He told me that they will be working through the holidays.. and that I will be slotted for Dec 22 or 26... depending on how quickly they get the insurance approval!!! I'm all smiles today!!! I'm about to teach a PD course!!! My day just got better!!!

  12. Awesome, awesome AWESOME!!! I will probably be sleeved in 4 months.. Not taking any chances, so I'm not being "social" and I'm also seeing an awesome therapist, since I don't know what it's like to be skinny, small or a normal weight!! I'm so excited for you and hope that you continue to share your journey with us!!
  13. Longer life.. thanks for your response.. I don't care about what my co-workers think.. I was just wondering out loud.. how these folx justify their thinking.. My family members and friends who know I'm having WLS (about 5 ppl) know that I don't want their opinion, validation or support.. for the rest of the people.. WHATEVER!! LOL... I will do whatever necessary to enjoy my life... I have some co-workers commenting about me losing weight now.. .. (I'm a teacher.. and several of my colleagues run marathons, triathlons and stuff..).. They just have interesting thinking...
  14. So, I'm noticing that several of my colleagues, associates and family members have this crazy perception, disdain and blatant disgust of WLS.. I mean, if you mention the possibility of a celebrity rumored to have had the band or bypass they freak out.. Hemming and hawing about how people should work hard and not pay for bodies and yada yada..... WHATEVER!!!!.... Oh, let's not talk about Ms. So and so who had WLS.. who does she think she is... HUH??? The flip side is that these are the same people who stare in disgust and utter shock when they see a morbidly obese person attempting to live a normal life!!.. I'm trying to understand what kind of human being would belittle, disrespect and basically abhor a person who is trying to do everything necessary to change their lives.. so that they can have a LIFE.. one of quality, freedom and health.... Heck, I don't see people getting made at smokers who use the nicotine patch!! I know comparing WLS and nicorrette is like comparing lasik and eyebrow waxing.. but still.. both open your eyes so you can see clearly!!!.. I was just wondering why people do and say things like that... I'm sure most are oblivious to the HELL that person has gone through.. be it medical problems, emotional baggage, abuse, low self-esteem.. you name it... It's almost like... some people don't think you are human if you weigh over 175!!! (I kind of told one of my sisters that I was considering WLS... she freaked out.. told me to go back to WW... and try this and that... I explained to her that I am make a decision for MY life.. she doesn't have to agree with it, validate it or anything... She doesn't think I'm big enough to have surgery!!).. I wanted to tell her, you may not think I am, but my knees and back obviously do!!! Do you have people around you who think it's something wrong with having surgery to change your life, yet they say things about obese people??? Chime in please.. Thanks for ready my RANT for the day!!!
  15. I can't wait... to hear... WOW, you're a beautiful Sista.. and not.. You're a Big, Beautiful Sista!! LOL.. I know.. I wanna X the big!!! I can't wait.... to go to the amusement parks w/ my family and RIDE everything!!! (And also have a spa weekend w/o fearing they don't have Big girl robes, towels or tables!!) I can't wait... To travel abroad and not fear being wedged in an itty bitty seat for 10-16 hours!! I CAN'T WAIT.... TO accept my BF and college roommates request that I stand as the Maid of Honor at her wedding next year.. because I don't want to mess up her wedding photos with my gu-butt (Gut and butt)
  16. WOW!! Congrats to you and your grandma for deciding to change your life at an early age... I think the online school idea is great, as long as it doesn't put you behind. And when you return to school, tell your grandma to ask your doctor to send a formal letter to the school detailing all of the accommodations you will need (Water, Snacks, bathroom privileges, etc.). Your school should then provide you with a 504 plan (for special accommodations per medical condition).. This would help with making sure you are able to eat and stay hydrated while you're at school. Blessings and peace to you!!!
  17. What's unnatural is not being able to enjoy life to the fullest because of being obese and have obesity related issues.. What's also unnatural is having the opportunity to change that (with WLS and work) so that abundant living can be attained, maintained and enjoyed!!! I haven't told my mother that I am preparing for surgery, but it's because she's having some health challenges herself due to HBP that led to renal failure caused by 40 years of obesity.... And I don't have my date yet... but I will tell her as soon as I know what I'm getting the sleeve.. I told a friend of mine about it and she started ranting about all kinds of stuff.. I stopped her and said.. "I don't want your opinion, approval or validation... I just want you support.... if you can't give that to me, perhaps we need to rethink our friendship or at least the depth of it right now".... She simply said... okay... you're staying w/ me while you recoup!! LOL... I've decided to live my life without apology and explanation!!!
  18. WOW.. That's amazing!! And a blessing that they found it!!.. You are in my thoughts and prayers!!!!
  19. For me, it was the day I started "feeling my weight"... I fell down my basement stairs and injured my back... I was working out 3-4 times a week before my accident.. After I couldn't work out anymore and then 3 months later I broke my foot.. I started gaining all the weight I'd lost back.. That wasn't the main problem.. I started having trouble getting in and out of my truck and climbing the stairs to my 2nd floor. I was doing both of those things w/ ease and 35 -50 lbs more weight. I think the injuries to my back and foot could not heal properly because of my size and the fact that I wasn't moving like I normally did... This summer reinforced my decision to get sleeved... as I was treated like a "customer of size" by a SWA airline agent... LOL.. I'd flown to DC two weeks prior w/ no problem.. but this guy wants to make a huge deal out of me being on a HUGE plane w/ 40 passengers!!! This nut actually wanted me to purchase a 2nd seat.. and the plane was almost empty!! Of course I asked for a supervisor who immediately told him he was out of line... but I realized then, I couldn't back out of the 6 month MSWL and neither could I be afraid to have surgery in 4 months... I was so hurt and disgusted... I can't imagine being 40 and morbidly obese.. My friends and family don't think I need WLS, only because they don't know how it feels to be in my body.. They see the big personality, the talent and intelligence... but I feel my back hurting and foot aching from walking and standing for so long... At my appt w/ a pulmonary specialist yesterday he told me that he was proud of me and glad that I made a decision to have surgery.. He said that I am very healthy, but also very morbidly obese and one of those things was going to change very soon!!.. I know which one!!!
  20. Monica, has your surgery been scheduled yet??? I have BCBSIL... and I'm going through the Bariatric Center at Little Company of Mary... I was hoping to have my surgery during the holiday break (I teach high school Chemistry), but my pt. coord. thinks that's a lofty goal since my final appt w/ my wt loss spec isn't until dec. 10 (i think).. My break starts on the 17th... I already met w/ my surgeon (Dr. Gerald Cahill) and I'm going for an appt. w/ a pulmonologist this afternoon.. So, your post gives me hope that I can possible get a date for the end of year.. I hope so!!! LOL.. Blessings and good thoughts to you!!!
  21. So, I'm a little freaked out :blink:because in April of this year I had a bout of bacterial pneumonia, in June, what the RAD thought was a mass turned out to be a collapsed bronchi.. Before all this I've had 3 serious bouts of bronchitis in 6 months....I started my MSWL the latter part of June.. I have an appointment with a pulmonologist this afternoon and I afraid he's gonna say I can't get sleeved :( !!! Anyone else have respiratory issues prior to surgery?? I'm open to advice, info, etc... Thanks!!!! signed, Chicago girl on a mission to a NEW and IMPROVED life!
  22. I can hardly wait!!! I'm getting work done for aesthetic enhancement, after I get sleeved to preserve my life.. Heck, may as well look good!!! Forget people who don't agree... Misery loves company and people who criticize others often have problems w/ themselves!!! My BFF is tickled that I'm finally get WLS.... She says "You're a diva and something else now... oh Lord, when you drop 100lbs, I'm going to have to put you under 24 hour surveillance!!!".... HEHEHEHE.. she's probably right... Take care of yourself!!
