Anxious
Hi Kel, Thanks for the message. I am happy to say that I am officially 8 days post op today! I had the VSG done on 10/16 and had a few issues that kept me in the hospital 2 days longer than expected. Even with that, it’s been an amazing adventure thus far. I’m able to get in my fluids and my proteins each day (still on a full liquid diet until Monday), and am moving around pain free. The incision sites are close to healed and I’m almost back to feeling normal. I’ve lost 12 lbs since surgery day and am learning new things and learning the new me every day.

Scared senseless.... pre-op
I had VSG done 10/16. My SW was 283.1 and yesterday I weighed at 266.6. I’ve been getting my fluids and protein daily, and moving around as much as possible. Finally feeling normal with no head fog, etc. incision sites are almost healing, the larger one has a bit to go, and still some bruising, but can sleep on my sides and almost my stomach. Just trying to find some variety of full liquids between yogurt, soups, shakes, etc. You guys will do amazing, just stick the course. Walk as much as you can post op, but also listen to your body. Hydration is key.

Scared senseless.... pre-op
Being nervous is expected as it is a major surgery. I’m a week post op and feel great. Even with some bleeding that kept me a couple days longer than expected, it was really a breeze and I’m so happy I went through with it. I’m still on full liquids for another week, but each day that goes by I feel better. You’ll do great, just trust the process and stay the course.

Favorite Broth?????
In 4 days I had two very small sips of broth. The sight and smell of it was enough to make me almost vomit. Depending on your plan, I wouldn’t put much thought into it, just focus on water and sf popsicles. I bought 3 cartons of broth before my surgery last Monday and didn’t open a single one.

Had my sleeve one week ago today and feel great. Each day is getting better. I have no problems getting my fluids in, and mixing up my full fluids to keep it interesting with creamed Soups, yogurt, etc. Protein Shakes are getting easier to tolerate each day as well. On day of surgery, I was 283.1, and this morning I was 266.6! Looking forward to continuing the journey

October 16 sleevers
Lots of water, propel, and protein. The protein has been the hardest part as the shakes are way too sweet. This morning I did some Fairlife milk with Isopure Protein and that was ok, 43g of protein. I feel pretty darn good all things considered

My October 16 sleevers are you ready??!!
I was sleeved on the 16th and just got home this afternoon. Fear of internal bleeding kept me in the hospital two days longer than I had expected. Today is also my last day of clear liquids, which the only thing I’ve had since the surgery is water, 1/2 of a SF popsicle, 2 small spoonfuls of broth. Tomorrow I get to switch to full liquids so I’m hoping protein shakes will agree with me. Got about 60oz of water in today, and that is my main focus as of now. Not much pain or discomfort

The surgery itself went well. The day of surgery and yesterday I was light headed or dizzy every time I stood up or sat on the edge of the bed. That started to wear off over time and last night I was finally able to move around, use the bathroom on my own, etc. I haven’t taken pain meds since the day of surgery. All in all, I feel pretty good, stomach muscles are just a little sore now

My October 16 sleevers are you ready??!!
Mine went well, pretty sore and haven’t been able to walk around because of dizziness and light headed whenever I stand or sit on the end of the bed. Looks like I’ll be here a second night

I'm the 16th as well. Best of luck to you @Drea8989 and @hillnicole34. I luckily don't have to do a pre-op diet but am only eating 1 meal per day and a shake for the others just to make sure my liver is smaller.

Just got my date...October 16th
I really didn’t think when I went for my appointment today that they would give me a date 12 days away. A wave of emotions took over me, fear, nervousness, and excitement. I’m ready for the journey and look forward to a healthier and slimmer me. I can’t wait to enjoy things with my wife and kids...zip lining, canopy tours, tough mudder maybe? Who knows. Ready for this 2nd go
