  1. I'm not on insulin but I take 5 different prescriptions every day. I can't wait to knock that number waaaaay down. Sent from my SM-G920W8 using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I've put a moratorium on buying myself any new clothes until after I finally get the surgery (with the exception of barest essentials... socks, underwear, etc), and given the fact that I will likely not have surgery until the end of this year, or possibly even early next year, I'm going to be itching to go shopping once the weight starts coming off.
  3. And another thing clothes related... I want to be able to buy all those super geeky cute t-shirts for my fandoms, and NOT have to buy the boxy men's versions because they don't make the nice girly ones in my size. https://www.snorgtees.com/t-shirts/geek-nerd
  4. Here it's Penningtons, her high maintenance, more expensive sister Addition Elle, and their cousin Laura. [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G920W8 using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. That is just plain rotten! Sent from my SM-G920W8 using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. I'm also looking forward to any event that requires a seat... sporting events, theater, concerts, etc. Not worrying about crowding the person beside me, or the arms of the seat digging in. Sent from my SM-G920W8 using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. My husband and I went to a big con last year for our 10th anniversary (Calgary Fan Expo). It was a great experience but it was also the experience that got me truly on board for this WLS journey. I was in agony from standing in lines for stuff... 2.5 hours in line to get Nathan Fillion's autograph almost broke me. I won't go to another con until after I lose some serious weight. Sent from my SM-G920W8 using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. I look forward to the day I take my rings in to have them sized down. I've always used how my rings fit as a gauge for where I'm at weight-wise. When they're falling off I'll know I've made progress. Sent from my SM-G920W8 using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. I've been up front with my kids from the beginning of this journey, but then I've always been honest about my medical stuff with them (partly because they needed to know what to do if I had a sugar low or something). I need them to understand that I'm doing this to take care of myself, to better my health and outlook on life, and so that I can be around when they grow up, graduate, get married, etc. I get the feelings of shame... on my bad days I feel that a bit too. Weight gain is a huge miasma of contributing factors... not just eating junk and sitting on the couch. Weight loss is hard, and the reality is proven in the numbers. They say only 5% of folks who lose a significant/large amount of weight will actually be able to keep it off long term without surgery. You have made a hugely beneficial decision for you, for your family, for your future. I think that's something to be proud of. You have made incredible strides in getting to this point, and it will still be hard work after the surgery. You need your family to have a good understanding of what you're in for and to be your support system. Hang in there!
  10. When I was at the bulk food store this weekend, I noticed some cricket protein bars. I'm going to give them a shot sometime soon.
  11. I was recently cleaning out my cupboards and found these shallow little dipping dishes (like the ones you use for dipping maki rolls/sushi in soy sauce) I forgot I had. I think they'll be perfect for the teeny post-op meals.
  12. Glad to hear that the spicy stuff still works for you... gives me hope. And I will check out those beetroot chips! Thanks for the recommendation!
  13. Fluffy, I am totally digging your recipes! I love cooking and the prospect of living on mush/baby food for weeks on end was depressing me to the enth degree. Your posts have given me hope... there is flavour in Bariatriville!
  14. I've heard that for some, the spicy is a no-go after surgery... kinda like eggs. I'm hoping that I'll still be able to enjoy Cajun shrimp or buffalo style chicken (not fried of course!).
  15. I haven't had surgery, but my two wee-lings (7yo and 5yo) are almost more excited about the surgery than I am. They want mommy to be healthy and to be more able to play.
  16. I'm hopeful that when I finally get to the post op stage of this journey, I'll have some seriously altered tastes (goodbye salty-crunchy... pretty please?). I was actually just pondering the spicy food thing this morning (as I was adding sriracha to my scrambled eggs no less). I won't think I'll miss the junk food/crap, but I am concerned that I'll miss the spicy stuff.
  17. I totally agree! I just had an underwire snap a couple of days ago... in the bra that I consider my 'fancy' bra, the one I only wear for special occasions and Sundays. They need to make them of stronger stuff for anything C or higher. The kicker is, I know that when one snaps, they all start to go. I was hoping to get to surgery without having to buy new ones.
  18. You know this, but maybe you need reminding... your body has gone through a massive trauma. It's in survival mode for the moment as you begin to heal. When the body is in survival mode it will hang on to fat stores like my 5 year old with his favourite stuffy. Be patient, stay the hell away from the scale, and love your new anatomy... [emoji178][emoji4] hugs to you! Sent from my SM-G920W8 using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Canadians seem to be few and far between around here for sure. I would hazard a guess it's because our programs run significantly slower (I'm 9 months in and no indication of when I'll get surgery... still hoping for a 2018 date) and it can be a little frustrating to watch others get their surgery so much quicker. Sent from my SM-G920W8 using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. I could live without any of the cross-country skiing events. Talk about paint drying...
  21. Canadian here... The only time I actually watch curling is during the Olympics. I do follow the big matches (Roar of the Rings, the Briar, Scotties Tournament of Hearts, etc), but watching a whole game isn't my thing. In my husband's family I'm considered very odd because I can live without curling most of the time. All that said, I'm really liking the mixed doubles format... much quicker-paced, very intense. And we are considering putting the kids into curling next winter.

  23. Glad it went so well! Looking forward to hearing about your progress!
  24. You'll be in my thoughts tomorrow. You so got this lady! Sent from my SM-G920W8 using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. This is something I need to get soon too. I started using smaller, luncheon sized plates a few months ago, but the think I'm getting good at overload them. Sent from my SM-G920W8 using BariatricPal mobile app
