  1. Ok !!!! Just hours away from check in.. please let me know how you are doing!!!
  2. Thank you... count down time.... tomorrow morning... I am allergic to a lot of meds and have had a lot of surgeries so a couple of years ago I wrote everything down on a paper and when they ask I just have them make a copy of the paper lol makes it much easier... well.... I’ll be writing again when I’m on the other side of things !!!
  3. Thank you for your updating posts. I go in day after tomorrow (by pass) not so worried about surgery as I am of what it will be like after. I have had plenty of surgeries before and know I tend to vomit from the anesthesia so asked the dr to make sure to put the anti nausea patch behind my ear, worked great for other surgeries. i like that you came back as a post op report from your pre op. I have also been having a lot of back pain from an injury last March and hope that doesn’t make things worse after surgery.. I have to go back to work the next week (no vacation time yet). How much have lost so far and in how long? Thanks!
  4. Thank you,,, I have retweaked my back so I’m not worried about the surgery but making sure my back is better before the surgery.. thank you for the positive thoughts! Did all my pre op stuff on Thursday,,, this is it and so glad I’ll be getting it done! Keep in touch!
  5. Katkatlady... I’d say they are jealous of what you are doing and are your sabotagers... I love the show but don’t get that channel anymore... I love seeing how they went through bad news but came out winners... don’t let those people keep you from being inspired...
  6. I wasn’t given an amount to lose but to just lose.. but I wanted to lose for myself. I’m not a breakfast person but for many years just have a cup of almond milk with my protein powder (it’s non dairy as I’m allergic to dairy) for lunch I take to work 1 daiya non dairy Greek yogurt and a side salad from jack in the box ( $2.50 where I live ~Hawaii) it comes with a dressing and I get the balsamic ) I would take raw almonds and have a handful for a snack at work. Dinner would be steamed veggies and some type of protein,,, if I wanted a snack after dinner then I’d have either another protein drink or yogurt... I have always drank a lot of water but I use the crystal light type powders and also hot herbal teas at work.. I live alone so don’t have that issue there but at work we do have people bringing sweets for us but I look and think to myself that it’s not worth it... now I’m never tempted at work.. good luck and know you can do this!!
  7. Are you allowed Isopure? Very sweet but I cut it with water. 40g protein per bottle.
  8. Kadidy,,,, I too was in the mist of major grieving when I started on my journey. And I was also self pay for the first 5 months but they also had me in grief counseling. I am in my late 50’s and now have no family at all for support ( one daughter been estranged for 13 yrs (narcissistic)and her kids and the other daughter about the same length of time (controlling hubby) and loss of my only brother and last of any family. But after going through some of the counseling I have found that this is giving me a reason and purpose.. I used to be in the hospice and also funeral profession ( not at same time) but I found that because of my grieving I needed a purpose in life and that purpose is now taking care of me. This is a whole new chapter and I know as I go through this one I will be starting other chapters. If this is your first appointment then you will have time to go through the counseling and also prepare for the surgery. Because of the grieving I was required to go thru the counseling and now feel so much stronger and more than ready for the surgery in a couple of days. I still have my sad days but I also have something to look forward to and also know my parents and brother would be so happy for me. Keep in touch and you will be in my thoughts and prayers ~
  9. Thank you, yes getting better but felt so much better Friday I over did it at work lol. I had a physical therapist injure my back last March. I was hoping to start doing some exercises to strengthen it but now just hoping it gets better before next week. I don’t do the relaxers well.. I also have 7 herniated disks in my lower back (lifting too heavy of things over the years) but the feel fine. Where are you located?
  10. Hi Krista, that would be awesome! I’m pretty new on the site, still trying to figure it out. I “tweaked” my back last Saturday and been on ice and pain med to get it better so they won’t have to reschedule my surgery. Where are you and which surgery are you having?
  11. I completely agree with you. Been forever it seems to get to this point but got the call Friday for the 30th... now making my list of things to get done before the surgery (ya, I’m a note person lol). I’m excited, a little nervous, wishing it was already 6 months behind me... lol . how are you feeling?
  12. Hi! How are you doing? Which type did you have? I’d love to hear your experience with it...
  13. Yes!!! I will be and look forward to hearing the great news!!! I was lucky that my insurance updates online throughout the day for the doctors offices so the nurse got the program was able to check throughout the day.. once the got my ekg and chest X-ray it was only about 20 mins before she called me back... ?
  14. I also have been very careful about who I tell... I’ve already got my sabatogers out of my life and only those I know will be supportive know. I also have back problems (not from weight) and anyone who knows I’m having surgery assume that’s what it’s for... I did tell my boss and he has been great but did tell him not to say anything to other employees. He had let me work extra hours as I haven’t worked there long enough for vacation time so that is a huge help. I live in a small town and am able to go to most appts during lunch hour. He even told me of another agent in a difference office and how she had the surgery and how impressed he was of how well she has done. So I’m lucky that he is very supportive and I think understands why I’ll be a bit slower for a bit. good luck!
  15. Yes,, I agree. I’d rather be working and I think that will keep the energy levels up... I have a love/hate relationship with my printer. I’m the only one in office who’s printer is completely across the room from my desk.. but as much as a hassle it is to keep getting up to go to it,,, it is exercise lol. I will only have one week off.
  16. Yes.... I used to be a hospice nurse,,, but years ago injured by a patient but now have a “mostly” desk job out of the medical field.. I live only 2 miles from work so it shouldn’t be so bad. Be careful about the disability pay, they may not think of this as disability issue... i get a hour lunch so may nap in car or see about leaving a hour early until I have more energy.. ?
  17. Thank you for the pics... yes I will!!! I tried “ Vega” brand was very constipating and I haven’t even had the surgery yet! Lol hey, you in Seattle? I’m from Seattle, grew up in Redmond, live in Hawaii.... GO HAWKS!!!! ?????
  18. They put you on a liver shrinking diet of protein and low carbs. Chicken, fish, veggies but that’s how I always eat so not a problem... the day before is clear liquids which should be ok. I’ll be busy at work and have to take off early to pick up a friend from airport who lives on outer island that is coming to help me with surgery. So hoping I’ll keep busy and not think of it.. the grape isopure so far is the best as far as not as sweet but I had bought mostly coconut flavor lol super sweet. They did say to add an extra protein drink this week. I have always drank one for breakfast. I have used “ spiru-tein “ for over 25 yrs and find it’s the best...
  19. Sounds like you are doing good! On the pill thing, I have my surgery on the 30th but been trying to have everything I could possibly need lol but I’ve wondered about the pill thing too,,, are you where you can have protein drinks yet? I wondered if mixing them with a little protein drink would help.....??? I’m allergic the dairy (the protein) so have tried many non dairy protein powder but keep going back to one I’ve used the last 25 yrs.. let us know what you end up using.. good luck and glad you are doing well!
  20. For the last couple of months, each payday I would buy something (food or gadget) for the new journey.... helped me feel like I was getting somewhere with this and have some things to try out before the big day. They told us to try “Isopure “ which I found at GNC, for my liquid days.. 40g of protein but very sweet. I cut it 50/50 with water,,, I only have 1 day prior to surgery for complete liquids then the after surgery.... it is also quite filling.. hang in there!
  21. Yeah!!!!! What kind and how long have you been waiting?
  22. I just turned 57 on 1/12.. would have loved to have had my surgery that day but this will be close enough. ? I’ve been working every Saturday to store up some time to have a week off, no vacation time until April ... but I’ve talked to several people who’s had the surgery and was able to go back to work after a week... including the nurse.. I’ll be taking naps on lunchtime I’m sure lol ...
  23. Thank you Lynn. Back in 1989 I had emergency gall bladder surgery and they did an appy and tubal ligation at the same time. Was supposed to be all done through belly button but woke up to a 12” cut straight across the tummy... I didn’t think I’d ever walk again without holding on to my stomach ? it was extremely painful but I lived through it and was back to work in half the time they thought. So I’m telling myself if I can make it through that then this should be much better! I’ve had a lot of surgeries over the years and just have to remember that they were all worth the pain ( foot/ankle, wrist, jaw, etc). I’m glad to hear you are doing well !!! I look forward to hearing more how you are doing.
  24. Thank you,,, I’ll keep you in my prayers that you’re will be very soon as well... when the nurse called me at work to tell me, I think she was more excited than I was!! Lol she said the best part of her job is letting people know that they are approved. She has also had the bypass and I like that she can relate to what we are going through. I had to giggle because I told her I didn’t really want the 31st as it was a full moon lol but I would take any day they would give me. Please keep in touch! I will watch to see how things are coming along with you. ?
