YES!!!!! I was and still am an advocate for fat acceptance. I learned to love myself just the way I was... Until my bloodwork started coming back with struggling organs... I wasn't able to tie my shoes... I couldn't walk without pain...
Each of us has the right to choose what to do with our bodies. When we are fine and when we need help. It's not hypocritical at all. Self love is important at all shapes and sizes.

I am also an advocate for fat acceptance and plan to continue to be even after I lose weight. I think it is important for people of all sizes to advocate for fat acceptance. You are probably right that you'll take some flack from the fat acceptance community for getting WLS, but there's no reason you can't lose weight for your own health while still advocating for fat people to be treated right.

The only one who knows I will be having vsg/sleeve on 7/28 is my boyfriend. Too many people would try and talk me outta of it. I’m 220 5’3. I have high blood pressure and pre diabetic sleep apnea and cholesterol issues. I just want my health back

shrinkingviolette got a reaction from CapeFearNC in Sept. Surgery @ Blossom
Just got home from my trip/surgery @ Blossom. Short flight for me. On the way home, I recommend taking your anti nausea pill 1 hour before you board and a pain pill 30 minutes before you board. That worked perfectly for me, I was quite comfortable on the way home.
There is a Target a short Uber ride from the hotel. They have tons of varieties and flavors of protein drinks. Also a whole aisle of travel toiletries if you’d rather not pack those.
If you feel a little rough directly after surgery when you get back to your hotel room, don’t despair...5-6 hours after your surgery a nurse comes to the hotel to give you an IV of fluids, anti nausea medication, and pain medication. It works wonders on your comfort level within an hour.
Nice hotel with great staff but they only clean the room every 4 days....the trash cans are small and so people pile trash in the hall. Really a shame for such a nice place, but there’s no where to dump it yourself. Just request that they clean your room daily, and they will.

shrinkingviolette got a reaction from cana90 in Stomach pains
I had mine on July 13, and I also have some pain, even with tiny sips. That and lots of gas bubbles every time. I think it’s normal, but am hoping it doesn’t last too long.

At the time of sleeve gastrectomy, mean BMI was 43 and 78% of patients were female. They had a mean follow-up of 5.9 years. Overall, Peterli and colleagues found that the average excessive BMI lost after 1 year was 61.5%, and then 61.1% after 2 years. By 5 years, average excessive BMI lost was 57.4%, they reported.Jul 17, 2013

Here is my before shot and after shot. My one year mark is this Friday, March 7th. I have lost over 100 pounds. I was a size 22, now I'm down to a size 2,3. I feel great. I work out almost every day and I thank God every day for this surgery.
