 ounces, or what have you.
  11. When my sirgeon’s office called about a week after surgery, I told them I was going once every few days and they said that was too infrequent. They trouble with going once a week is that you may end up with a blockage, and you DO NOT want a blockage.
  12. I haven’t tried boneless or bone-in wings since the surgery but I might this week. Mainly because it sounds like one order of 10 would be two or three meals for me. And yeah, pre-surgery I could’ve polished off 20 boneless wings and 4 breadsticks on a gym day.
  13. 32 pounds in the first month after surgery, I doubt I’ll ever top that.
  14. The cheese and cracker plate on American Airlines, washed down with some Bloody Mary mix.
  15. It’s drastic, and hindsight being 20/20, I would have chosen another way to lose the weight, but I was out of options at that point. Janumet was keeping my type II diabetes at bay and had been for the previous 3 years, but once that stopped working, I would have had to go on insulin. Also, we are having our first baby in July, and I’m already noticing it’s easier to babysit our 3-month old niece while being able to do things like stand up while holding her from a sitting position without having to hold on to anything (let alone trying to chase a toddler around all day when I was getting winded climbing two flights of stairs). Have you tried prescription weight loss medications? I had a lot of luck with Saxenda until it stopped suppressing my appetite. Your primary may be able to recommend an obesity specialist.
  16. My nutritionist is ok with chil, stew, and New England seafood chowder. The problem with other soups is that they’re too thin and/or the protein content is too low.
  17. Yes, it does. That being said, so is chicken noodle soup, and I still eat that too. I tried cereal with milk for the first time while traveling for work this week, Raisin Bran with skim milk. I ate my protein first and only had a few bites. I also have a still-unopened box of Rice Krispies I bought after surgery.
  18. It wasn't the amount of food I ate, it was the amount of food I wasted! I still lost 4 pounds while I was out there, all is well!
  19. My recommendation is that you order some as soon as it's appropriate for your post-op diet and eat some. You'll find that it doesn't taste as good as you remembered, or you won't be able to eat as much, or it won't agree with you...you'll find something to put you off of it.
  20. I don't remember being told I wouldn't be hungry, just that I'd be full with a lot less food. That has been the truth.
  21. We were in Arizona and I didn’t think to make dinner reservations, so we went to Waffle House. I had one-half of a cheese and eggs plate with sausage, hash browns and cinnamon raisin toast. I should’ve had a kids meal.
  22. I had it at 6.5 weeks, no issues, nor any issues with the King’s Hawaiian roll I put it on. The only meat I’m still having trouble with is fast-food hamburger patties.
  23. It gradually slows over time, that’s why I’m on gallstone medication for the first 3 months.
  24. I heard it for the first time in a while this week, and the individual who said it kinda gave me elevator eyes first, and THAT made me uncomfortable. But I'm walking faster and I'm not as tired as I used to be, so they might mean a little bit of that, too.
  25. I traveled to Phoenix this week on a business trip and the challenge was having high-protein, low-carb meals. My wife came with me and we did try Souper Salad for dinner one night, but all of the food there was inedible. Before that it was Black Angus for a kid's sirloin steak dinner, which I couldn't even finish.
