  1. I'm so mad at myself; and disappointed. 3 days post-surgery and I actually took tiny bites of food. I'm lucky I didn't hurt myself. I don't feel great today, but don't think I did any damaged and will not be testing myself again. The reason I post this confession here is that thickgirl5683 is waiting a year to try a sweet and I couldn't make it 3 days without trying a taste of food. You are inspiring and reminding me what I should be doing.
  2. I just need to vent for a moment. Nearly everyone I've told about this surgery thinks they have some way to relate. What is it with people? If they've dieted, they think they know the same issues, or had another surgery, or ate baby food. Has anyone else had this? I'm glad I limited who I've told. This is annoying.[emoji36]
  3. Your almost 2 weeks in. How are you feeling? I go in tomorrowm. So excited for life, post-op, not so much.
  4. Good November 20thers. Doing this together.
  5. Best of luck to you. I'm proud of you for taking control of your health.
  6. I'm glad I asked the question because of the varying answers. I am going to a nationally acclaimed hospital and they even said straws were up to us, but it makes sense that they could cause issues. Only one vomit and I'll probably know. 4 days and counting.
  7. Thanks@catwoman7. Another reason to really change habits while it's easier too. Meal planning is going to be crucial for me.
  8. I hope they are out there for you, they can't be easy to find. A therapist from my binge eating program went out on her own and is running a weekly group, otherwise all I oul have is the after care program.
  9. Thanksgiving will be 2 days after leaving hospital, so I'm vegging on the couch and probably sleeping. Thankfully it's a small get together this year.
  10. I am begging for this. My sweet tooth is my problem and I am so worried about cravings. My surgery is Nov 20th.
  11. You guys are inspiring. My surgery is Monday, Nov 20th. The pre-op diet is so hard, which is why diets don't work, right? I'm just hoping that cravings subside post-surgery. While we can't physically eat, those urges are tough.
  12. Ugh. I'm on my pre-op diet 8 days in with 6 to go and I'm not doing great. I am eating low carb, definitely, but putting in Atkins snacks and I think that's affecting me. I see some of you are doing liquid protein diets, and I'm thinking of switching to that. How do you all feel on those pre-op diets? What obstacles did you face and how did you deal with them? I'm not a large bariatric patient, so I don't foresee complications (hope, hope, hope), but also want to do what's best for my body.
  13. @flufflychix Had a 4th class today that told me more about the pre-op diet, what days in hospital will be like, and what the days and weeks following surgery are like. It put at so much ease. I was so anxious. I am so absolutely positive now. Still nervous about the challenges down the road, but working with a therapist on that. So excited to get my health on track. My family all supports me.
  14. Hi all. Surgery is November 20th and I'm curious about hunger. I know it won't take a lot to quell the hunger, but how often does it occur & how intense?
  15. Sassy72 I went through an eating disorder program that regulated my eating. With it I was able to losr.weight, even thought that's not what it's meant for. Are you maintaining? If not, I would strongly recommend this program. The one I attended was by ERC Insight. Check them out and they may be able to help.
  16. @rucamama I wish I had some advise for you, but alll I have is support. You are brave and strong.
  17. I just realized that is the same with me starting on my Surgery day. Damnit. Haha
  18. Non-surgical victories. I had to go to tbe beginning of the thread to look it up too. [emoji12] Sent from my SM-G928P using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Omg this is amazingly encouraging. Surgery in Nov 20. So excited/ nervous. Sent from my SM-G928P using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. Good question. I'm giving myself a week, but I work from home and only 3 days a week. We'll see... Sent from my SM-G928P using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. Hi folks. Is sipping through a straw a problem for anyone post-surgery? I'm thinking of protein drinks & liquids.
