    Calculating Goal Weight

BMI chart was created 120 years ago, before people knew what we know now. Someone mentioned Arnold Schwartzeneger been obese. Doctors now know for a fact that muscle weights more than fat. My advice, do not decide anything right now forever. Set first goal and once you get there see for yourself if you want to loss more weight or you comfortable with what you have accomplished. I’m also 5’6 and my initial goal was 140. Recently I was reading more about goals and looking at BMI chart, so I decided to change my GW to 110. As soon as did, scale hasn’t moved and I became more anxious. My HW 287, surgery weight 264 and CW 187. Having to loose only 48 pounds is sounds so much more easier and realistic for having to loose 80 pounds to achieve “perfect” BMI. Weight loose is a process, see how you feel 3 months after you have surgery!

    Goals

No worries! Perfectly normal. I’m 3 months post op and still can’t drink 64 oz. can’t and shouldn’t force food and water into you. Things will get better I promise!
  3. It’s been 3 months by now, how do you feel now?!
  4. Today is 1/21/17 and it’s has been a little over 3 months since my sleeve. I already had my 3 months follow up appointment. I have lost 65+ pounds in 3.5 months. I start my calculations from the time I started my 2 weeks liver reduction diet. On average I loose about 3 pounds a week. My doctor told me that is way too rapid. I eat about 4 times a day. Still cannot get near 64 ounces of water, but I know it will chance. If everything goes well sometime in March I should be in my onederland!

    Destined to be fat?

Hi! This site has online store and many wonderful tips on how to stay on track. Definitely cut out processed food and stay away from spaghetti/pasta, at least for now.

    Post-op pooping

also, flex seeds helped even better. Take about 2 spoons of flex seeds (better raw seeds) put in about 16 oz ceramic jar and put hot boiled water and cover. Drink up to 3 times a day when cools off. Morning doze better on empty stomach.

    Oct. 20th Surgery

On my pre op diet I drank protein shakes to substitute breakfast and lunch. 2-3 baby bell cheeses for a snack and lean meat for dinner. No water while eating. Lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks!
  9. Wow amazing! Thank you for sharing. I’m stalling this week and feel very anxious. Your post made me hopeful!

    Can’t stop crying

I read somewhere that after surgery hormones can be also be out of balance, it’s a major surgery and many changes take place while we recover. If your symptoms continue, speak with your surgeon first.

    3 days post op.

I’m 10 days post surgery and feel so much better. I have same symptoms, hurt even more when I was laying on my back, but trust me it does get better! It takes you so long to swallow all because your stomach is very swollen insides. Before when I drank it felt like needles. Just be patient! Every week you will feel better than before

    Soft puréed food stage

I noticed that many people put protein powder in their food. Is that necessary?! Thanx!

    Post-op pooping

Had the same problem. Metamucil, benefiber, Miralax never worked for me, even milk of magnesia. Glycerin suppositories did magic!
  14. My sleeve was on 10/17/17. First day out was a complete blur. Once I woke up in PACU I was in so much pain and begged them to give pain meds. Kept falling asleep and barely acknowledge presence of my husband. I tried drinking water, but started to vomit foam and blood. They kept injecting me with heparin to prevent blood clots, gave me anti nausea meds, which made me nauseous even more! Next morning my doctor came to check on me and saw that I wasn’t doing so well. I tried drinking water again but still vomited with foam and blood. Sometime in the afternoon I was transferred to a room on a floor. Still couldn’t keep water in. One of the nurses suggested that in stead of water try drinking something else, sugar free flavored water or a juice. I know that juiced are not allowed, but since hospital only had apple juice, they brought me 3 cans of apple juice, 4 oz each. I started to drink and waited for it to come up, but nothing happened!!! I drank some more and felt like myself again. My guess is that it had something to do with my blood sugar level. The reason why I think that is because when I did my pre testing in the afternoon, my glucose level was very low. Anyway, next day I was discharged. First week I lost 10 pounds. Seems like weight was melting off me. Every morning I woke up with extreme stomach pain. First few days I was taking tramadol, which made me very dizzy. I decided to stop taking it and just stick with Tylenol. Today, 10/27/17, was the first day I didn’t feel the need to take pain meds. At this point I’m very concerned that I haven’t lost any weight. I know it’s my fault for weighting myself 5 times a day, but I can’t help to wonder if something is wrong. I can barely finish one protein shake (so tired of them!) and drink as much liquid as I can, but nowhere near 64 ounces. I did some research and many people talk about “stall” and “plateau” and the fact it’s ok, but for most of them that happened after 3 weeks to few months, while I’m only on week 2! Just wanted to share my story!
