  1. WHAT IN THE EVER LIVING ACTUAL F*CK... Seriously. I followed the diet, I'm taking meds...I'm still making sure to get protein in first and trying to make it to at least 1k cals per day...but I've lost 6lbs, that's it. Has ANYONE else experienced this?! Is it normal? I mean I am not the biggest person in the world, I was 276 when I came home from hospital and weighed 270 a couple days ago. I was not a huge alcohol drinker, did not drink pop all the time etc before the surgery, had no health issues, still have no health issues and nothing I eat makes me sick... is that it? I mean, is it because other than eating drastically less than I could before surgery, is it because I was healthy before hand so Im not seeing any drastic results!? I'm starting to get super depressed.
  2. Well here's hoping I'm like you and can lose that much in 7 months...maybe now that I can lift weights etc it will start coming off more?? My wedding is in June of next year and I was really hoping that Id have lost at least 70lbs, but at this rate, if I'm only losing 5lbs a month then I won't make that :/

    One month Post-Op...only 6lbs lost!

I was told not to go lower than 1k cals with working out.....so I don't think I will be going any less. I am already trying to up my protein, and working on it, thanks.

    One month Post-Op...only 6lbs lost!

Clothes are all fitting about the same, I see the 6lbs basically in my face/hands feet all noticeably slimmer, nowhere else really... Getting about 40 min of walking per day, walking was all I was allowed to do until literally today(per my Dr). Tuesday I will be walking Disneyland for 9hrs...I don't know my current BMI, but before surgery it was 40 I think? could be wrong though.
  8. See...you at least lost a huge chunk right away. I am on day 28, exactly 4 weeks from surgery, and I have lost exactly 5lbs. That's it. I followed the diet, I've been walking, I'm eating protein etc...im so f*cking discouraged at this point, it makes me question why I bothered getting the surgery, I feel bad for my fiancé who paid for the surgery, like it was all for nothing. I'm eating drastically less than I did before surgery and mostly protein...but 5lbs. In 1 month. Not feeling very optimistic anymore.
  9. Ok, I'm beginning to think I'm the only person who will not lose weight from this!Officially been 2 weeks since my surgery, I weighed today and am the same as right before I had surgery! what is going on here? I keep seeing other people post about all the weight they were dropping....and I haven't lost a pound. No complications, been walking every day, taking meds and food are within my allowed range...what gives?! Has anyone else not seen a drastic drop right away or is it just me?! :/

    2 weeks out..not a pound lost!?

God no not still on liquids only...who does liquids only for 17 days after!? Lol I have a premier protein drink, soup, pureed beans, smashed avocado yogurt etc...all things that are allowed at this point. Like I said I think mine was a combination of all the fluids - I was hella swollen from hospital - and my time of the month following surgery by BARELY more than a week. I refuse to weigh daily - I would get obsessed and then depressed if it wasn't as fast as other people - but I will weigh weekly and keep track of it, so next week is next weigh in

    2 weeks out..not a pound lost!?

Well, I think mine was a combo of the fluids + pms/period. Of course that started about 10 days after surgery, period ended yesterday and I weighed this morning and was already down 1lb, so hopefully now that's all out of the way I will see more progress

    3 days post-op and starving!!

I found I was very hungry by the 5th day. Not just hungry but also sick and tired of peeing. I don't understand people saying they stay full in liquids, mine go right on through and I was peeing 2x's an hour and never "full". So we began sugar free jello, and pureed soup a couple days early and that helped immensely! Now, I'm on soft/pureed foods and find that none of them make me sick, and I can easily eat 4-6 ounces and then I'm stuffed..lasts generally 2-3hrs and then I'm hungry again (tummy growls kind of hungry, even with liquids) Is that just me?!is that about normal?

    Surgery in Mexico

I had my surgery with Dr. Jaime Ponce de Leon Palomares, surgery and hospital stay was at Hospital Angeles (which we did pay more for- my fiancé insisted on the biggest/nicest hospital). He was very nice and friendly and so was his assistant Sergio. Absolutely 0 complications and I'm 2 weeks out. Stitches and drain wound almost entirelt healed and looka like there will br almost no visible scars for me. The Drs and staff were very nice and even those who did not speak English at least tried - and to be fair my spanish is not fluent, but they appreciated me trying and it was enough to get by (Google translate worked when there were words we didn't know how to translate!)
  15. Hello! My name is Amanda....I'm new here, I kind of ghosted the forums before my surgery, looking for tips and info to help convince my fiancé (because the Drs recommending it wasn't enough, lol) that the surgery would go well... but now that 've had the surgery, I find I will probably need support and have lots of questions from those who have been at this a while! I just had my surgery 3 days ago....in Tijuana, Mexico with Dr Jaime Ponce de Leon Palomares , who was kind and wonderful and very skilled, we had no problems with him or Hospital Angeles. However, I should note I was a very healthy person before, I had 0 health problems - no heat issues or diabetes or high cholesterol or blood pressure blah blah blah, I just happened to be fat - much to the dismay of those who knew me and my Dr's alike, thus I had the surgery. I'd never had any kind of surgery before so this is all very new to me... dealing with the air bubbles so far is the suckiest! (why did no-one mention those things ahead of time lol?!) I got a bell band because gravity seemed to be a jerk with the stitches etc...the band certainly helps with my walking and was worth the $20 at Amazon. lol Hopefully I won't need it long... Anyway, that's my story, any helpful tips or questions etc, I'm all ears!
  16. Thank you for the reassurance I will put it away for a bit.
  17. Ha ha, Berry....mercy, some things you just don't want to be exceptional At! Maybe I'm swollen because of the broth etc? Though as much as it has made me pee, I don't know how that is possible!!
  18. Thank you!! I feel like I should have already begun losing weight after 2 weeks of liquids (pre op 1 and post op 1)...but in not seeing it, beginning to wonder if I will be the only person to never lose weight from the surgery! Trying to stay positive though...
  19. Oh Sandy Polly! I wish someone had warned me...apparently it is common with laparoscopic surgery, but no-one warned me about them at all.It causes air bubbles within you, in addition to ones you might expect in gut/chest, they move up into your shoulders/collar bone area and at least for me have been some of the worst pain from the surgery. They are supposed to go away within a fewdays...I am 4 days out and still experiencing them but much less, so hoping my end of week they will be gone! It would have been nice to know ahead of time, I thought I had pulled muscles or something!

    Self-pay cost in US

See my post before this one, if you're here in San Diego, check out my dr in Tijuana...seriously, they knew what they were doing, the were friendly and clean etc....and their hospitals charge maybe 1/3 of what hospitals here charge for 2 night ($4k instead of $12k-$15k) and the surgeon fees are smaller or comparable...but really the hospital fees are what get you in the US/CA.

    Self-pay cost in US

I live in San Diego...the quoted self pay cost here and in Phoenix, AZ was $18,500-$22,000 - the Hospital fees are what cost the most, literally more than half the cost, is what the hospital charges. Because of this, I researched Dr's in Mexico since I'm only 30 min from Tijuana... We found Dr. Jaime Ponce de Leon Palomares to have the surgery at the little hospital there would have been $4,900...my fiancé wanted me to have it at the best hospital in town, so we paid an extra $3,600 and had it by Dr. Ponce De Leon Palomares at Hospital Angeles, for a total of $8,500. Including all fees, medicine while at hospital and hospital stay for 2 nights and 1 night at a hotel. They were friendly, knowledgeable, very skilled and the facility was clean and well maintained. We had 0 problems - however if you don't know ANY Spanish at all, you might have a tough time though the use of translation apps was used often in the hospital by nurses and staff who didn't speak much English. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone. My fiancé was concerned about the stigma around Tijuana and Drs there etc, but he was pleased with them as well. I am sure there are others, but I will vouch for my Dr.!
