  1. I was 204 when I went in and 5'8. I have lost 15 pounds since the 4th of September. Weight lose has stalled thanks to pms!!!! And at least I am not gaining but been on 189 for 3 days now. I will let you know since I also had a low bmi. Hope you are doing great!!!
  2. So how much are you eating at one time? I guess I just feel as if I am also eating too much at one time, but I am actually hungry. I am having greek yogurt like half a cup with honey, mashed potatoes like half a cup. Also soup blended in blender, ricotta cheese with a little spaghetti sauce, cream of wheat with pb in it. I guess I just wonder if this is ok? I had the band before and I couldn't eat anything and I could always feel it restricting. With the sleeve I really can't feel it and I guess I am comparing to the band?
  3. I am 2 weeks out today and just wondered what everyone was eating? And do you feel like you are hungry all the time? Please list like what a typical day is for you! I need some input on this!
  4. I had surgery September 4th, and I am down 15 pounds!! How is everyone else doing?
  5. Ok so I had surgery on Saturday the 4th. I am so confused on liquid diet. I can't do broth the thought of it makes me want to vomit! So I have been doing protein shakes and I guess I am doing this all wrong. My instructions say only broth, water, jello and juice. I had lapband before and so I am just struggling with what to do. I don't want to do any damage to my new stomach but just not sure what I can do at this point? Am I the only one struggling with this stage? Thanks for any info!
  6. Ok so I know I saw information on what everyone is eating but I can't find it so thought I would ask again. I had a complete unfill today due to not being able to eat and bad left side pain after eating small amounts, kind of like gallbladder pain (but had gallbladder removed 9/14/09) So doc did an x-ray to check for slippage as I only had 2 cc's and will call with results tommorrow, but says he thinks it is me and the way I eat. I struggle with eating I have this whole time I have had the band! And I am actually regreting getting the band, I am 10 pounds away from goal and want to reach it so bad!! So what are you eating on a daily basis, are you counting calories, how long does it take you to eat, and are you able to get enough fiber? I have almost been in ER multiple times for constipation and can't seem to get regular? Any info would be great as I must be doing something wrong this whole time!!! I was banded 6/8/08????
  7. I also just saw Dr. Schlesinger and I am so happy with him!!! I recently moved to Arizona from Oregon and not one doctor here would see me. I ended up in the ER due to pain from band and also gallbladder and the doctor in ER told me good luck and that he has Lap Band in Mexico and if you had surgery out of state you are SOL!! So I had called 22 lap band doctors total, one doctor did agree to look over my medical records for 1,500 down and agreement to enroll in nutritional and workout programs through his clinic...I was hopeless. I found Dr Schlesinger's # and I cried when they told me they would see me!!! He unfilled my band as I had been throwing up for the entire year I had my band!!! And did gallbladder removal and is working with me on how to actually eat and live with the band (seems so each for everyone else but me) he is a blessing and I am so glad he is my doctor and yes Jen is also great with helping with insurance and so informative....this doctor is the best and if you live close by and you are considering lap band so yourself a favor and go see him!!!!
  8. I took gallstone meds at first my doctor said I only needed to take for 6 months. I am about tired of doctors right now. Called the last two in my area and they will not see me advised me to fly home for an appointment!! I have been feeling ok. Only doing liquids and mushys to kinda heal my body after throwing up 2 nights ago. I am trying to drink lots of fluids and adding protein shakes and such. I will keep paying someone will see me!!
  9. Thanks everyone for writing. I called my doctor in Oregon and they referred me to some more doctors. The clinic I talked to today said I would have to ay 1.000 up front to be seen and enroll in there weight loss program for one year, and that was if the doctor reviewed my case and decided to see me as it was case by case. This is the third doctor and I just don't have that kind of money, and she was a complete bitch about it!! I am so frustrated about this I went and seen a pcp and he said he wasn't a bariatric doctor and I need to see someone who specializing in lap band so frustrated!!! I am just doing liquids until I can see someone so I am not throwing up anymore. Haven't had that pain in like five days it comes and goes it is so odd!!!
  10. Ok so I was banded on June 11th 2008, my starting weight was 260 and I am currently at 168. I am so happy with my weight loss but I have had a really hard time with the band. I had my first fill late July and it was like 2 cc's, then again I got another fill October (not for sure on dates?) and it was another 2 cc's. I got an unfill in December due to throwing up too much and she took out like 1 1/2 she said. So since then I have had this horrible pain and it isn't everyday but it is like weeks at a time and then goes away. It happens usually at night after I eat, and it is a stabbing pain in my left side radiates up my shoulder and into my back, lasts about 30 minutes then it is gone??? Has anyone had this before? Also I throw up all the time??? I eat slow and eat what I am supposed to but I feel like I am basically anorexic I can't eat. I have been living on ice cream and coffee?? I am getting frustrated has anyone had these problems???
  11. I am new to Arizona from Oregon and I am looking for a doctor. I am in Phoenix area. I have contacted a couple doctors who refuse to see me since I already had surgery. I am having alot of problems and need to see someone asap.....Help please!!!
  12. I am so sorry, I was a dog owner and he was my love! Animals are amazing and healing, and when the world turns against you, a loyal friend you would always have. I believe there is a special place for our animals once they pass so keep smiling and you will be reunited again one day! Prayers to you and RIP Pedro!
  13. I quit smoking one year ago and since my doctor knew that he did three labs all the way until the day before surgery! I had actually thought about having one one night when I went out like two weeks before surgery but the thought of coming all this way and that ruining me having surgery scared me and I didn't! I am not sure if they do labs like that in Mexico?
  14. Thanks everybody for your support! I love this forum its so great to have someone who knows what you are going through! I just want to be successful! So again thanks for the support and ideas!
  15. I am ten days out and on liquids. I finally couldn't take shakes anymore and i had 2 oz of refried beans and then couple hours later some tuna. I just was starving and so weak and energyless and needed some protien besides shakes! I just want to cry I feel like I am a loser and even surgery can't keep me from eating! Please tell me someone has done this and how did you stop once you started? And some ideas on protein shakes I am so burnt out on vanilla with crystal light! Thanks
  16. I am out three days and today I feel okay. I was banded on Wednesday the 11th and stayed one night. My first day home I got nauseous and threw up because of pain meds it was horrible! I cant take pain meds since they are in liquid form and make me want to vomit! I was so upset yesterday and felt I had made a big mistake but today I started passing gas and feel a little better! So hang in there!
  17. I am bi-polar I have I was diagnosed when I was five and have had my whole life to get it under control. I see a regular therapist and I have to go see him and get a letter saying I am fine. And I am happy life is great and having some doctor I have only met once say I am delusional was so upsetting! I paid him 200 even though I have insurance and as I was doing my written test he left for over an hour running errands???? I just really hope that my insurance doesn't deny me because of this idiot's diagnosis!! This six months has been so hard jumping through hoops and paying alot of money to do it! Send positive energy my way, I am ready to change my life, I hope insurance thinks so!
  18. I got called to my surgeons office this morning and as i watch him reading a document i see the words pysch eval and my stomach dropped! he the says the doctor who did my eval recommends six months of therapy before my surgery! why because i am delusional about my happiness because i am bi polar and i guess i have to be depressed or manic cant be even! I now have to get a note from my regular pysch doctor and start counseling with a women they referred which is fine and my surgeon said he wont deny my surgery but what about my insurance? The funny thing is the doctor who said i was delusional weighed about 375 and was eating mcdonalds while talking with me.........IRONIC?
  19. So I had my pysch eval and I am so nervous!!! I see a counselor on a regular basic as I am bi-polar was diagnosed when I was five and have had my whole life to figure out how to control it! I am on meds and steady and my life is amazing. I am in a very good relationship he is so supportive of my surgery and I have never been in a better place mentally and I am ready to get healthy physically. So my appointment was 2 1/2 hours of that was 1 1/2 hours of strange tests replacing number sequences, and I felt like I was in school again. So the doctor left while I was taking my tests and ran errands, weird I thought. On my test he had written things about me which were good, said I was intelligent and well spoken, then wrote euphoric with a ? mark and that I talk to fast. So when you are bi-polar you can be manic and have bursts of energy that lead to a crash, and I am afraid that is what he thought. I was nervous to have some one evaulating me and having the power to say you are not ready for this surgery! I am so stressed out and one more thing to freak out about!!! Did everyone pass there eval?
  20. Brandy.....Thanks for all the info I am so excited for you! I am also in Oregon, Bend and I am hopefully having mine in June (that's when we will submit to insurance) I am so tired of doctor's appointments, I had to have 6 months supervised diet, Sleep study, EKG, Labs, Ultrasound, Endoscopy, Psych Evaluation and finally Nutriton Eval......Oh my gosh I stress about doctor's appointments and if I am gonna get approved, I am breaking out in zits and my nervous habit is to chew on my fingers, I AM FREAKING OUT! Please tell me until you were approved you were doing the same!
  21. Well my surgeon says that BCBS should be fine since I have been overweight my whole life, they reassured me that I am right on track! So I hope all goes well. The doctor's office was so impressive my surgeon held my hand and said "has anyone ever told you it's not your fault that you are heavy?" I wanted to just burst into tears! He was just so understanding and every person that I spoke with was so positive! I knew that these were the people that were gonna see my through this experience. So I still have my pysch eval, endoscopy, sleep lab, two more visits with pcp, and nutritional eval and then we submit June 1st.......I will be so happy when I get this done and over with!!!!
  22. Wow that is such good news! I also have BCBS Minnesota and will be submitting to insurance on June 1st, and I stress every day on if they will approve it or not? My company has been bought out by another company and will most likely switch insurances when they take over late June early July! I am freaking out!! Thanks for sharing I have hope today!!!!
  23. I have BCBS of Minnesota and my insurance doesn't actually start until 4/1/08 but I started my six month supervised diet in January and hope to submit to my insurance by June. My surgeon and his office has been amazing! I haven't even met with him yet and his coordinator has been by my side with all questions for the last three months. I meet with him on Thursday the 4th!! I have been doing my six month diet and when I did my first way in my BMI was low because I had lost 8 pounds it took me three months to get that weight off. So I am worried about that my BMI was 39.1. But I have diabetes and heart disease on both sides (my aunt just died 3 weeks ago of heart attack from complications from diabetes she weighed 450 pounds when she died) And I have a bad muscle diseasein both calves that makes it hard to walk and my doctors have written letters stating that I need this surgery to improve my mobility. Has anyone else had a low BMI and what was the outcome?
