  1. Thanks and how are YOU doing one and a half weeks post-op?
  2. I’m thinking that we probably all overthink things - myself included. Pretty sure all you really need is your water and protein drinks that first week! From everyone I read or know, it’s pretty limited. Pain meds for a couple days, rest, drink and some walking. Comfortable clothing. Walking shoes. Right? Good luck!!
  3. I am June 4!! Gainesville FL.
  4. Got my surgery date! It is June 4!
  5. Thanks for the honest appraisal as well as the inspiration! So glad to hear you are doing so well. Hoping to get my surgery date very soon!
  6. How are you doing MIZ60??? Tomorrow's the big day? Did you survive the pre-op diet? Thinking of you!!
  7. Born in Columbus, grew up in Medina. Now living in Micanopy, just south of Gainesville. I am a Florida Gator because I work at UF....I supposed I'll have to start drinking the sugar free Gatorade pretty soon. I'm really a Texas Longhorn though - if we're talking teams and football and alma mater. I root for the Gators unless they play my Longhorns. Family are all Ohio Buckeyes.
  8. Oops, somehow my previous post was cut off. Newbie here, sorry. Enjoying the posts so far. Love the creative writing! Originally from Ohio, lived most of my adult life in Texas, now in Florida. I'm so glad to hear the pre-op liquid diet is going so well. I'm feeling nervous about that and hope I can be compliant. I know we are not supposed to have the 'last supper syndrome' but I'm enjoying all my favorites while I'm waiting on my surgery date.
  9. Love it! Join us! I was
  10. This is great! Very excited for you. I just got clearance from my program. Everything completed on my checklist. Now it goes to my insurance for approval and then I get my surgery date! Hoping for end of May!
  11. How bizarre. I’m a nurse too!
  12. Grew up in Houston. Went to UT Austin. Lived in Galveston. Lived in Tyler. Best friends in Grand Prairie, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. Married a man from Fort Worth. Woohoo!
  13. How wonderful to find new friends! Texas girl here, (Hook Em Horns) - but living in Florida now. MIZ60 - you and I have a lot in common! Ex-smoker here too - much of my weight came on from quitting smoking too. You’re a bit ahead of me. I’m waiting on my surgery date but hoping for end of May. Good luck on your upcoming day. So glad to hear the pre-op is going well. I’m nervous about that. Let us know how you’re doing!!
  14. Hi all, Woohoo! I have finished my extensive 'checklist' of tests and exams and classes required by my program, and now waiting on insurance approval and a surgery date for the gastric sleeve. I am hoping for late May 2018 surgery date. I'm 60 - so for me it's now or never. I have stayed motivated and obtained excellent education by listening to Reeger Cortell's podcasts (highly recommend) as well as reading peer-reviewed journal articles, going onto sites like this one, and others on Instagram. I love the before/after pictures - truly some amazing transformations! I'm nervous but ready for showtime! My highest weight is 272 pounds (5'7" height, wearing size 22/3X clothes. My goal is to do the best I can, treat the sleeve well, not overeat, stick to the rules, healthy diet choices, protein, hydration, vitamins, exercise and all that is required for maximum success - so that I am out of plus size clothes, exercising regularly (miracle right there). If weight is a goal, then ideally I'd like to get to at least 170. Would love to have some May or June buddies! xoxo
