Pills and Supplements
That stuff tends to make me jittery and nervous and I know most of it is not good for the heart. I was into it when I was younger, but not now. It seems the weight will come off, but come back on again in full force! Kelli

Hi I am home from the hospital!
Sunta, I've been thinking and praying for you and am pleased your home and doing well!! My doctor prescribed gallbladder medication for me, too. Your surgeon must be taking precaution against any blood clotting which is a good measure in my opinion! Kelli

Any brain surgeons around?
Aw...y'all are so sweet!!! Thank you!! My surgeon and I do not have what I would call a rapport, but he is available and direct which I happen to like. I also think he would prefer patients to get the bypass as that has (initially) better results. I tend to giggle when someone states the obvious (I mean if it weren't in my brain, I wouldn't be having surgery!). LOL. Kelli

help!!!
Hi Roger, Not sure what type of help your asking for, but I am also 3 weeks postop. I am just now moving into mushies foods. My doctor wanted me on thin liquids for the first 3 weeks. What type of foods are you eating? Are you having difficulty or something? Kelli

Any brain surgeons around?
Because that is what my surgeon told me yesterday at my 3-week postop visit. I did tell him that I'm a bit hungry (I'm on thin liquids for the first 3 weeks) and have occasionally indulged in fat free, but sugar loaded yogurt, he said that was not good. Then, when he told me that if I didn't lose weight I would perpetutate my fatty liver disease and need a liver transplant (!) he looked at me and said: "But you really need a brain transplant." Listen, I almost fell off the chair laughing...he is so right! But, did he really have to say it? I have lose 8 pounds (banded 2/2), but he said I should have lost much more than that. :omg: Live and learn and I guess. I so appreciate this forum, though, I mean, he's thin after all. And, er...it's approaching that time of month. Can't a girl keep SOME excuses?? :biggrin1: Kelli

I'm terrified and crying
OH, Sunta, I can so relate. I was banded on 2/2 and almost backed out ON THE OPERATING ROOM TABLE. I think it is a big deal, this surgery, and I respect your fear. If it helps at all, I went through it, and am grateful to be banded now. I SO HOPE it works out for you. I'll keep you in my prayers. Kelli

Working with the band ...
I think the poster is looking for an outside answer to something only one can only answer for themselve, inside. No-one LIKES rules and I often become angry and frustrated when I realize that following the rules really is the only way to achieve certain goals. It's my own immaturity, if you will. Not getting my own way. Sometimes we make issues really really complex because we do not want to face the easiest answer of all which is surrendering and actually making behavior changes. I mean, who is possibly going to come here and say that by doing anything other than calorie in/calorie out control, they have lost weight? No-one because they would be on Oprah making zillions of dollars. Lap band a miracle cure?? I find it difficult to believe that lifelong dieters would believe for a minute in a miracle cure. We generally know better than that. Kelli

How much pain/discomfort am I suposed to be in?
Hi, I was banded on 2/2 and I'm still a bit sore. That first week I was very sore and took life very easy. It is surgery after all! I do not think you will be regreting it in a couple of weeks. Have you ever awoke from a bad dream and been really really happy you are not still in the bad dream? Well, the first couple of weeks after surgery, I FELT THAT WAY. It was beginning to freak me out. Then, one day, I was grateful and very happy I had done this. It just happened. Kelli

The danger of knowing too much.
I do not believe one can ever have too much information (especially regarding your health), but with that typed, the whole experience of being banded is not going to happen unless you are banded. So, if you're trying to create (by what you say is "over thinking) the band experience, you're right, it will not happen. Otherwise, by knowing as much as possible, you will be able to proceed on a green light. Kelli

Exercise and the Band
Jenn, That is awesome!!! I went for a mile today, working back into things after surgery, but I love reading about others exercising, it is really encouraging to me because it's so easy not to do it! Kelli
